Story
Maxwell is a 6 year old chihuahua red heeler mix who weighs roughly 16lbs. He is housebroken, doesn’t shed very much and enjoys quiet time on the couch. He’s very intelligent, knows all the basic commands and can learn more extremely quickly. He does not get along well with kids, cats or other dogs, but loves the adults he warms up to very much. Maxwell would be a good addition to a quiet, loving home where he can provide indoor company to someone looking for the leisurely lifestyle.

Story
Meet Remi, an Australian Cattle Dog puppy who is smart, driven, and not for the faint of heart.Remi is a true working breed puppy. She is incredibly intelligent and intense and she needs a very specific, experienced home to thrive. She requires a highly active, structured lifestyle with people who understand Australian Cattle Dogs and are prepared to meet her mental and physical needs every day. Long walks and backyard time alone will not be enough. Remi needs a job, consistent training, problem-solving activities, and purposeful outlets for her energy. A farm, ranch, working environment, or dedicated dog-sport home would be ideal.True to her breed, Remi herds everything, hyper-fixates easily, and does not have an “off switch.” When overstimulated or under-guided, she can become mouthy, pushy, and tune out cues. She will test boundaries and needs clear rules, structure, and confident handling. Breed experience is a must.Remi can be possessive and has little sense of personal boundaries with other dogs, so she will do best with careful management and continued training, or possibly as the only dog. She is not suitable for a home with children. She is still very much a puppy and learning. Remi is not fully potty trained yet and may whine in her crate as she continues crate training. In the right home—someone who understands the breed, enjoys training, and is committed to channeling her instincts—Remi has the potential to be an incredible working partner. In the wrong environment, she would quickly become overwhelmed and unhappy.Remi is not a city dog.She needs more than walks or free time in the backyard—she needs purpose, structure, and stimulation. If you are an experienced adopter looking for a driven, high energy puppy who needs leadership and a job to do, Remi may be your perfect match.Remi is 9 months old and weighs 24 pounds. The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. Story
Cashy Boy is an approximately 3 year old 55 lb.  tripod.  Having 3 legs has not slowed him down.  He loves nothing more than running—playing fetch and chase me. His favorite toy is a herding ball.  Check out his video.  Due to his looks and love for herding he may be an Australian Cattle dog mix.   A home with acreage or fenced in yard (only needs to be a short fence) where he can play is needed.  Cashy Boy is dog friendly with same size or larger female dogs. No small dogs as he has an exuberant style of playing.  Not sure on male dogs or cats.   Cashy Boy is best suited for a home with older children, no small children.  When you come home he will be the first to greet you trading pets and hugs for kisses.  He would prefer to sleep with you and he makes for a great snuggler but for a treat he will sleep in a kennel. Cashy Boy has recently graduated from the 12 Week Puppies for Parole training program offered through the Mo Department of Corrections.  While in training he was taught basic obedience and socialization skills.  He has learned various commands such as sit, stay, paw, heel, etc … and has acquired his good canine citizen honor.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Cashy Boy’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes.
