Story
Amos is a 4 - 5 yr old male Blue Heeler mix. He has a high energy level, so he will need plenty of daily exercise. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles and kisses. Amos does pull on a leash, but this can be resolved with obedience training. He is food motivated and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Story
Sienna is a 9 - 11 month old female Australian Cattle Dog mix. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active home with a fenced in yard for plenty of daily exercise and play. She can be shy initially, but warms up quickly to new people. She comes when called, but likes to explore when not being interacted with. Sienna does pull on a leash, but with obedience training, she will be walking well on a leash like a champ! She is food motivated, but does not yet know any commands. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Story
Tanner is a strong-willed but loveable dog who has the color and markings of a Boxer. He's going to grow into a beautiful adult dog. He is reserved and gentle with people, but he does have lots of energy and loves soccer balls and fetch. He is mostly good with other dogs. He likes to snuggle. Let us know if you need a set of pretty dark brown eyes to look into.

Story
According to the Vet, Odie is approximately 7 months old. We got him from a young woman who rescued four abandoned puppies from a trashcan. We did not know what breed he was. We knew he would be bigger than the two dogs we already had, but we didn’t know how big he would get until we took him to the Vet. The Vet says he is mostly an Australian Shepherd, possibly with some Lab. He currently weighs about 47 lbs. Odie is such a sweetheart. He is very loving and friendly and loves to play. Our other two dogs are older. Odie wants to play, but they don’t. In addition, we don’t really have the room to keep him safe and we don’t want him to stay on a leash all the time. We want Odie to go to a good home where he will be loved as much as we love him, but where he can also have enough room to run and play. He is a wonderful dog with lots of energy and will make a great and loyal companion.
