Story
SHYA is a 1 year 3 month old Australian Kelpie, weighing about 28lbs. She was lost and taken to an overcrowded shelter where she was not claimed in time and was due to be euthanized, but was saved by an emergency foster at the last minute. She now needs her forever home as soon as possible. Shya is very sweet and loving, but a bit shy, timid and scared (non-aggressive, submissive), and needs preferably a female human with a little time and patience to help her learn to trust again. She settled into her foster home within a couple of hours, and is very playful and affectionate with her foster mom. She loves cuddles and belly rubs! Shya does suffer from some separation anxiety, and will need to be helped through this. Shya gets on well with other dogs. Submissive and cautious at first, she loves to chase and be chased by small dogs, or dogs her own size. Wrestling is also great fun! She is good with large, chill dogs, but scared of boisterous dogs, or dogs that bark continually. SHYA is fully housebroken, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is smart, with a lovely temperament, and will make a wonderful addition to a loving person’s life. Story
2 yr old tricolor M/N Kelpie/GSD mix Looking for a dogs dog?? Gunner is your guy! He was comfortable enough around me, allowed touch, took treats, interacted some with me, but he really really wanted to play with the big dog in the next yard. He wasn't aloof though! Took treats gently, eager to please and loved being called a good boi, it was a fun yard time for both us us He does seem to be feeling the stress from the shelter, some have had some trouble getting him out of his kennel but he was perfectly behaved for me. This is an active breed, he will need consistent physical and mental exercise to be happy, it is likely what is causing his current stress and occasional barrier reactivity. It is worth noting that he was a very loud bork monster when I first approached his kennel but after 3 treats he was ready to follow me anywhere I was going Knows how to sit, walks well on the leash (just a tiny bit of pulling) and seemed potty trained!! ##2528145##

Buster was rescued as a tiny pup from a side walk in South Central. He's all grown up now at a perfect medium size. He LOOOOVES to play with other dogs and toys. He's great inside the home and super affectionate. Buster is looking for an adult household with yard access. He would love to find a home with another dog as a companion that is young and playful. He has a friend named Cookie at our rescue so if you are looking for two dogs, these two are great together! Buster loves car rides, the dog park and walks in the park or hikes around the area! Story
Meet Opal! A spirited five-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog currently living in Milwaukie, OR (a suburb of Portland, Oregon) whose essence is a delightful mix of sass, smarts, and snuggliness wrapped in a striking merle coat. Opal is the kind of girl who throws herself wholeheartedly into everything she loves, whether it’s chasing a squeaky toy across the living room, gently play-biting your hand in the most hilarious display of affection, or performing her signature “fishtail spin” during a round of zoomies that’ll leave you laughing every time! Though she has hip dysplasia, which means long hikes and intense activity are off the table, she still adores walks and bursts of play, especially if there's a tennis ball involved. Watch out, she will chew it to bits with great satisfaction! Like many clever herding breeds, Opal has a strong personality and a clear communication style. She’s a girl who knows what she likes and what she doesn’t. She feels safest when her world is calm and predictable, and she connects most deeply with one trusted person. Her current caregivers, along with a professional canine behavior specialist, have helped her build confidence through structure, routine, and lots of gentle encouragement. Opal has also shown some defensive behaviors in the home, particularly with unfamiliar visitors. She has given a few quick nips when people move through her space or try to interact with her before she feels ready. While she has been calm and well-mannered in public settings, a busy household or one with frequent guests can be challenging for her. A quieter environment where introductions can be managed thoughtfully will set her up for success. Opal is looking for a low-traffic home without children or other pets, where she can relax and be her funny, loyal self. A quiet lifestyle suits her best. She is not a fan of sudden changes or lots of visitors, but give her a cozy space, a caring human, and a predictable routine, and she’ll reward you with her whole heart. This medium-sized gal (about 40 pounds of pure personality) is smart as a whip! She’s had obedience training, knows her commands (sit, stay, come, shake, down), and listens especially well when her environment is calm and consistent. Plus, she comes with a lifetime training plan from Bark Busters, which her caregivers will transfer to you for a fee of about $300 to Bark Busters. It’s a wonderful resource to help support her continued success. She’s crate trained, house-trained, microchipped, and vaccinated. She even enjoys relaxing to music when you’re away and will snooze peacefully until you're back. She’s been described as deeply loyal, silly in all the best ways, and totally tuned in to the person she trusts. Opal isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. But for someone looking for a one-of-a-kind companion, she could be the dog of your dreams! Ready to welcome this bright, bold girl into your life and share in her next round of zoomies? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Opal and see if you’re her perfect match! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Scooby! A lively one-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Belgian Malinois/Whippet mix currently living in Tustin, CA, whose boundless energy and affectionate nature make him an incredible companion for the right home. Wrapped in a sleek black-and-tan coat, this playful pup is most comfortable and playful in familiar environments. While he loves to explore and have fun, he can be cautious in new situations and needs a little time to warm up before fully diving into the adventure. Once he feels secure, though, he’s ready to match the energy of his canine friends at the dog park, big or small. He could run for an hour (or more!) and still come home eager for more playtime. Scooby is a smart boy who already knows commands like sit, down, stay, and go to your mat, but he thrives in a calm and consistent environment where he can continue learning at his own pace. While he’s eager to bond, he tends to be hesitant around new people at first. However, once he trusts you, you’ll have a loyal, affectionate companion who loves to cuddle! He’s done great with older kids (ages 10-17) and has been gentle with an elderly family member. This high-energy pup does well with other dogs and enjoys their company, but he can be possessive over high-value treats like bones. Mealtime has been peaceful in his current home as long as food bowls are kept separate. When it comes to cats, though, Scooby doesn’t quite understand that they don’t want to play like dogs do, so a cat-free home would be best. He’s also shown a strong prey drive toward smaller animals like birds and rabbits, making a home without small pets the ideal fit. Scooby is crate trained and sees it as his safe space, especially when new guests arrive. He’s mostly house-trained, though he may have occasional small accidents when overly excited or nervous. He has a sensitive stomach and benefits from probiotics and antacids, as certain foods (especially dairy) don’t sit well with him. If you have a quiet home, patience, and plenty of space for an energetic dog to run and play, Scooby could be the perfect match for you! Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Scooby today.
