Meet Ruby — The Little Gem Who Stole Everyone’s Heart! 6 months • Blue Heeler • 25 lbs • Spayed • Up-to-Date on vaccines & preventions If sunshine had a heartbeat… it would be Ruby. This tiny speckled sweetheart was found wandering more than 10 miles deep in the Louisiana woods — skinny, exhausted, and completely alone. A kind Good Samaritan stepped in, and from that moment on, Ruby’s life took the beautiful turn she deserved. And wow… has she BLOSSOMED. Ruby is now a healthy, happy 6-month-old pup weighing about 25 pounds, and her personality is absolute gold. Her favorite place in the world? Right next to a human. She lives for affection, loves being spoiled, and wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She’s gentle, loving, and endlessly sweet — the kind of dog who bonds deeply and wholeheartedly. Why Everyone Falls in Love With Ruby    •    Sweet as sugar with the softest, most loving soul    •    Absolutely adores people and attention    •    Wonderful with children    •    Gets along beautifully with other dogs    •    Cat tested — she politely tucks her tail and runs the other way (zero interest)    •    Friendly, social, and eager to please    •    Doing AMAZING with leash training    •    Crate trained (or very close!) and learning routines quickly Ruby has the goofiest little happy dance, the gentlest nature, and a face that melts hearts instantly. She looks at her people like they hung the moon — and she truly means it. Ruby Is Ready for Her Forever After surviving on her own, Ruby deserves a home where she’ll always know she belongs — cozy couches, loving humans, and a life filled with safety and affection. Story
Introducing Stanley -- the goofy, big-hearted cattle dog who just wants someone to notice him!Stanley is our resident 5-year-old cattle dog with a silly personality and a big heart. This playful boy is toy-obsessed -- he loves carrying one around like a prized possession -- and he'll happily trade a game of fetch for a snack (or two...or three). He loves his walks and approaches exploring with great enthusiasm...just at a pace that leaves plenty of time for sniffing and maybe even a snack break. With people he trusts, Stanley's goofy, affectionate side shines brightly. But here's the part that breaks our hearts:Stanley is still here, and he wants YOU to notice him. He's confused, stressed, and trying so hard, but shelter life is wearing him down more each day. Stanley wasn't built for concrete floors, echoing hallways, or watching volunteers walk other dogs past his kennel. He was built for open spaces, wind in his coat, and paws hitting dirt instead of tile. Instead...he waits. And with little to no interest, the waiting is getting harder.Stanley is a loyal, one-person kind of guy. He needs: -A home with no other animals; -Room to run and decompress; -Someone who understands his breed; -A patient adopter or foster who can give him space, guidance, and the chance he's been longing for.He doesn't want perfection -- just a person. Someone to see past the kennel stress and recognize the fun, silly, devoted companion he is outside these walls.Right now, his world is a kennel. But it doesn't have to be.If you're looking for a best friend who's equal parts silly sidekick and loyal companion, Stanley's your guy! Come meet him...you just might be his person. You can begin the adoption process for Stanley right now by filling out an application on our website, www.humanecny.org; or email info@humanecny.org; or call us at (315) 457-8762.Contact HumaneCNY if interested in this animal. You can fill out application to adopt at the shelter.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Brody – a 5 year-old, 65-pound neutered male Cattle Dog/Pitbull mix with the perfect mix of playful energy and easygoing charm. Currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS, Brody is ready to transport out of state once his forever family is approved. Brody is that rare, wonderful balance of being active enough to enjoy outdoor adventures and mellow enough to fully embrace a lazy day of Netflix and cuddles. Whether he’s chasing a toy in the backyard or melting into your side with his signature tongue-out smile, Brody is the definition of a lovable goofball. He doesn’t mind getting dressed up for holidays or themed events—he’s happy to strut in his rodeo best or festive costume, just as long as he’s doing it with his people. Brody has done best with friendly, laid-back female dogs and tends to prefer a more relaxed playmate. Because of his size and love for running, he may be a bit much for smaller or more timid dogs, but he’s also fully content being your one-and-only pup, as long as he has space to stretch his legs and get some zoomies out in the yard. A home with a secure backyard is ideal for him to enjoy some off-leash play. He’s a gentle sweetheart with people—always happy to meet new faces and has done well with the children he’s met. Because of his playful energy, we recommend a home with older, dog-savvy kids (8–10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to respectfully interact with dogs. Brody would love nothing more than a buddy to play with, run around the yard, and then wind down with for snuggles. No cats for Brody, please, as he’s not quite sure how to share space with feline friends. When it comes to leash manners, Brody is a total gentleman. He walks calmly on a loose leash, stays close by, and enjoys a good stroll. He’s also fully housebroken and crate trained, and does wonderfully in his crate when left unsupervised, especially since he currently shares a home with other dogs. He loves his plush toys—especially giving their faces a little “customization” with his enthusiastic chomps! Brody is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He thrives in a home that offers structure, consistency, and encouragement. His foster mom has put in great work helping him polish his obedience skills, and he’s made huge progress! While he may still get a little excited around assertive male dogs, with calm guidance and continued positive experiences, he’s continued to show how well he can adapt. He would be a great match for someone with experience with Cattle Dogs, Pitbulls, or other intelligent working breeds. These dogs are deeply loyal, affectionate, and thrive when they have a purpose—whether that’s going on a hike, learning a new trick, or just being your loyal shadow. Brody doesn’t need a super active lifestyle, but he would love a couple of daily walks, light adventure time, and maybe a fun activity like scent work, agility, or basic obedience classes to keep his mind sharp and his bond with you strong. At the end of the day, Brody is a happy, affectionate, low-maintenance boy who’s easy to please. All he wants is a soft bed, a few toys, a cozy home, and someone to love him. He’s come so far during his time in foster care and is more than ready to start his next chapter with a family who sees how truly special he is. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
DOG-FRIENDLYADULT ONLYNolan was picked up as a stray in Taberg and found his way to the shelter. He weighs about 50 pounds and is an active boy, but has the leash manners not to pull while out walking with volunteers. He loves to play and spend time with people but doesn`t mind exercising independence when the time calls for it. Nolan`s a bit restless in the shelter and is eager to get out of his kennel but he calms down nicely once he`s out in the sunshine where he can relax.
