Story
Kadie is a sweet aussie mix b.10/2019 looking for an active family, preferably with herding dog experience who understands the needs of the breed. Kadie is a very smart and energetic girl with a strong herding instinct. This sweet pup has come a long way with her current owner but, unfortunately, Kadie had a rough start to her life. She is looking for a forever home that can offer her some basic training/help her learn commands and a patient family that wants to help a smart young dog work through a few rough patches.  Kadie loves to meet new people and is a social butterfly, her favorite people tend to be kids of all ages! Kadie is a very smart dog who requires daily exercise (long walks or backyard play), would benefit from a routine, and would love someone who can continue to build her confidence/trust through training and socialization. She is very food motivated and is already kennel trained. Kadie hasn't been around too many dogs and is a little hit or miss when it comes to making canine friends, she tends to like the smaller chill senior pups. She is not a big fan of them on her walks, but she's had some postive interactions. Because of her limited interactions with other 4 legged friends, her former owner thinks that she might do best as an only dog or in a home with a calm, older, wiser dog to provide comfort and friendship while she learns the ropes. Kadie is ready to go home and settle in with a family that understands her needs and can give her the love she deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Kadie is $350. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1377794##

Story
Hank (b. 2/2021) an Australian Shepherd mix. Do you have an adult only, active home? Do you work from home or are home often? Would you be willing to work with your pet to train him to be the best doggo we know he can be? Then Hank may be the best fit for you! Hank is a really good boy, just gets a little nervous and doesn't know how to show his feelings in the right way. A fenced-in yard would be preferred since he has a ton of energy. He loves snuggling and standing up and hugging people. He does great with his toys and will let you take them with no problems. Hank is a very affectionate, playful boy who loves to stand on his hind legs for long periods of time for hugs, snuggle with you on your lap, and get pets. He is a VERY active dog, and loves to play tug-o-war and fetch (even though he doesn’t always want to drop the ball). He would do anything for a treat or an ice cube… he loves to catch and cronch ice cubes as fast as he can. However, Hank can get in grumpy moods where he bares his teeth. Sometimes he is fine with you touching his paw, and other times he isn’t. It depends on his mood. Hank is looking for a calm & patient owner who is willing to work with him at his pace. The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $375. Adoptions for Hank are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. Story
Taffy (b 5/2022) an Australian Shepherd. Taffy is a very active dog.  She is looking for a home with a fenced in backyard so she can get plenty of exercise.  She would not be good as an apartment dog because she is a little vocal when she sees others outside.  She would be best as the only dog.  She loves to play fetch but if you aren’t around, she will throw her toy around and catch it.  She likes people but doesn’t like them in her face.  She will let you give her belly rubs all day long.  Can you provide Taffy with her furever home? The suggested adoption donation for Taffy is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. Story
Meet Avery, an Aussie/Blue Heeler mix born on 9/2021. Avery loves to be the ruler of the house and craves attention! He would do best in a home with no children and adults only. The quieter the home, the better! A home with a yard and toys to play with would also be ideal. He loves to be outdoors sometimes with others present, loves to lay in bed with someone, and likes to play with dogs, but is dog selective, so a home with no dogs is preferred as well. He also loves car rides. He gets over-excited sometimes and anxious, so if other people or dogs come over, it would be best to keep him in a separate room or crated until proper introductions can be done. If in an uncomfortable situation, he will retreat or stay by his owner's feet. If you're looking for Avery to be your one and only, apply to adopt him today! The suggested adoption donation for Avery is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Adoptions for Avery are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainer.
