Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Wahoo, NE *This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.* Meet Whiskey! He is an 2 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix in Wahoo, NE and weighs around 55 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots, but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Whiskey is nervous around strangers, but warms up quickly and loves to cuddle! He is good with kids, farm animals, and dogs! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Whiskey is housebroken, but isn’t crate-trained. He will urinate in the house when he is alone in the house for an extended period of time, because he becomes anxious. He will also become destructive towards dog beds and couch cushions, but only when he is bored. He doesn’t do this if he has a lot of toys to play with. The owner is surrendering him because they are unable to provide the attention and exercise that he needs. If you think you can provide a great home for Whiskey, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Whiskey. Owner’s Contact Information: Faith at fmwestlund@gmail.com

Story
Meet Rico, he is 8 years old and 40 lbs. (he can lose some weight)… His owner has cancer and can longer care for him so he is looking for a new place to love him through the next chapter of his life.  Rico is a handsome Aussie/Terrier mix of sorts! If he was a food order he would be ordered as one medium floof nugget, with a side of smiles- tail waggin sized, with all the dippin sauces of happiness. This guy has grins that just won‘t quit, loves him some car rides, enjoys being bribed with treats for tricks, isn’t much of a kisser, and relishes all the attention he deserves to receive. Rico is easy to love, gets along great with dogs and and kids. He walks good on leash and is housebroken and crate trained. He is a true gentleman and is ready for that special person(s) to give him his well-deserved furever home. He is waiting to meet you! Neutered, heartworm tested, recent dental, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for adoption!  He is hit and miss with cats so a calm cat that does not do much he would have less of an issue with.  An active cat that will hiss and get in his business is not a match.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $100 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.November 5, 2025, 6:43 pm

Story
Fostered in Sioux City.   Name- my foster Mom is calling me Lucy and I seem to like it! Age- 3ish Breed- mini Aussie What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? A breeding facility Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? I love all the people I've met so far! My foster mom is my fave so far. Are you good with kids? Not kids tested yet, but I would probably overwhelm a little one. Bigger would be better. What age ranges? 10+ Are you good with other dogs? I have a much older foster sister, so she doesn't want to play with me. I think I'd love another dog to match my energy! Are you good with cats? I bark at the cat, but we haven't met face to face yet. Are you housebroken? Working hard on it! I'm smart so it shouldn't take long What is your current potty routine? Lots of potty breaks when FM is home. I haven't had any accidents in my kennel. Do you like car rides? I did fine in the car, but she wouldn't let me sit on her lap, what's that all about? Do you like walks? When it warms up a little we will see. I think as long as my person is with me I'll be happy! I have a lot of energy to burn off, so I bet I will love them! How are you on a leash? I did fine getting to and from the car! Do you like toys? What's that? Lol just pet me already! What is your favorite toy? Do you know any commands/tricks? I sit on command and am learning not to jump How are your house manners? I get so excited with people I jump on them, we are working on it! Describe your personality- I am super sweet and affectionate and will be your shadow if you'll have me! ♥️ I'm either going 90 mph or dozing on the couch. Describe your perfect home- I LOVE attention from people, so the more to give me pets, the better!

Story
Name: Miss Norma Jeannie (spayed female) Age: 1-2 years old Breed: Mini Australian Shepard What was your life like before NDCB/where did you come from: I came from a home with 40 other dogs in kennels. Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? My foster mom. Are you good with kids? I keep my distance with the 16 and 14 year old in the home, I am still a nervous girl. Are you good with other dogs? Yes, I have come to love my foster sisters. Jewel is an Australian Shepard (7) and Betty a mixed breed (2). We have a really rambunctious time together. Are you good with cats? Yes, I have been around 5 cats and they don’t interest me very much. Do I like car rides? I have been enjoying traveling with my foster mom to and from her office. I love looking out the windows on the way and sleeping on the way home. Do you like walks? We have gone on short walks as I am still a little nervous being followed. How are you on a leash? I am really trying my hardest to adjust to the leash. I love to chew on it and do an occasional acrobatic stunt when it’s on me. With time and patience I will enjoy it! Do you like toys? Yes I love my chew toys and love watching my foster sisters retrieve their ball. I would like to add that to my list of hobbies soon! Do you know any commands/tricks? I’m still pretty shy working on my commands. How are your house manners? I still will pace back and forth when at my home. It will improve soon. My foster mom didn’t like me crying at night so she lets me sleep in her bed, I do very well all night. I need a back yard that is fenced in so I can feel the freedom off the leash. I need lots of love and a patient human to show me truly how to be a dog.

Story
Fostered in council bluffs/omaha area but will be at the event Sunday. Name- Bob Age- 11 months Breed- Mini Aussie What was your life like before NDCB/Where did you come from? A breeding facility Who is your main caretaker/favorite person now? My foster mommy but my foster dad is pretty cool too! Are you good with kids? My foster parents don’t have any kids at home. What age ranges? Not sure but I hope to meet some kids soon. Are you good with other dogs? I love other dogs - I currently live with 8 other pups at my foster parents house! Are you good with cats? Cats sound cool but I currently don’t know any. But I previously lived with barn cats! Are you housebroken? Working on it but I don’t mind wearing a belly band when I’m roaming the house. I secretly think lifting my leg to potty in the house is fun but my foster parents disagree. What is your current potty routine? I stay in a nice wire crate while my FPs are at work. I’ve never had an accident in my kennel and I love going outside with my fellow pups. Do you like car rides? I wasn’t a fan of the car ride to the vets office, I threw up and peed myself, so needless to say I need a little more practice on them. Do you like walks? It’s kinda cold out for walks but I don’t mind the leash. How are you on a leash? A good boy but I occasionally like to wrap the leash around my foster mom’s legs. Do you like toys? Not yet but one day I will! What is your favorite toy? None yet but I have access to lots of bones and stuffies. Do you know any commands/tricks? I know what “outside” means. My FPs are trying to teach me new tricks but I’m easily distracted. I like treats though. How are your house manners? I stay off the furniture even though my FPs try to get me on the couch! I sleep in my crate and don’t make a peep all night. Describe your personality- I love playing with my fur friends inside and outside. I’m a good boy who loves people after I get to know them. I also give kisses. Describe your perfect home- a home with other dogs is my ideal home. Oh and a loving parent or two!
