Story
From Hamlet's foster mom: Hamlet is an affectionate, loving dog. He takes instruction very easily and is food/treat-motivated. He loves sleeping in a crate overnight, and whenever we leave the house for an extended time, is happy enough to be in there during the day even though his older foster brother is not crated. Hamlet has gotten along with anyone who visits, contractors at our house, other dogs at the dog park, loves to be outside (and goes out often daily), and does a great job leash walking the neighborhood with a Gentle Leader. He is an energetic but not excitable two-year-old who loves to run and play, is working on "fetch" and "bring", enjoys chew toys, snuggles on the couch and recliner, and has learned to sit and wait for his dinner. Hamlet would thrive with an active family with an outside fenced yard (although he could learn an electric fence probably as he is very smart) and while he has a gruff bark, does not use it frequently, only in play with his dog mates. He is short-haired and has taken well to being groomed as he enjoys touch. We think he is a wonderful mix of Labrador with Dutch shepherd, boxer, or American bulldog, or any of the above. Hamlet is, however, working on loving a car ride, and we believe with our frequent trips to the dog park he will soon love it. He is super friendly; we can't say enough about this foster, as he will make a loving family member. Story
Our Mercury has a broken heart! He came to us from frazzled New York owners who had adopted him as a puppy from a rescue group that had brought him up from the South. When the adoption mismatch became evident, the rescue would not reclaim him. Mercury has been hard hit by losing his family, and it took some time for him to adjust to foster care. As a timid, youngster, the shock of a multi-dog foster life caused him great distress.  Mercury needs a rescue savvy adopter to patiently help him live his best life. He appears to be an Australian Shepherd mix, who seemed out of place in his big city surroundings. It's not easy to own a Herding dog in the city, due to their tenacious high energy and work ethic, but Mercury seems more mild-mannered than most of the Herders we've known.  Despite the chaotic foster environment, Mercury seemed to hold his own and avoid trouble. He seems more at home in the Connecticut countryside.  At 66 pounds, Mercury has a graceful, leggy stance, and his fluffy coat is a beautiful brown and white pattern. He is clearly a Herder, so he definitely needs an active lifestyle and a job. Herders are hardwired to work, and if his adopters do not engage him mentally and physically, he will practice his herding skills in the house. A bored, frustrated Herding dog is sure to make mayhem.  Exercise and obedience training are the keys to managing the Herding Breeds. Mercury is a high energy dog, with a shy personality, with some stranger danger. He would thrive in a quiet environment with perhaps one other friendly dog, but kids and cats are a definite no go. Mercury would make a great running, walking or hiking partner. He is built for speed, but will adjust his pace to suit his Handler. Mercury needs at least two brisk daily leash walks, in addition to focused playtime each day.  Obedience training is essential to meeting the needs of a young Herding dog. At two years old, Mercury already knows most basic obedience commands, so adopters should be able to handle him easily. Structure and obedience work go a long way in providing Mercury the mental and physical challenges that he needs. Mercury is best suited to an active adult home, with a dog savvy folks who have the time and energy to give him daily exercise. He is an active boy, who loves to be front and Center with his folks rather than relegated to a backyard.  Mercury has great house manners and he is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. He is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He has received all routine vaccinations and health screenings. If you are interested in Mercury, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application.

Bowie is a 40# 2 yr old male Aussie mix who is the most affectionate dog I have ever met! He is fantastic with my children, dogs and  cats. He is fully potty trained too! Bowie will let you set the tone of the moment. He will go out on a walk with you if that is what you want to do or sit on the sofa to watch TV. All Bowie wants is to be near his human, to be loved by all and to love all!  His gorgeous tricolored coat is very soft, plus he likes to be brushed.  He will lean into you and close his eyes as you brush him. Speaking about Bowie's eyelined eyes , they are one of his best features.  Bowie will stop people in their tracks to stare as you walk him around the neighborhood.  Bowie is available through East Coast Canine Rescue eastcoastcaninerescue.orgApril 29, 2024, 8:11 am

Story
We are trying to help this sweet girl called Bonnie Belle to find a home since her elderly parents are in failing health and cannot care for their five dogs.  Bonnie Belle is a mix of some interesting breeds.  We think she has some Aussie and maybe Boxer in her.  The Australian Shepherd trait is what makes her a protector of the yard and home when strangers approach.  She is the home security dog officer!   This girl is losing her home because her elderly parents have fallen into bad health.  Bonnie Belle is 4 years old and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  She adores people and is good with the other dogs that she spends time with in the fenced yard.  She is housebroken, affectionate and a devoted girl to her family.  If you would like to give Bonnie her next forever home, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue who is helping her at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 30, 2024, 5:09 pm
