I AM SPONSORED! Thank you Spice, Koal and Zee for sponsoring me! Meet Tanner, a sweet and energetic Australian Cattle Dog mix with a zest for life. His curious nature turns every day into an adventure, and his intelligence allows him to learn new tricks quickly. Tanner is incredibly friendly and always ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a playful bounce. He thrives on interaction and would love a home where he can channel his energy into fun activities and bonding experiences. Adopt Tanner and discover the joy of having a loyal and loving companion who will bring endless fun and affection to your life. Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable. For more information, visit joplinhumane.org or contact the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri at 417-623-3642.

Story
Soulie has been waiting here at CHS for a whopping 203 days. All of us are shocked that this sweet boy hasnt been snatched up in all that time. Originally he was found as a stray with his twin brother. His brother was adopted shortly after their arrival, but unfortunately Soulie was left behind. The good thing about Soulie is that he never let's anything get him down, he is pretty much a happy go lucky guy all the time. He is ready for any kind of adventure you may throw at him, he loves going on walks, loves toys, he loves swimming and last but not least, he LOVES kids. We would absolutely love to see him go home to a family with children, this boy is all wiggles and kisses when the little ones are around! Soulie is very sweet, and not over bearing, he gives gentle kisses and nose boops, and he can even entertain himself with his toys as he is often found throwing them up in the air or pushing them around on the floor with his paws or nose! Soulie has not played with other dogs in quite awhile, so we would prefer if his potential adopters would be willing to do a meet and greet if they have other dogs. We have not tested Soulie with cats while he has been here. If you are interested in learning more about Soulie, please stop by and visit him or give us a call with any questions you may have! This spotty boy has so much potential, he just needs that one chance to prove to someone just how special he can be!

Story
Alicent was pulled with three other members of her family from a neglect/hoarding case. This beautiful, social dog, assumed to be a heeler/hound mix, had spent the first 3 years of her life alone and on a chain. We were heartbroken but not suprised when she and her 2 companions Rhaenyra and Miss Missy all tested heartworm positive, and we buckled in for the long haul, dedicated to making sure they completed their treatment before moving onto their next home. That was 7+ months ago. The difficult part is over now - the months of kennel rest, medications, injections, the waiting game. It's now time for Alicent to find her forever home! Alicent's littermate has gone on to thrive in a home with children of various ages, another dog, and cats, and we think Alicent may do well in a similar environment. Alicent keeps a clean kennel, is improving her leash skills, and is a friendly, happy, and silly dog who loves to play, run, and enjoys her treats. Because she had been kept in isolation for so long, she was confused by the prospect of a doggy friend, but she now plays and bounces with the best of them. Alicent enjoys soft beds, Nylabones, and will chew on a bone for hours. She has an old leg injury, but she does not let it stop her athletic prowess. If you think this affectionate, vivacious, and surviving soul might be a good fit for you and your family, please come and meet her! She's been at FFAA since the beginning of May 2025, and the sooner the better for her to move on to the next chapter of her life.
