Story
**Koko is also looking for a Foster or a Foster to Adopt! ** Koko is a bouncy, resilient 7 month old 25 pound cattle dog and she’s ready for her forever home! Koko arrived to the rescue as a puppy from a horrendous hoarding case, with a deformed paw. Her back right leg has been removed, but that doesn’t slow down this tripod! Koko is incredibly smart and can learn new patterns and behaviors so quickly. She walks well on leash, offering nice engagement and check ins and she has great recall. True to heeler form, once she bonds with you, she will do anything for you. She is very food motivated and loves to learn. Koko can be suspicious of strangers but warms up nicely with proper introductions. Once you’re in, you’re in, and she is such a snuggle bug. Koko is crate trained and potty trained and does great in the car. She would benefit from an experienced cattle dog handler as she can be mouthy when over excited and has many common breed specific traits. Koko would benefit from a quieter home. She is hoping for a house with no children under 14 years of age. She can be leash reactive with surprises, such as people approaching without consent or off leash dogs, but has made tremendous progress using positive reinforcement. Koko does well with dogs with slow intentional intros or would thrive as an only dog, soaking up the attention for herself. Koko is neutered, microchipped and has received age-appropriate core vaccines. Koko is being fostered in Salem and the adoption fee is $390. If you're interested in meeting Koko, please fill out an adoption application on our website: pnwcdr.org/adopt Please note: We do not do DNA testing on our foster dogs. The breed description is our best guess based on the dog’s appearance, mother’s appearance, paperwork, etc. Our Adoption Process: Adoption Application Phone Convo Meet & Greet Home Visit Application Approval Adoption Fee & Contract Our adoption application is at pnwcdr.org/adopt Curious about fostering? Story
Howdy, I'm Buster! I am a 7 month old blue heeler mix, and I am currently in foster to learn some puppy manners like how to potty outside, how to come when my name is called, and how to sleep in a crate at night! I like it when my foster mom plays piano lullabies to help me sleep through the night without whining. Since I am so young, I am still fairly mouthy, but my foster mom is working on that too! However, since I am a heeler, a little of that is to be expected; herding is in my genes. For that reason, I would love to go to a home with heeler-savvy parents, and/or people with puppy training experience who are willing to work with my mouthy puppy habits. I'd love to find a fur-ever home with active people, but since I like to herd small humans and sometimes nip heels, I'd be better in a house with adults only. Right now I don't like being picked up or getting shots (who does!) but my foster mom thinks I'll get better at this with a little patience and trust-building.I have a lot of energy and like to be active, but I also love snuggling! I really like playing with other dogs, though sometimes they can overwhelm me. I've met chickens and cats, and even though I like to herd them, I don't want to hurt them. So I would do well with confident cats, and I think I might like to live on a farm, as long as I have a warm lap to cuddle on at night. I love toys and I respond well to treats. I would make a great hiking partner and best friend for life. I get attached quickly and can't wait to find my person-- I am sure you will fall in love with me too! I am about 35lbs right now and shouldn't get much bigger, but since I am a mixed breed, we don't know what my adult weight will be. My puppy adoption fee is $300, Benton County adopters have an additional licensing fee of $10.

Adoption Fee $200 Arrival Date: 6/2/2022Microchip #982091067705771Weight 45.6 LBSAre you looking to truly make a difference in a shelter dog's life? Meet Waylon. Waylon is not for everyone. It's safe to say 95% of homes will not be the right home for Waylon. We are looking for the 5% that can give this amazing soul the best chance at a fulfilled life. Highly Intelligent, athletic, eager to please and even more eager to learn- this guy craves mental stimulation and purpose. This is not a family pet. Waylon is looking for a quiet home with adults only that are dog savvy with no other pets, bonus points if you have a large fenced-in yard or live off of the grid. Yes, we know- that is a lot to ask. He is looking for supervised meetings with new people and no dog parks. Waylon has started playing in small controlled dog play groups. He loves to play chase, it's absolutely amazing to watch him escape his worries for a bit and be a dog. The reward waiting for you is Waylon's absolute and pure devotion to you. The kind of love that we humans never deserve. Waylon is a little over 4 years old and weighs around 45 lbs. There is a very small chance you will hit it off the first time you meet. If Waylon's story were to be streamed, it wouldn't be on Disney +. Maybe Starz, but probably HBO. Be prepared to stop in several times to slowly meet this boy and nurture a genuine connection with him. Waylon is looking for a hero, is that hero you? If you have any questions or would like to set up a time to meet Waylon, please call the shelter or email steph@safehavenhumane.com

Story
In a world of fur and joy, there's a Heeler named Brownie, oh so coy, With fur as red as autumn leaves, he's the cleverest of canine thieves. At two, he's full of boundless glee, a furry friend for you and me. Smart as a whip, this Heeler boy, his heart's a treasure, a boundless joy. In tricks and flips, he finds delight, learning with all his canine might. Two years old, his spirit free, a loyal friend, he longs to be. Attuned to you, his person dear, his love's a bond that's crystal clear. Bestest friend, he aims to be, beside you through eternity. Fetch and roll, and sit and stay, he'll dance and prance, bright as the day. With every bark, a tale he'll weave, of loyalty that won't deceive. He dreams of walks and treats galore, his heart, your love, forevermore. Brownie, the Heeler, red and bright, a canine star, a pure delight. In fields of green and skies so blue, he'll be the bestest friend to you. Brownie has the desire to be with his person and would make a great and loving support dog or full time companion. He is focused on his people (and the belly rubs they give!!!) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Are you in search of a one-of-a-kind serial kisser? Well, look no further, because I, Mandy, am the dog you've been waiting for! I come with a mix of awesomeness and a charming personality that's sure to steal your heart. I can be delightfully laid-back, enjoying those calm moments, or I can transform into a bouncing ball of joy when the mood strikes. Walks and jogs? Count me in, especially if you're by my side. But here's the thing-I love playing with other dogs so much that I often choose their company over toys. Let's talk sunbathing. If your couch has that perfect spot for catching rays, you can bet I'll be there, soaking it all in. I'm a big fan of lounging, whether it's under tables, during dinner time, while you're working at your desk, or even when you're cuddled up in bed. I'm all about being close to my people, and if you choose to adopt me, I'll be all about you! I'm a sociable girl, getting along well with other dogs and kids (especially with submissive/non-dominant dogs). My crate training and potty training with a doggy door are top-notch. I'm a pro at commands like going to my crate and sitting patiently. Now, about my diet-here's the deal: I have EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), which means my pancreas doesn't produce the enzymes I need to digest food properly. Thanks to some attentive rescuers and veterinary care, we've got it all figured out. I'll need a specific diet and a pancreatic enzyme replacement supplement to keep me feeling great. Think of it as a special appetizer and entree at every meal. EPI won't slow me down, and I'm ready to trade serial kisses for a loving forever home day in and day out. So, how about it? Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
