Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hello there! I'm Maise, your future best friend. I'm a bundle of joy, full of playful energy and smart as a whip! I'm brave and independent, but don't let that fool you, I'm also as sweet as can be. I'm looking for a home with a privacy fence, it's just my preference. I love older children, they understand my playful nature and I can learn so much from them. I do prefer to be the only pet in the house, I like all the attention on me! I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and loyalty. Adopting me means gaining a friend for life! Oh did I mention, I just finished a 7 week training program where I earned my certificate of compleation. I know how to come, sit, stay, down, leave it and many more tricks. I also love car rides, tug of war and fetch! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##1095560##

Story
Hi there! I'm BiBo, a 1 year old Heeler mix with tons of love to share! I'm a sweet and happy girl that was found wandering, but luckily someone swooped in and offered to help me out! I'm living with a foster now and he says I am a good girl. I've got a great little personality and would love to be someone's furever friend. I do good with other dogs and love to play. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2130401##

Story
Hello there, my name is Colossal Clide and I've been around for 4 years.  I had a lovely home with really nice people and they took very good care of me and I gave it all back to them.  They have passed on so this left me all by myself.  Luckily our neighbor came and picked me up and brought me here to the PCHS.  Such a caring staff.  They took me in, no questions asked.  I'm a heeler and am tri-color.  As you can see I love to eat but, really I need someone to get me on a diet and run & play with me so I can get some of this weight off me.  Can this be you?  I hope so.  I'll be waiting. . .  Come on in and see me or you can check out their awesome website.  Here's how:  If you’re interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment.  Some pets are in foster homes and may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come.  Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly.  For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using Face Time or another app.  Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual.  We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed.  For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from the veterinarian ($35).  For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas.  Going that last mile home for our sweet pets!  All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick, heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped #adoptdontshop. ##2197145##

Story
Hi! My name is Rutabaga and I am probably the sweetest puppy on the planet. I’ve got those naturally pouty puppy-dog eyes that make it hard to say no, and my little white-tipped tail is just the cutest wagger ever. I also give the gentlest little hello kisses & will lightly place my paws on you to let you know I want some love. At only 5 weeks old I was already barking to let my foster mom know if I needed to potty in the middle of the night, or if the water bowl was dry! I’ve also gotten pretty good at telling time, so I know when to expect meals & who to talk to if they’re late. I’m a smart cookie & a quick learner—I bet you could teach me so many tricks! I love soft toys and chews with lots of texture, and I’m a fan of a cozy little spot to hide while I plot my next move during a game a of keep-away. Nesting in blankets fresh from the dryer is also the best way to start a nap, don’t you think?   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Oink is such a cutie boy!  He is a 17 week old, 16 lb, Australian Cattle Dog.  Both his parents were Cattle dogs, mom is red and dad is blue.   Oink was born outside and lived outside until he came to rescue! He brought with him loads of parasites, seed ticks, fleas and intestinal worms!  Fortunately for him, those pesky bugs are gone and he is feeling pest free!   Oink is such a sweet cuddly boy!  He enjoys getting belly rubs, playing with all his new toys and most of all - playing with his doggy friends!  Oink has potty trained very easily and quickly!  He is learning some basic commands and all the comforts that come with living in a house!     He will make a great addition to almost any family. Note:   It is important to be familiar with herding breeds before making a life long commitment to this baby boy.  He naturally tries to herd his big dog friends.     If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Hi, I’m Clemson, a snuggly little girl with a love for exploring! Whether it's sniffing out new places in the house or curling up for a nap in your lap, I’ve got the best of both worlds. Right now, I’m still learning the ropes with potty training and manners, so I need a patient adopter who can guide me through that.  My brain loves challenges, so I’ll need lots of enrichment to stay happy and healthy. If you’re ready for puppy cuddles, fun, and a little bit of work, I’m your girl!   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.
