Story
Meet Magellan! He had been living on the street for a few months when someone asked if we could take him in. He’s sooooo happy and bouncy! He weighs 51 pounds and is about a year old, still a baby with sparkling white teeth! He is GREAT with the other dogs in the yard and so he is able to run free with the front yard pack. He has a chill disposition and isn’t dominant with the other dogs. Believe it or not, sometimes street dogs can be more well adjusted than a dog that is owner surrendered! He’s probably even good with cats, we can always cat test any dog! Magellan loves to play! He would be a great addition to any home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 28, 2024, 3:14 pm

HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please contact Cassandra at cjohnson@arl-iowa.org.---- Came from a situation where she did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age. Because of this, she may struggle with new situations, may show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, may need help understanding leashes, and will need patience and structure with housetraining. - A very sweet girl who always has her tail wagging - Enjoys playing with other dogs in her foster home and would likely benefit from a confident dog friend in her new home to help show her the ropes - Treats are a great way to help her warm up - one of her favorites is spray cheese! - Loves to lie down on soft spots, whether it's a chair, the couch, or a cushion; she loves sleeping on the couch!- Has been doing well with potty training in her foster home, just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new environment and routine - Is working on leash training in her foster home, but has a long way to go, will do best with a fenced-in yard that she can explore freely - Deaf and seems to have impaired vision; being with other dogs helps her understand what's going on, like when it's time to come inside from the yard (more info at ARL) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Weight: 37 Age: 1yrs 2mths 2wks

Because of this, he may struggle with new situations, may show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, may need help understanding leashes, and will need patience and structure with housetraining. - A very sweet guy with lots of potential; just needs the right family to show him love and help him open up! - Prefers to initiate petting and other contact with the people he trusts most, will bop you with his nose to let you know when he wants attention - Likes following his people around and just observing everything - Has been working on leash training in his foster home but currently needs a fenced in yard to roam free in; will probably LOVE going on walks once he is more confident on a leash - Is deaf and relies on the other dogs in his foster home to know when to go outside and come in side (would likely benefit from a dog friend in his new home to help him understand what's going on) - Enjoys playing with other dogs in his foster home The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Story
- Maylee and Merrick are Bonded Buddies and will be adopted as a pair - May enjoy like minded dog friends- Does well on a leash - May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro recommended) - Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) - The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Story
Kiki and Kitsune, named after the animals we resembled when we were saved. Kiki after a coyote name, I mean... look at my ears :) And Kitsune is a fox name, I looked like a little fox when I was saved!! Us girls are sweet and loving and happy with people we know, but you can't blame us for being nervous with new people- we were found abandoned in a field in the deep valley of TX with our dead mother and siblings in a trash bag with us........................ So yes, we are nervous with new people but honestly- new people are only new for a day or two- then you are OUR peeps!! We do not have to be adopted together, but our story is the same so we will share it together... We came to the rescue absolutely petrified but geez, our foster mama was so nice and fed us wonderful food and we were loving on her quickly. So glad to be safe, fed and loved! Now we are preparing for our families and that must be you! We are both gorgeous girls, Kitsune has grown to almost her sister's size, so both are looking to be large full grown pups. Local adoption only so they can meet your families and you can get to know them too! ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!!! SO MANY LIVES DEPEND ON IT!! Local adoption is $250 each (in TX)

Story
Hiya, I'm Chester! I'm a 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Husky mix. I'm a friendly, smart, playful, and energetic pooch. I was found as a stray but now I'm ready for my new forever home. I love treats and would be the best friend you could ask for. Take me home and I'll show you how loyal of a boy I am. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to request an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2009700##
