Gentle Ben's estimated DOB is 06/12/2015 and he's a white and brown Red Heeler. He was found tied to a boat with a steel cable - he had deep injuries on his neck as a result from this cable digging into his skin. Regardless of how badly he was treated in the past, Gentle Ben is a sweet and happy boy these days! Ben adores all the attention he can get from his humans! This gentle boy can be shy and hesitant to trust new people but once that bond is made he is right by your side. This gentle soul does well in a crate at night and when recently in a foster home needed a few reminders about house training but seemed to pick up quickly on it. Ben has been known to pester cats and small animals so would do best as the only animal in the home. Ben can jump a regular chain-link fences, so he will require a privacy fenced home or leash walks.We would love love love to see someone take a chance on this perfect boy. He has gotten so used to life at the shelter that he seems to have given up on the possibility of a forever home, and doesn't show his true self when he's out at adoption events or meeting new people. Those of us that he knows well can attest that he is truly the sweetest, goodest boy!All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Carlisle is the biggest in the litter and handsome as can be! He is a good balance of the personalities we have seen between this set of siblings--goofy, playful, spunky, eager, intelligent, stable, grounded, and of course, a major cuddler and sweet-as-can-be.He recently attended an all day adoption event at the Tractor supply and spent 6 hours in an unfamiliar and overwhelming environment. Most of the day was spent on a harness and a leash or inside a crate. While on leash, he eagerly greeted every stranger that would pet him and played nicely with the other puppies, adult dogs, and small senior dog that we had at the event. While in his crate, he spent time chewing on his treat or resting. We really feel that his behavior at the Tractor Supply event shows evidence of how much potential he has to be a well-rounded, pleasant family companion and how much versatility and adaptability he displays for his future environment.
