Story
Hi, Name is Chip! I'm the type of dog that is gonna take time to get to know. I'm mostly scared and confused in being here. I'm not happy in my kennel so I do bark at you. You have to bribe me with hotdogs to get me to trust you. Once I get out on leash I'm fine but it still takes time for me to adjust. We don't know much about chip but to greet with other dogs is a must and to be tested around cats. I would say no to kids. Any additional information about me please ask the people in the office. To adopt one of our animals, please visit our shelter, open Tuesday-Friday from Noon-5pm and Saturday from Noon-4pm. You may also submit an application online from our website at http://www.HelpTheAnimalsINC.com/adopt.

Story
Lola Moon`s Compatibility:Dogs: Yes, but prefers to coexist, not playCats: No, thanksKids: Yes, dog-savvy teens are a great fit (14+)Lola Moon is a one-of-a-kind girl with a big personality, a love for the outdoors, and a name that sounds like she should be in a folk band. She’s clever, sensitive, and has a strong herding instinct, which means she takes her job of “supervising the household” very seriously. She was found as a stray a couple of years ago and has spent most of her time since then exploring big open spaces and perfecting her favorite hobbies: sticking close to her people, chasing the occasional leaf (or cat), and making her opinions about strangers very clear. She’s not a social butterfly; she’d prefer a tight circle of trusted humans who respect her space and understand her working-dog brain.Lola’s ideal home is calm, consistent, and structured. She’ll thrive with someone who’s ready to work with her, advocate for her needs, and build a relationship based on trust and mutual understanding. She has completed a board-and-train program, knows her basic cues, and does best with positive reinforcement and routine. While she may not want to be the life of the party, Lola has so much love to give to the people she trusts. She’s loyal, smart, and goofy in her own way. If you give her a chance, she just might be your ride-or-die hiking buddy, backyard adventurer, and best friend. She’s not for everyone, but if she’s for you, she’s really for you. Come meet Lola Moon and see if her orbit feels like home.

Rizzo’s Compatibility:Dogs - Bring yours by and we’ll see if they click!Cats - TBDKids - Yes!Rizzo is a handsome cattledog mix who is housebroken, crate trained, and knows all the important stuff like sit, lie down, give paw, and how to gaze lovingly into your soul. He’s a social eater (he likes to dine near his people like the little gentleman he is) and an expert napper who takes his sunbathing schedule very seriously. Rizzo`s foster mom states that he enjoys running with her, and they`ve even started doing Couch to 5k together!Rizzo has been an excellent office buddy here at HSHC and a devoted companion to the people who’ve taken the time to get to know him. He’s hoping for a calm and steady home where guests are few, and he can really settle in as someone’s best friend. He may not be the life of the party, but if you prefer quiet mornings, loyal company, and a dog who thinks the sun rises and sets with you... Rizzo is already halfway in love. Come meet him and see if the feeling’s mutual!

Story
We took Hardy from a family member who adopted him at the wrong time. He came from a home with three young children, a cat, and another dog (his brother). Hardy was not being treated as well as he should have and was crated often with no walks. The family was looking for shelters to put him in but they were full. I offered to rehome Hardy so he could go to a loving family. Hardy is potty trained and crate trained. According to original owner, he did well in the crate with his brother, but when I crated him to run errands, he did whine a bit. He has no issues going into his crate though - when you say "crate" and point to it, he goes into it. Hardy is just under 2 years old. His birthday is in April. He will be 2 in April of 2026. He comes quickly to his name, he knows how to sit, and he is *extremely* cuddly. He does need to warm up to strangers, otherwise he is a great dog. A lot of potential!
