Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bear is a very handsome blue heeler, looking for an experienced dog owner to have a GREAT life with! Bear is super smart, and he loves to play with other dogs around his size. He requires a home with a playful and submissive canine companion near his size, he especially responds well to female dogs.  Bear is kennel trained as well as potty trained.  He loves to go for long walks and explore, he will make a superb companion for a very lucky owner! Bear does have stranger danger/reactive fears, he came to Last Hope very untrusting of people.  He has done great working with a firm and consistent handler, and will require this is his forever home but will likely always be initially reactive to strangers. Our volunteers have worked with him and found him to be a very friendly and affectionate dog, although he still requires slow and controlled introductions with strangers and will need an owner that appreciates his breed and unique needs. He does seem to settle faster with women.  No children, no cats and preferably a homeowner with a physical fenced in yard.  Bear's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, current vaccinations, and microchip.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, current on preventatives and vaccinations, and be altered.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 23, 2025, 11:30 am

Story
Zipp is a 2-year-old, 45 pound, Australian Cattle Dog. She came to us from the Bethany, Missouri Pound, where she had unfortunately landed twice in the last year. The first time was back in April, when her owner reclaimed her, updated her vaccines, and provided proof to the city. In early September, she was picked up running at large again. This time, her owner denied she was his dog. That’s when Zipp’s new chapter began. She moved into one of our foster homes in Bethany nd did great there with five other dogs. Last week she made her way to Iowa, where she’s been showing us what a truly wonderful dog she is. Zipp plays well with both male and female dogs and absolutely loves people. She’s got great doggy manners. If another dog isn’t interested in playing, she reads the room and simply moves on. She rides beautifully in the car, enjoys going for walks, and loves to fetch. Zipp pays attention to her people and knows her name well. If you call her or whistle she comes right to you. Zipp is house trained, kennel trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. She does require a physically fenced yard so she can safely run and play. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and loyal companion, Zipp is your girl. If you would like to meet Zipp, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Zipp you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.  Indoor homes only.  Adoption fee $300.

Story
Meet Roux, a 9-month-old, 22-pound Australian Cattle Dog mix who decided the golf course in Independence, Iowa was her personal playground. She spent several days perfecting her zoomies on the fairway before the owner finally called Brett from the Corgi Rehab Sanctuary. Brett showed up expecting a Corgi… but surprise! Roux is definitely not a Corgi — so she joined us instead. Roux is a happy, playful girl who loves toys, fetch, and a good game of tug-of-war. When playtime is over, she’ll happily curl up in your lap for a nap (because being this cute is exhausting). She’s house and kennel trained, food motivated and learning her basic commands like a pro. Roux will need a physically fenced yard to safely practice her championship-level zoomies. One more thing — no cats, please. Roux thinks they’re part of the game, and the cats strongly disagree. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, smart, snuggly teammate, Roux is ready to trade the golf course for your backyard! Roux is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you would like to meet Roux, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Roux you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.  Indoor homes only.  Adoption fee $300.

Story
Cleo is a 6-month-old female heeler mix with a sleek black coat, a classic heeler-style white–spotted chest, and the most irresistible oversized ears—she’s still growing into them, and they somehow make her even cuter. This sweet girl is the perfect balance of playful and snuggly. She loves romping around outside with her puppy friends, especially those close to her size, and she’s known to gently “egg on” her buddies to convince them it’s playtime. In new environments or when meeting unfamiliar dogs, Cleo can be a bit reserved at first, but give her a little time and she warms right up, ready for fun and adventure. When playtime winds down—or she’s simply in the mood for affection—Cleo transforms into a total snugglebug. She’s a certified clinger who wants all the love she can get, happily nudging the nearest person for pets and cuddles. Truly, she could soak up affection for hours. Like any good heeler, Cleo loves being outdoors or watching the world go by through a window. After a good romp, she’ll immediately curl up for a nap, snuggling in close to both people and other dogs. She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids. Potty and crate training are still in progress, but she’s a smart, eager learner who’s already well on her way. Cleo would thrive in just about any family looking for a well-rounded puppy—one who can run, play, and explore just as happily as she can spend the day curled up in bed with you. If you’re searching for a loving, playful companion with a heart full of affection, Cleo is your girl!

Story
Echo’s big, soulful eyes could melt anyone’s heart, and they often do. One moment he’s gazing up at you with pure love, and the next he’s showing off his goofy, happy-go-lucky cattle dog side with the silliest expressions. At nearly 4 years old, this handsome boy couldn’t be any sweeter. Echo absolutely melts for chin scratches and rump rubs, and he loves cuddling in laps, even though he’s a solid 65 pounds (don’t tell him though, he’s convinced he’s a 20-pound lap dog). With his gorgeous, multi-colored coat and gentle, affectionate nature, Echo truly shines inside and out. He’s wonderfully friendly with people, loves other dogs, and even shows potential to do well with cats. Echo is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows his basic commands like a champ. Right now, he’s working on a little weight-loss plan, but he doesn’t let that slow him down one bit. He’s ready for walks, adventures, and plenty of snuggles in between. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving cattle dog to join your family, look no further. Echo is perfect in every way, as long as you’re ready for a moderately active lifestyle and lots of love.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Baxter and his devoted sister, Bella—a truly bonded pair of sweethearts who are ready to fill your home with twice the love! This sibling duo, approximately 5 years old, have been inseparable since they were puppies, originally coming from a breeder in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, their lives were recently turned upside down as they were lovingly surrendered following a death in their family and a change of living circumstances for their owner. Through this transition, their steadfast love for one another has been a comfort, making it clear that they would do best adopted together. Their family says they would do best in a home without young children as they are both very unsure and scared of young kids but may warm up to older (teen age +) children. They both loved their large fenced-in yard where they had the freedom to run and explore safely. They enjoy being outside but have never had the opportunity to walk on leashes, so they are working on their leash manners currently while with us and we already know they will catch on quick! They are very smart and eager to learn!  These two are fully prepared to start their new lives right away: both are up to date on vaccinations, previously spayed/neutered, and have been microchipped for identification. If your heart and home have space for two amazing, devoted dogs, Bella and Baxter are ready to find their safe, forever landing spot with you! If you're interested in setting up a meet & greet or possibly adopting these two, please submit an online adoption application as the first step of the meet & greet process. This application can be found on our website at www.wesavepets.com. Once the application is submitted, a Safe Haven volunteer will be in contact to discuss next steps.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 3, 2025, 10:39 pm
