I am rehoming my dog. She is a great dog but I do not feel that I am the best home for her. She is believed to be a 7 year old Australian shephard and border Collie mix. Here is some information about her -She will be Up to date on all shots -She is not dog friendly (she attempts to herd other dogs and be in control) -She has some stranger danger and will bark at new people (she has never bitten anyone or attempted to bite) -she does well around kids once she has gotten comfortable with them I believe she would do best with someone who is home more often. She is definitely a Velcro dog! I think she would do really well with a nice yard or even as a farm dog! Overall she is a great dog just needs someone that can be home more and is better able to care for her breed and give her the appropriate exercise. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! Meet Maisey — the happiest little shadow you never knew you needed 💕 Maisey is an Australian Shepherd mix with a permanent smile and a heart big enough for every human, dog, and possibly the entire neighborhood. She greets life with full-body wiggles and believes strangers are simply friends she hasn’t leaned on yet. She absolutely adores other dogs and people, and while she’s still deciding what, exactly, a cat is, she’s keeping an open mind. Maisey has a playful streak and may occasionally “borrow” toys and bones, but she’s a gentle thief — if her foster brother files a complaint, she usually surrenders the goods without much protest. Walk time is a work in progress. When she spots a person or pup, Maisey rises onto her hind legs and performs a tiny ballerina dance of joy in an attempt to get closer immediately. She is currently studying the fine art of “walking politely” but enthusiasm keeps interrupting. Her manners are improving daily! She sometimes jumps up when excited or when she suspects someone else is receiving more attention than she is legally comfortable with. If attention levels drop below acceptable standards, Maisey will simply drape her entire body across you like a weighted blanket of love. Despite her joyful personality, Maisey is mostly a quiet girl. She’ll speak up briefly if she needs attention, then returns to her preferred communication style: leaning, snuggling, and loving you with her whole self. Maisey will need continued leash and manners training however she learns quickly with repeated corrections. *She’s great in the yard, no digging or escaping. Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again!
