Story
We adopted Bella from the Humane Society when she was four months old, and she has grown into a sweet, clever, and energetic dog. I’m looking for a home that can give her the care she truly needs including plenty of exercise, consistent routines, and social time with other dogs. Bella can be a little skittish at first, but once she trusts you, she becomes a very affectionate, clingy companion. She is extremely smart and learns quickly when someone gives her patience and guidance. She would thrive with an active family or someone familiar with working or high-energy breeds. I want to make sure she goes to a safe, stable, and loving home.

Story
2 yr old tricolor M/N Kelpie/GSD mix Looking for a dogs dog?? Gunner is your guy! He was comfortable enough around me, allowed touch, took treats, interacted some with me, but he really really wanted to play with the big dog in the next yard. He wasn't aloof though! Took treats gently, eager to please and loved being called a good boi, it was a fun yard time for both us us He does seem to be feeling the stress from the shelter, some have had some trouble getting him out of his kennel but he was perfectly behaved for me. This is an active breed, he will need consistent physical and mental exercise to be happy, it is likely what is causing his current stress and occasional barrier reactivity. It is worth noting that he was a very loud bork monster when I first approached his kennel but after 3 treats he was ready to follow me anywhere I was going Knows how to sit, walks well on the leash (just a tiny bit of pulling) and seemed potty trained!! ##2528145##

Story
Ceasar is a 15mth old altered male kelpie mix Ceasar Hey, I’m Ceasar. I’ll be real with you — I’m still figuring this whole “new people” thing out. Meeting strangers makes me nervous, and if I feel cornered, I might snap. But here’s the thing: once I get to know you and trust you, my softer side comes out, and I can relax and be myself. The good news? I get along with dogs way easier than I do with people! They help me feel comfortable and confident. With patience, training, and someone willing to go slow, I know I can keep improving just like I did with my foster. If you’re the type of person who believes in second chances and helping an underdog shine, I’d love to be your project pup and, eventually, your best friend. ##2498991##

Veronica Female Boxer MixDOB: 11/24/2024Adoption Fee: $225Veronica is a pup with big aspirations! She is so smart and would excel in any training. Her high energy and sharp wit make her the ideal dog for active families. She enjoys being out in playgroups with other dogs, and she is doing well with learning social cues. We would love to send this sweet girl home with someone who is going to dedicate the time to help her become a well-behaved adult dog. If you are prepared to commit to hours of training and exercise to help Veronica live the best life possible, you should stop by to meet her! Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. For more information on any of our pets, please feel free to email us at INFO@HUMANEMORGAN.ORG give us a call at 706-343-9977. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are FeLv/FIV negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Story
Meet Paige Paige is a beautiful young dog. She was surrendered when her family became homeless. They couldn’t care for Paige any longer. They came to our shelter on the very last day of 2025, exhausted and heartbroken. The surrender was tough. Paige was scared and sad, but the family was at peace knowing Paige would be safe at our no kill shelter. Paige is a two-year-old medium sized dog, about 33 - 35 lbs. She has a gorgeous black coat, alert eyes and a friendly smile. It’s hard to know her breeds, but she most looks like an Australian Kelpie, with perhaps a little Dutch Shepherd thrown in. We aren’t really sure though. She is coming out of her shell and showing her personality to our staff. But she is still scared and uncertain and very sad. She wants to trust us but is timid. Only when we get her walking and we talk to her does she begin to relax. We’ve moved her to a quieter location where she can decompress. It seems to be helping. She’s eating better but is still so thin. Her owners said she loves fetch, jumps for attention and gives hugs. Paige likes people, does well with kids, and likes dogs. She lived with a cat and should be fine with one as long as introductions are handled responsibly. Paige walks well on a leash and she’s housetrained too. Paige is a great young dog. She’s just lost everything but is trying hard to be brave. She loves going into the yard with our staff. She’s curious and likes to sniff, but has a wonderful habit of checking in. She’s a sweet girl and will be a wonderful addition to your family. If looking for a medium sized, smart and beautiful dog who just needs some TLC, get your application in for Paige. If interested in welcoming Paige to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please use the downloadable application found on our homepage. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.

Story
I got my pet from an accidental pregnancy. She is 1 years old and was born Dec 1st 2024. I’m looking for a new home with a loving energetic owner. Quinn is energetic, playful, very affectionate, and silly. She is crate trained and is potty trained as well. My mental health does not allow me to be as energetic as I would like to be for her and I do not have suitable living conditions for her at this moment. That is the reason why I have to re home her to give her the life she desperately deserves.
