Birdie is the sweetest, most affectionate dog but requires a lot of attention due to her special needs. She has some separation anxiety and does finds strangers very scary. Birdie is looking for a home with a routine, and for a family that tends to hang out around the home.

Story
Hello, I`m Ambrose. I`m a sweet guy looking for my forever family! I`m looking for a loving and active family who I can join on all their adventures. I love to go on walks, hikes and I would even make a great running companion. Although I do have the itch for adventure, I also have a heart of gold that`s full of love and I love to snuggle with my humans during down time. If you are looking for a sweet face to always greet you at the door when you come home and a loyal adventure companion, I`m your guy! If you have other dogs in your home, I`d like to meet them first to make sure we get along. I met some dogs here at Heartland and I preferred to do my own thing.

Story
Willow is 4 years old, and is a very sweet, cuddly, and playful Mini Australian Shepherd. She is smart and easy to train. She loves to play fetch, go to the beach, and chase squirrels. She does very well with grooming, and tolerates baths, brushing, and nail clippings as necessary tasks (so long as treats are involved). I've never seen her be aggressive toward anyone, even during uncomfortable vet visits. Except for the occasional dish rag, she knows what is hers and will only chew on toys or cardboard that is given to her. We are looking for a new home that will have more time to work with her. She needs more of a job/mental stimulation than we are able to give her. She is a very anxious dog, and struggles with being apart from us when we go to work or leave the house. She is generally house trained, but has begun having accidents when we leave her alone for a shower. A new home for her would need experience with training working breeds to set her up for success.

Story
Cindrella is a true princess! She is a double-merele Australian Shepard and will need to go to a home without young children. She does really well with other animals and has lived with both cats and dogs. Without being able to hear, our younger kids really startle her and she can be a little defensive when that happens. For the safety of our kids, we need to find her a home with older children or just adults. She really is a sweetheart, and loves to be around her people. She has grown a lot in the couple years we have had her, she has learned to come (with a vibration collar), sit and fetch. We do love her and will want her to go to a home where she won't be fearful of all the commotion that comes with younger kids. Please feel free to send a message with any questions you may have or to meet Cinderella.

"not the mama, NOT the mama!!" Anyone remember the cute dinosaur show from the early 2000's?? Well, we said that so many times to our "bottle baby fosters" they just didn't know what to do with us :) But they kept feeding us, waking up at all hours of the night and making sure we were fed and happy and loved..... SO, we are growing quickly and getting ready for our furever families!! Not the mama goes to the wayside when we meet you :D We are happy go lucky pups, Bear Bear is more sensitive than his sisters, he was the shyest pup but has come out of his shell, he is the one who will cuddle with you (until someone else wants to play). Sissies Lioness and Cheeta are spicy girls, loving and playful and Lioness likes to hang out behind things and then cry for help to get out.... or she cries because she is alone, OR she cries because no one has gotten her yet! Cheeta is more independent but will let you hold her and cuddle for about 10 min and then it is back to exploring and playing with her siblings :) As their foster moms, we love these little turds and pray they find the right homes for them. Active and adventurous for the girls and more laid back for Bear! ADOPT....DON'T SHOP!!! WE cannot save more without adoptions!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Hey there, I’m Luna — a beautiful mix of Border Collie, Retriever, and Black Lab, with 11 years of love, loyalty, and adventure under my paws. I weigh about 47 pounds, and though I’m starting to get a little stiff in my back legs, my heart is still full of energy and joy. I grew up on five acres with four awesome boys, running, swimming, and exploring every inch of the outdoors. For the past ten years, I’ve been part of a wonderful family that loves me deeply. They’ve recently become full-time RV travelers, but life on the road isn’t what’s best for me anymore. They know I deserve a home where I can stretch out, nap in the sunshine, and enjoy the familiar rhythms of home life — that’s where you come in. I’m house trained and walk nicely on leash! I can get a little excited or unsure when I see other dogs on walks, but once I’ve had a proper introduction, I settle right in and can be quite friendly. I also love to chat with the animals I spot outside — I just have a lot to say! I’m used to kids and other dogs, and I’m happiest when I can spend time outdoors, even when it’s chilly. I like having my own dog bed to nap on during the day, and I’m just as content watching the world go by as I am splashing in the water — swimming is one of my favorite things! These days, I need a little help getting in and out of the car, but I’m still ready for long walks, fresh air, and love. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will bring a decade’s worth of wisdom and warmth into your life, I’m ready to make new memories with you. Let’s find a quiet, cozy place together — I promise I’ll make it feel like home.

Story
Hi I’m Jackson! Nice to meet you! I’m an 11-year-old border collie/greyhound, but I still play like a puppy and have a heart full of loyalty. I weigh 48 pounds, love a good nap on the couch or bed, and still have the agility to run, play, and explore. I used to live on a quiet rural property with the best human dad, where we had all the space in the world. After he passed away, life changed. I moved into town with my other human, but the busy streets and close neighbors have been hard on both of us. I can get a little overexcited when I see dogs, deer, or other surprises on walks — I might bark or pull on leash because I’m just not sure what to do with all that energy! In safe, off-leash areas, I relax and can share space nicely with other dogs (as long as I’m not feeling left out of the people fun). I’m very people-focused and get excited to see kids, but with my strength and excitement, I might be too much in a home with little ones. My human loves me very much but can’t give me the exercise I need anymore. My ideal home? A quiet place in the country or a peaceful neighborhood, with an adult or two who want a loyal, energetic companion and have time to spend with me. I'd love a place with no kids and no other pets — so I can focus on loving you! Sound like a good fit? Please apply! I've been at SDRO a long time and would love to find my second lease on life.
