Story
River was abandoned in the national forest after we had a major ice/snow storm - myself along with animal control went out to try to get him and he was so terrified - after several hours I was able to gain his trust and he jumped into my car. River is a typical heeler - super super smart, loyal but the typical heeler attitude. This boy knows many commands, sit, stay, lay down, roll over, wait - he will not even eat until you tell him he can. His most favorite thing in the whole world to do is to play ball and he will play for hours and hours. He will need an adopter that has had "heeler" experience as they honestly are a breed of their own. But if you have experience with them - you also know how amazing they are. He would make an excellent hiking partner. Absolutely NO cats - and while he does well with dogs his size that are submissive - he would not mind being the only dog and this dog is going to be loyal to you without a doubt. He is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 70 pounds. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, current on heartworm prevention, microchipped and is a very well trained dog. If River seems like the perfect dog for you, please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - that is the first step in our process. We also require references and a home visit. His adoption fee is $250.00

Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided below.Patches is a young blue heeler/pit bull terrier mix. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is very friendly, loves dogs, and plays with children and cats. While she can be somewhat hyper, she can follow basic commands such as sit, howdy, and lay down. The owner has trained her not to jump on her, but when company comes, she gets excited and will jump. She loves to show affection by licking. The owner unfortunately cannot deal with her hyperness in the house, so she is chained up outside. Her chain reaches all the way to the front porch, and she has a small front yard. She uses the bathroom outside, but when she was smaller, she was kept in the house and she was fully housebroken. When the owner's health permits, Patches goes for walks. She walks well with a training collar. The owner feels that Patches would be happier in an environment where she could have more freedom (e.g., a fenced-in yard), and with people who have more energy to deal with her. She is a very loving dog that just needs the right people. If you are interested in Patches, please email stephanie@heartofthefoothills.org

Story
**FOSTERED IN SUMMERVILLE, SC**  Meet Parker! Age: 3 months (Est DOB 08/19/2025) Breed: Mixed breedCurrent Weight: 16 lbs (expected to be a large dog when grown) Parker is an irresistibly sweet and spunky puppy looking for her forever home! This adorable girl has the perfect blend of playful energy and total cuddle-bug charm. She loves toys, especially anything with a squeaker, and enjoys romping around outside. But her favorite place of all is curled up right in your lap. She’s a cozy, affectionate companion who melts into snuggles the moment you sit down. Parker gets along beautifully with every dog she’s met so far. We’re not yet sure how she feels about cats or kids, but her friendly, gentle nature gives her lots of potential. She’s working hard on her leash skills and crate training. She may still bark a bit in the crate, but she’s improving every day! Parker is a bright, eager-to-learn puppy who picks up routines quickly. She is doing great with house training on a routine, but is still a puppy so expect some accidents while you figure each other out and she learns how to hold it for longer periods of time. She settles well after playtime and has a wonderful “off switch” for relaxation. If you’re looking for a lovable, joyful puppy who will bring warmth, fun, and lots of snuggles into your home, Parker just might be your perfect match!  Adoption Application: www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt  ************************Parker is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at www.jasperslegacy.org/apply-to-adopt Adoption process:Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved. From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption. ##2592766##

Story
Luna is 6 years old. She is a pure-bred Australian Cattle Dog. She is extremely loyal to those she loves. She is trained on an off leash. She responds to commands very well. She knows: Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Place, Roll Over, Wait, Kiss, Paw, and much more. She can be very loving when she wants to, and loves to be around those she loves at all times. She is not friendly toward strangers and those she does not know. She would need someone who is willing to build the relationship with her. She is not very loving towards kids. She is not aggressive, but does not know how to control her body or actions around them. She is a very anxious dog as well. She is on anxiety medication to help. The right home would be either an individual, or couple with no plans for kids. She would be a great dog for the right fit.

Story
Blue was adopted from the Animal Shelter in 2016, now 9 years old. She still loves to be active and enjoys a good session of fetching a ball but doesnt last as long as she used to before she is ready to be petted and rest. She is used to being outside all day and kenneled inside at night. She would enjoy being inside more but that hasnt been our style of dog ownership. Our life has changed due to kids growing up; we feel Blue is lonely and we cant give her the time/ companionship she deserves-she would live a fuller enjoyable life if she had other dog(s) companion around. She has typical cattle dog traits, enjoys a good round of fetch, knows many tricks, super smart, enjoys company, not a continual barker thankfully.
