Smokie is as handsome as he is well mannered. He originally came from a breeder and lived with a family (including 4 kiddos) for almost 2 years. When the family moved out of state, he was kept in a friend’s shed until the shelter would take him in. We’ve learned many things about this very good boy since coming under our care. Besides being house trained and knowing basic commands, he’s also good in the car, leash trained, and is up for any adventure. We’ve had a few field trips with Smokie to the Mueller area. He’s calm and confident and always says thank you for field trips by giving us cuddles. If you’re looking for a confident and handsome adventure buddy, he’s your boy! I’M NOT AT APA! yet, but I’m hoping my turn is coming soon. I’m currently at a partner shelter, and I’ve been placed on their Urgent Placement List - which means I’m one of their highest priority dogs to find a way out. I’ve been told that if someone steps up to foster or adopt me, APA! will bring me into their program and help me get ready for home life, so I'm just waiting to be chosen. He was found in a dumpster with his siblings and was adopted by us shortly after from the shelter. Very hyper active, and has extreme chewing and what I consider pica. Eats any toy we give him, any furniture he’s around including walls and window edges. I want him to go to someone who knows how to handle extreme behavior like this, because we are at our wits end as renters. Other than his behavioral issues he’s a sweet and loving dog who is very gentle with our cat. Has never shown aggression to people or other animals he has met. Can be a bit skiddish at first but always comes around to wanting to make a new friend.
