Story
Chevy is a loyal and loving companion. He loves to trail his people from room to room, looking for some pets or a comfortable spot to lay beside you or at your feet as you go about your day. Chevy is an easy going, middle aged guy. But don't let his age and outward disposition fool you. This guy loves to fetch toys and going for long walks. He loves the squeaky stuffies and will drop them in your lap while awaiting the next toss. The physical activities, aside from being his most favored of the day, will help him lose a bit of excess weight. Chevy would be a good candidate for more advanced training, as he aims to please and is attentive to slight corrections and commands. Especially if there is a tasty treat forthcoming. He also loves to go for car rides and charm everyone he meets by leaning in and letting them pet his lovely, silky fur. Chevy is very easy going with other dogs. He is more of a co-exister at home and is calm but friendly with all the the other dogs be has met. Because Chevy barks when he hears noises outside he home, he is not well suited for apartment life or shared walls. This big fella has a big bark. Chevy has also displayed stranger danger towards men when on walks and will need a patient adopter who can help him work through his reactions in those situations.

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🌾🐾 Meet Emma — Ranch-Raised & Ready for Her Next Assignment! 🐾🌾 2 Years Old • ~70 lbs • Australian Shepherd / Border Collie Mix Emma is a 70-pound bundle of loyalty, brains, and heart — with a résumé that includes “Professional Goat Wrangler” and “Cattle Operations Manager.” This gorgeous 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix grew up on a ranch helping round up goats and cattle like a seasoned pro. She understands responsibility. She understands teamwork. She understands that somebody has to keep things moving in the right direction — and she is more than happy to volunteer. Through no fault of her own, Emma was surrendered in a small town and sat patiently at the pound for months. Just waiting. Watching other dogs leave. Hoping her turn would come. And we made sure it did — because a girl this special and with this much heart deserves more than a kennel and a concrete floor. Emma is incredibly sweet and walks beautifully on a leash. She’s attentive, smart, and very tuned in to her people. She would absolutely thrive on a ranch or property where she can help with chores, check fences, or supervise livestock. But if your “ranch” is more backyard than back forty? That’s okay too. She’ll happily help you: • Corralling wind blown leaves • Patrol for suspicious squirrels • Keep an eye on the kids • Inspect groceries as they’re brought in Now, since Emma was primarily a working ranch dog, we can’t say for certain how much indoor living she’s had or whether she’s fully housebroken. But here’s the thing about Emma — she is incredibly smart. If she needs to learn house rules, it won’t take long at all. Herding dogs don’t just learn fast… they practically pre-install the software themselves. Give her a little guidance and she’ll have it figured out in no time. Emma would love: • A job or daily purpose • Regular exercise and mental stimulation • A home that appreciates a working-minded dog • A family who values loyalty and intelligence She’s not just looking for a couch (though she won’t turn one down after a long day). She’s looking for connection. Purpose. A person or family to devote herself to. Emma has the heart of a worker and the soul of a loyal companion. She’s ready to trade the uncertainty of the past few months for stability, routine, and a forever home where she’s cherished. If you’re looking for a smart, steady, ranch-ready best friend who will work hard, love deeply, and maybe gently herd you toward the kitchen at dinner time, Emma is ready to clock in for life. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org and give this hardworking girl the future she’s been patiently waiting for 💛🐾

Story
From Duke: Why have I been in rescue so long? I love people, play well with most other dogs, really enjoy going for walks, get very excited when you walk in the door, really enjoy cuddling with you, but then I’ll move away when you say enough is enough. So why do I get overlooked all the time? It must be because I am 6 years old and diabetic. But you just wait until you hear about my life!!Duke is the best dog ever! I think people are scared of his diabetes and the expense, but the love and joy that he provides back is worth every penny! His foster mom has taken him to work, he LOVES when people come visit, he will run over to them, sit to get petted and then sits back on his butt and leans right into you to get all the attention that you can possibly give.Diabetes and Duke: When it is time to eat I get excited and can’t wait to get my food because I know we are going to sit down on the floor, I will get some loving pets and you will test my blood sugars, then I get to eat!!! I am really cute when I eat, I lay down with the bowl between my paws and eat from a slow feeder bowl. After that I will sit or lay very nicely while you give me my shot. My foster mom spoils me again by giving me what I think is a treat but is actually a joint supplement since I am not a young pup anymore. I don’t need them yet but she is making sure that I stay young. I don’t make a big deal about being diabetic, its just part of my life now. True I don’t get to have all those fun treats the other dogs get but my foster mom bought me my own special treats! I also like to have fresh peppers, green beans, and even chicken, tuna and salmon!! Mom says for healthy treats for diabetic dogs, focus on low-carbohydrate, high-fiber options like carrots-not too many, green beans-yummy, and lean protein sources like chicken, beef, and fish. Also consider sweet potatoes, which have a low glycemic index. Avoid treats with added sugars or high carbohydrate ingredients like wheat, corn, or rice. My foster mom has done alot of research on dog diabetes, joined a facebook group and learned alot. She has even put together a bunch of information I will bring with me. She bought me a dog tag that says I am diabetic, she has bought me special treats that the other dogs don’t get to have and does alot of other things to spoil me. I do not need a crate, I would like a doggy door and a fenced yard as I do need to go potty more often than the other dogs in my home. From the foster mom and shelter. Duke did well on the vetsulin medication but we have switched to Novolin N from Walmart. This insulin is working very well for Duke and is less expensive than any others we checked on, only $25/vial.____Please Note: We ask that an application be filled out before coming to the shelter. If pre approved, a meeting with the animal will be set up. To fill out an application, go to http://watonwan.weebly.com/adoption-application.html, All animals are current on vaccinations, sterilized and given flea/tick preventative. Cash or check only. Story
This handsome fellow and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Big boy is a gentle boy but does love to run and play with other dogs. Big boy was the largest of the puppies, but his siblings have caught up to him. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application (His adoption fee is only to cover transport and health certificate to travel to another state.)

Story
Meet Miracle — our little Christmas Eve blessing 🎄✨ Born on Christmas Eve, Miracle truly lives up to her name. This Mini Aussie girl may be small, but she has a big heart and so much potential. As a singleton puppy, she’s had lots of one-on-one attention and is very people-focused. Miracle is a quick learner who wants to do the right thing. She’s already sleeping through the night and is making steady progress with her puppy manners, including bite inhibition. She loves to chase toys and play, especially with the adult dogs in her foster home — they help bring out her silly, playful side. While she has plenty of spunk, Miracle is still building her confidence. New situations can make her a little unsure at first, and she can be easily distracted. With gentle guidance, positive reinforcement, and a patient home, she blossoms more each day. Once she feels safe, her sweet and playful personality really shines. Because of her strong love for chase and her energetic play style, Miracle would do best in a home with older children who can be consistent with her training and help reinforce good habits. She will thrive with structure, clear boundaries, and continued positive guidance. Miracle is looking for a supportive family ready to help her grow into her best self. With love, consistency, and encouragement, this little Christmas miracle is going to make an incredible lifelong companion. Could your home be the one that helps her shine? 💕 ******************************************** All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax.
