Story
Toby Local is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Meet Toby! Toby Obi-Wan Kenobi! Toby is the most adorable Merle Australian Shepherd, weighing about 40 lbs. Sadly, his owner recently passed away & he’s looking for a new family to love! Toby is 9 1/2 yrs old, but don’t let his age fool you! This boy still has lots of energy & loves playing fetch & running free in a fenced in yard. Once he gets his energy out and his needs are meet, he settles down nicely with his humans. Toby is eager to learn & with continued training, will be a master Jedi in no time! Toby is friendly & loves attention from people. He’s house trained and is non-destructive in the home & doesn’t need to be crated. Toby is dog selective & prefers more passive dogs who enjoy his rough style of play. He will bark to warn you when he feels uncomfortable. He should also be fed separately. Toby enjoys going on walks, but as is characteristic of his breed, will chase bicycles, motorcycles, & vehicles passing by. He would do best in a calm household with older, dog savvy children, as he’ll try to herd small children as they run. Prior experience with his breed, their herding tendencies, need for physical & mental stimulation is required. Toby has so much love to give & will make a wonderful, loyal companion. May the force be with you! And Toby Obi-Wan Kenobi! Story
Bowie is a 8 month old Aussie Husky filled with alot of energy and love. He is my best buddy and smart as anything. My son was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and the doctors appointments and ongoing issues had made it very tough for us to give Bowie all the love and attention he deserves. I am hoping to find a loving home that will make him their forever pet because he will always have a piece of our hearts.

Story
A gorgeous momma and her 3 babies came into rescue this past month with a wonderful foster in Memphis - mom is going through heartworm treatment but is still available on our site and you can see how gorgeous she is - no wonder her babies are stunning. Melody - https://pawsnewengland.com/adopt/pet-13311/The puppies are approx 4 1/2 months old and are up to date on all vaccinations and ready to travel - we never guarantee house training status. Torrie sure is happy to be getting good meals and cuddles. She had been camping outdoors with her sisters for a little too long, but she was luckily scooped up and taken in for vetting and a bath - and she is one thankful puppy! Torrie would do best with another dog in the household. Training will be so important in this puppy's life, do you have the time??Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Puppy-Days-Start-Right/dp/0964151871IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. 💕 HALLIE 🎀 Mama Hallie is the sweetest, most affectionate girl. Now that her puppies have found their homes, it’s her turn! Hallie and her sister, Annie, were pulled from the euthanasia list at a local shelter in June. A week after they were pulled, we realized Hallie was expecting! She was the sweetest mama 🫶 Hallie is about 60lbs and about 2-3 years old. She loves going for walks, chasing squirrels in the backyard, and curling up on a bed by her foster mom’s desk. She plays wonderfully with the six other dogs in her foster home. She’s sweet, loving, and so affectionate 🥰

Story
Adoption Donation  $ 599   Located: CT (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details ) Age: 2 years old   Meet Tuff: A Gentle Soul Ready for a Loving Home Hello there! My name is Tuff, and I am an Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as the Outback. I'm reaching out to you from the paws of anticipation, hoping to find my forever family. Let me tell you a little bit about myself! Personality Profile: I'm a Aussie, known for my gentle nature, unwavering loyalty, and boundless love. My heart is brimming with affection, and I can't wait to share it with the right family. I've been fully vetted and I'm ready to embark on a new chapter of life with you! Home Requirements: I'm looking for a home with a 6-foot-plus fence - not because I'm an escape artist, but I do appreciate a secure space to roam and play freely. I must confess, my enthusiasm for goats is undeniable, and I tend to get a little too focused on them. So, a home without small pets or outside livestock would be ideal. Companion and Playmate: I'm a social guy, and having another dog in the family would make me feel right at home. I thrive on companionship and love to engage in playful antics. Together, we can explore the world and create lasting memories. Investment in Training: I'm a smart cookie, but sometimes my focus can wander. I'm looking for a couple or a single individual who's willing to invest in some training sessions to help me sharpen my skills. With a bit of guidance, I know I can become the best version of myself. Crate training isn't my favorite, but fear not—I'm well-behaved inside the house and won't give in to destructive tendencies. If you're someone who can provide a secure environment, lots of love, and a commitment to helping me become the best furry companion, then I think we're a perfect match!  I'm wagging my tail in anticipation of meeting you and starting our journey together. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website   www.fohari.org and email my foster parent for more information:    barnhag@gmail.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.       Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur.
