Story
Tesla was given a very unfair start to life. She began as a stray in the South and was taken in by a well-meaning individual who was trying to help but became overwhelmed by the number of strays she brought home. Because of this, Tesla found herself uprooted again and surrendered to a crowded, stressful shelter before making the long trip north—all big, overwhelming transitions for a young, sensitive puppy. Once she arrived Tesla was quickly adopted, but she was heartbreakingly returned a month later fearful and insecure. It was clear she hadn’t been given the love, consistency, and attention all dogs—especially puppies—need to feel safe and thrive. Despite everything she has been through, Tesla remains a sweet, resilient girl who is ready to heal with a family willing to show her patience, stability, and the security she’s been missing. She has stayed gentle, loving, and full of potential through it all. She is learning what love and security means. She was a very nervous girl when she arrived at her foster home and now, she's freely sharing her love and loyalty with her temporary mom. With time, reassurance, and a steady home, Tesla will truly flourish and blossom into the confident, happy companion she was always meant to be. Story
~ I`m looking for an active owner who wants an active dog, enjoys training dogs and are willing to invest the time, energy and effort.~ I would do best living in a single family home but may consider condos .~ I`m a super sweet boy but I can be a bit shy and leery of new people and situations. This, combined with my herding breed instincts means I want to live with herding breed savvy adults. I may be willing to consider sharing my home with experienced kids 12 years of age and older (pending introduction).~ I have not had much experience with other dogs but may be willing to consider sharing my home with another likeminded dog.~ I have not had much experience with cats. I may be willing to consider sharing my home with dog savvy cats. Close supervision and training strongly recommended due to herding breed instincts.~ I am a high energy kind of dog and am looking for a home where I can get lots of exercise every day.~ My behavior is very typical for my breed. I would like live with someone who has herding breed experience or at the least experience owning and training a similar working breed dog (i.e. Australian Cattle Dog, Collies, Sheepdogs, Shepherds, Corgis, Malinois, Kelpies, etc.) that displays the same characteristics of herding breeds. While I have not yet displayed these, some herding breed dogs are prone to ankle biting, herding, high energy, resource guarding, destructive when bored, barking and being strong-willed. Herding breed dogs are often loveable and loyal to their owners however that may come with some separation anxiety. ~ I am still learning and want to get off to a great start in my new home. Obedience training strongly recommended.Herding a.When full grown herding dogs are typically medium to large dogs.b.These breeds were born to work. They commonly have strong instincts and a desire to please, but are also able to accomplish and learn things independently. c.If not properly trained and given a job to do, herding breeds will take it upon themselves to find a job (some of which you may not enjoy). d.Due to their herding instinct to keep the “flock” together, they are prone to chase after running kids. While dedicated to their families, herding dogs may do best in a home with older children, teens and/or adults.e.Herding dogs are highly intelligent and require a high level of exercise. They excel not only in herding but also in obedience, agility, tracking and flyball. f

Story
Mr. Dash is like a sad movie dog with a hopeful forever story. He's a bundle of love me energy wrapped in a fuzzy package. Full of energy with a calm core. He's very receptive to guidance and extremely eager to learn how to be loves. This is literally his second chance at life, and he knows it. He's great with cats, kids, piles of puppies, and his dozen foster homies. He plays great, learned hand signals for guidance, and is extremely intelligent. Dash doesn't chew up the household goods and walks great on a leash. He would do best with a buddy because a tired dog is the greatest kind of dog. He would also be great someone active if he was an only dog. If it wasn't for rescue, he wouldn't have had a chance to know how to love and have the opportunity to meet his forever family. Dash is a gentle soul in a 'come love me' kind of way.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
Sweet Dixie has been at the rescue for a little over a year. The group of dogs that she entered care with were quickly adopted out. She is still waiting. Dixie was a young mom who had to scrounge for food while living outside. She no longer has to wonder where her next meal is coming from, but she is still wondering when someone will choose her. Dixie is an energetic girl who just wants to be near her human - she prefers women. She loves to roll in the grass in the sunshine and take walks. Dixie is energetic and enjoys running around at a dog park. Being a heeler, she is very smart and quick to learn. She really wants to please. Dixie would love to find a home where she feels secure and can be active. She will need time to settle in and get used to the routines of the household. Dixie is a sweet girl with a lot of love to give. She is not good with cats and is dog selective.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN.
