She’s clever, sensitive, and has a strong herding instinct, which means she takes her job of “supervising the household” very seriously. She was found as a stray a couple of years ago and has spent most of her time since then exploring big open spaces and perfecting her favorite hobbies: sticking close to her people, chasing the occasional leaf (or cat), and making her opinions about strangers very clear. Story
Meet Angel 💛 Angel is a stunning Cattle Dog mix female, approximately 1½ years old, with a resilient spirit and a heart full of love. She came into rescue after suffering a broken neck, but she has fully healed and is now thriving—strong, happy, and ready for her forever home. Angel is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative. She is a large, energetic girl, standing about 2 feet tall and weighing around 56 pounds. Friendly, playful, and very social, Angel loves to romp and play with other large dogs and would do best with canine companions who can match her enthusiasm and play style. She has a sweet, outgoing personality and does well with both men and women. While she hasn’t yet been around children, cats, or small dogs, she has shown no signs of aggression. Angel enjoys being outdoors and would thrive in an active home—ideally with a securely fenced backyard where she can run and play. Best of all, Angel is fully house-trained and kennel-trained, making her an easy and rewarding addition to a new home. She’s looking for a loving family who will give her the space, exercise, and affection she deserves. If you’re searching for a loyal, energetic companion with an incredible comeback story, Angel may be the perfect match for you. 🐾💖 Angel is being fostered in Harlingen, TX but can be transported anywhere in the midwestern or northeastern states. Transportation cost is included in the adoption fee of $500. If you would like to be considered for adoption, please submit an application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/ASHT/Dog

I’m a sweet girl who absolutely loves people and making new friends! Life in a kennel isn’t really my thing; I’d much rather be out exploring or hanging out with you. I’ve spent some time living life on my own, so I’m still learning how to settle in and feel fully comfortable indoors. With a little patience, consistency, and training, I’ll be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for. I just need a family who can give me time to decompress and show me that home life is the best life.

Story
Meet Sarge! 🐾💥 This big guy isn’t just a dog—he’s an adventure waiting to happen! Sarge is on the lookout for a family with a nice big yard where he can run, play, and unleash his inner puppy (despite being a total big guy). He’s got the energy of a marathon runner and the heart of a teddy bear. If you’re looking for a snuggle bug who’ll also keep you on your toes with his zoomies, Sarge is your man! 🐕💨 While he’s totally friendly with other dogs, he has no interest in small animals... so if you have a hamster, well, that might be an awkward meet-and-greet. 😅 Ready for a dog who will fill your life with fun, love, and a little bit of chaos? Sarge is waiting to be your new best friend and backyard buddy!

Story
Meet Hannah, a 1-year-old Catahoula/Cattle Dog mix and the sweetest Velcro dog you will ever met. Hannah is the very definition of the 3-3-3 rule. For a typical rescue dog, it takes 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to understand they are home, 3 months to understand they are a family member at home. For Hannah it might be a bit longer in her new home to adjust due to hearing disability and her past. However, as her foster mom, I can tell you that she is absolutely worth the wait. She will be very cautious and unsure, but she is not aggressive or reactive. She needs a family that will put in the time and patience for Hannah to be her silly, sweet self. She will take longer to adjust to men because of her past interactions with them. It took Hannah about 4-5 months to freely walk around the house without trying to hide. Now she walks and hangs out with the whole family. A little history about Hannah. She was born deaf but has good vision. She was neglected and possibly abused the first year of her life in the home of a backyard breeder. She was then surrenderedto a shelter. She was living on borrowed time due to capacity concerns andwas extremely scared and confused. We had to give this girl a chance to blossom, and she is quickly becoming this sweet and happy Velcro dog. In the past five months inside her foster home, she has gained so much confidence and has become such a sweet girl. She loves listening to music loudly in the car on the way for a pup cup, especially Enyas Caribbean Moon. She probably likes to feel thevibrations or the beat. She does generally well in the car and has now learned to hop in and out with no problems. She loves her walks and will walk right next to you. Sometimes a little too close where she will accidentallystep on the back of my feet but she just wants to be so close so she feels safe on our walks. After a good long walk she enjoys sitting on the couch watching TV (with subtitles) with her foster family. Hannah's favorite genres are sci-fi, cooking shows, and rom-coms. She doesn't seem to like Stanley Tucci and she growls when he pops on the screen. We won't fault her for that. She has started vibration collar, light, and sign language training and is doing very well. When she feels safe, and confident with the humans around her, she is eager to learn. She knows stay, off, and we are working on sit and come here. She LOVES fetch and would like a home with plenty of indoor and outdoor toys to play with. She loves a good chew at night to settle in. She looks to her doggie foster siblingsfor her queues and mimics what theydo. Hannah wants to be in a pack. She will need a home with another dog friend that can be her forever companion and most importantly her guide and leader. This is a must. If you do not have a second dog, might we suggest Wapiti, another foster in ARPO. She felt very safe with him. She also needs a 5-6 completely fenced in yard for her protection. No holes or gaps. Due to her past, she is very wary and cautiousof male figures and slow to come around them, but shows promise with repeatedexposure. Her favorite special treats are Cheetos, Cheek chips (From Hollywood feed), and doggie icecream. She has perfect potty manners and will let you know when she needs to go. She is crate trained, and her crate is her safespace that needs to be respected and not used as a punishment. She is doing very well living in a home with big and little dogs and several cats. She is respectfulof the cats and if there is a patient feline in the home that loves to snuggle in bed with her, she would be over the moon. Hannah being deaf doesn't define Hannah. She is kind, sweet and needs a patient loving home that will appreciate her and make her feel safe for the rest of herlife.Hannah will take some time and patience, but she is well worth it. She is a diamond in the ruff :). Home inspection will be required as part of the finalization of adoption of Hannah.Transportation is available for the perfect home. If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website at arporescue.org to learn more about our adoption process and complete our adoption application. ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis. We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.

Story
Meet Baron! 🐾 Baron is a remarkable young pup, just 1 year old and weighing 45 lbs, who’s ready to find his forever family. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Baron previously tested positive for a tick-borne disease but has since been fully treated. With a heart as big as the ocean, Baron is a true water dog—he loves cooling off by lounging in a doggy pool on warm days. He’s well-mannered, house-trained, and kennel-trained, making him an easy addition to the right home. Baron gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and having a canine companion in the household is actually preferred, as he opens up more quickly when he has another dog to bond with. Baron can be a bit shy at first, especially around men, and may take a few days to feel comfortable. A patient, understanding family will help him blossom into the loving companion he’s meant to be. Because of his gentle and reserved nature, we recommend a home with a fenced-in yard and older children who understand boundaries. While Baron isn’t overly active, he enjoys relaxing around the house, exploring the yard, and going on regular walks—he walks beautifully on a leash. Sweet, loyal, and full of potential, Baron is ready to grow and thrive with a family who will give him the time and love he deserves. Could you be the one Baron has been waiting for? Take the first step toward a lifetime of love and companionship by giving Baron the forever home he deserves. 💙 I'm being fostered in La Feria, TX but can be transported to any midwestern or northeastern state. Adoption fee is $500. Please apply to adopt here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ASHT/Dog
