Story
Meet Maya ❤️ She’s a 5 year old Australian Kelpie (might have a lil huskie in her). She is up to date on all vaccines and is spayed. She looks larger in pictures, but in only around 30 lbs (around Shiba Inu size) She desperately needs a yard or a farm! She has an innate herding instinct and would be a GREAT working dog. She’s great with other dogs, cats, and kids! She loves to train. Knows sit, stay, down, place, crate, spin, and hops. Message me if you would like to meet her, she really is a fantastic dog, but city life is just not the best life for her 💔. My husband and I would love to assist in any way going forward.

Story
Hi, Im Mr. Phillip. No one knows my real name or age, but I’m about 1 to 2 years old. I was left behind by my first owner and found by two kind people who are helping me find a forever home. I love other dogs, bouncy balls, chew toys, and walks. I’ve got a lot of energy and love being around people. I’m good with cats even if they scare me a little and I adore kids, though I can get a bit too excited sometimes. I don’t like being in a kennel, but I’m house-trained and won’t mess anything up if I’m left alone (just not all day, please). I always want attention and cuddles. I’m gentle, playful, and always ready to be your best friend. I may not remember my past, but I know what I want in the future: a home, a family, and someone to love me as much as I’ll love them. I’ve got so much love to give, and I can’t wait to share it. Let’s make the rest of my story the best part yet. Mr. Phillip 🐾

Story
SHYA is a 1 year 3 month old Australian Kelpie, weighing about 28lbs. She was lost and taken to an overcrowded shelter where she was not claimed in time and was due to be euthanized, but was saved by an emergency foster at the last minute. She now needs her forever home as soon as possible. Shya is very sweet and loving, but a bit shy, timid and scared (non-aggressive, submissive), and needs preferably a female human with a little time and patience to help her learn to trust again. She settled into her foster home within a couple of hours, and is very playful and affectionate with her foster mom. She loves cuddles and belly rubs! Shya does suffer from some separation anxiety, and will need to be helped through this. Shya gets on well with other dogs. Submissive and cautious at first, she loves to chase and be chased by small dogs, or dogs her own size. Wrestling is also great fun! She is good with large, chill dogs, but scared of boisterous dogs, or dogs that bark continually. SHYA is fully housebroken, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. She is smart, with a lovely temperament, and will make a wonderful addition to a loving person’s life. Story
Meet Birdie! A sensitive and stunning three-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix in Los Angeles, CA, whose brilliant red mottled coat and soulful eyes reflect her journey of resilience and growth. Birdie spent over a year in a shelter before finding her footing in a loving home, and she’s come a long way since. With daily structure, consistent care, and force-free training, this 55-pound explorer has blossomed into a clever, affectionate companion who thrives on adventure and routine. She’s a trick lover and eager performer—whether it’s “put it in the box,” leash-fixing on command, or offering a high five with either paw, Birdie shines brightest when she’s learning and engaging with her people. Her favorite pastimes include hiking, wading through streams, rolling on dried sweet potatoes, and winding down with a cuddle or brushing session. Birdie does well with most other dogs, especially those she knows, and becomes a wiggly goofball when reunited with familiar friends. During her initial transition from the shelter, she displayed protective behavior in a few high-stress situations involving unfamiliar visitors and unexpected interactions. These moments were brief and low-level—no harm caused—and stemmed from her need for space and predictability, which is now well understood and actively managed. Thanks to regular training and a stable routine, Birdie is now calm at home, crate- and house-trained, and walks beautifully on leash. She continues to benefit from anxiety medication as she builds confidence and settles into new environments. With a thoughtful, dog-savvy caregiver—especially someone familiar with working breeds—Birdie truly shines. She is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Her ideal match is a family who works from home, has a fenced yard, and enjoys an active lifestyle. While she hasn’t had much exposure to cats, she does well with most dogs and appreciates slow introductions. We’re also including a month of professional behavioral support to help Birdie settle into her next chapter with ease and reassurance. If you're ready to welcome a soulful sidekick with a big heart and a bigger smile, Birdie might just be the perfect fit for your family. Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more!

Story
Meet Scooby! A lively one-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Belgian Malinois/Whippet mix from Tustin, CA, whose boundless energy and affectionate nature make him an incredible companion for the right home. Wrapped in a sleek black-and-tan coat, this playful pup is most comfortable and playful in familiar environments. While he loves to explore and have fun, he can be cautious in new situations and needs a little time to warm up before fully diving into the adventure. Once he feels secure, though, he’s ready to match the energy of his canine friends at the dog park, big or small. He could run for an hour (or more!) and still come home eager for more playtime. Scooby is a smart boy who already knows commands like sit, down, stay, and go to your mat, but he thrives in a calm and consistent environment where he can continue learning at his own pace. While he’s eager to bond, he tends to be hesitant around new people at first. However, once he trusts you, you’ll have a loyal, affectionate companion who loves to cuddle! He’s done great with older kids (ages 10-17) and has been gentle with an elderly family member. This high-energy pup does well with other dogs and enjoys their company, but he can be possessive over high-value treats like bones. Mealtime has been peaceful in his current home as long as food bowls are kept separate. When it comes to cats, though, Scooby doesn’t quite understand that they don’t want to play like dogs do, so a cat-free home would be best. He’s also shown a strong prey drive toward smaller animals like birds and rabbits, making a home without small pets the ideal fit. Scooby is crate trained and sees it as his safe space, especially when new guests arrive. He’s mostly house-trained, though he may have occasional small accidents when overly excited or nervous. He has a sensitive stomach and benefits from probiotics and antacids, as certain foods (especially dairy) don’t sit well with him. If you have a quiet home, patience, and plenty of space for an energetic dog to run and play, Scooby could be the perfect match for you! Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Scooby today.

Story
Meet Willow! Looking for the perfect mix of adventure buddy and cuddle companion? Meet Willow, a five-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Siberian Husky mix from Portland, OR. With her sleek black coat, striking white accents, and soulful eyes, this 55-pound sweetheart is equal parts athletic and affectionate. Willow’s perfect day is a blend of outdoor fun and cozy relaxation. She loves hiking, running, swimming, and playing catch, but by evening, she’s all about snuggling on the couch. She’s content with two brisk 30-minute walks a day but would happily join an active owner on longer outings. Smart, polite, and eager to please, Willow is crate-trained, house-trained, and knows her basic commands—plus fun tricks like “roll over”! She’s food-motivated and learns quickly, making training a rewarding experience. Unlike some pups, she won’t beg at the table or counter surf—what a well-mannered girl! When it comes to socializing, Willow is friendly with strangers and enjoys playdates with most dogs, but she does best in structured settings like pack walks or one-on-one meetups with compatible pups. Dog parks aren’t her scene, and she can be leash-reactive, but a confident handler helps her stay focused on walks. Because Willow can be a high-energy jumper, she’ll need a secure, fenced yard to explore safely. She’ll thrive in a child-free home where she can soak up all the love. No cats for this girl, but she’ll bring endless devotion to the right family. Could Willow be your perfect match? If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who’s ready for adventure and downtime, Willow is waiting to meet you! Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to start your journey with this incredible girl!
