Story
Meet Rocky, a laid-back, big-hearted guy who`s looking for the perfect companion. Rocky thrives in a calm, quiet home, ideally with an individual or couple who can offer him the peace he craves. While he`s tolerant of kids, he prefers to snuggle only with his bonded person. True to his cattle dog nature, Rocky is protective of his territory and takes his time warming up to newcomers. But with a few tasty treats, he’s quick to make new friends! Out in public, like at Lowes or the park, he’s friendly and allows people to pet him. He’s an easy-going guy who enjoys nice walks or short hikes and does well on a leash. However, he’s not a fan of other dogs and would prefer to be the only pup in the home. Rocky is food-driven, so with patience and training, he can overcome his dog-on-dog challenges.Rocky is fully house-trained, and he’ll always let you know when it`s time to go potty. He can be left home alone for long periods and is perfectly well-behaved—no chewing, no accidents. He’s also pretty good at following basic commands: sit, down, stay, and come. He doesn’t jump up on guests or try to dash out the door when it opens. While he can tolerate cats, small animals like squirrels aren’t his thing, and he won’t chase them. He enjoys playing tug-of-war and carrying around his stuffies (though he doesn’t chew them up!). Rocky also loves to bury bones and toys that he’s particularly fond of.He has a sensitivity to certain ingredients like corn, wheat, and soy, so he requires allergy-friendly food. He’s also afraid of thunderstorms, so a little extra care during storms will go a long way.Though Rocky hasn’t been crate trained, he seems to like the idea of having his own space. With his thick fur, he does require regular brushing, but professional grooming isn’t necessary. He`s not a fan of water or swimming, but he doesn’t bark excessively—just enough to alert when something’s up.If you’re ready for a loyal companion who thrives on a peaceful, loving environment, Rocky could be your guy!

Story
Meet Seven.Yes, that Seven. The internet can argue about 6 / 7 all it wants — he’s very confidently Seven. Seven came to Perfectly Imperfect Pups with vision and hearing challenges, but if you watched him for five minutes, you might question that diagnosis entirely. The vet suspects he doesn’t see much, yet he navigates our house with ease, rarely bumps into anything, and handles stairs like a pro. His hearing is selective rather than absent — he may not catch every everyday sound, but certain noises get an immediate, clear response. What stands out most is not what Seven can’t do, but how much he can do. He’s incredibly smart. Curious. An enthusiastic explorer who loves being outside and discovering the world. He’s doing very well with potty training and we’re actively working on crate training, where he’s already showing great progress. He sleeps comfortably in a crate and settles in nicely. Seven is also everything you want in a puppy. Sweet. Cuddly. Affectionate. He adores other dogs and plays beautifully with them. He bonds quickly and deeply with his people. If you didn’t know he had vision and hearing challenges, you likely wouldn’t notice at all. Seven is going to make an exceptional family member for someone who’s ready to love a dog who may do things a little differently — and wonderfully so. Perfectly Imperfect, just as he’s meant to be. pipsrescue.org/adopt ##2640231##

Story
Dougie (Doug Dog) is an active 6 year old Australian Shepherd mix who is always up for an outdoor adventure or a good snuggle session. He enjoys long sniffaris, playtime in the yard, and curling up on the couch after a full day. Dougie gets along well with other dogs and naturally looks out for his family, offering both companionship and protection. He loves being where his people are. Cooking dinner? He will lay in the kitchen near you. Working from home? He will be at your feet. When he isn’t with you, he will make sure your yard is free of squirrels. Dougie would make a good partner for someone who loves to run, hike, or has a backyard for him to explore. Dougie’s dream family lets him snuggle on the couch and in bed, but he would settle for being in the room with you.

Story
(10/04/2024) Chesney is a young, energetic dog with a heart full of enthusiasm and a love for the great outdoors. He's incredibly athletic and thrives on playing fetch and chasing after balls — he's always ready for his next adventure! Chesney is super friendly, eager to please his people, and loves being part of the action. He's food-motivated and responds well to praise, making training a fun and rewarding experience. While he's crate trained, Chesney isn't a big fan of the crate and is working on his leash manners — with a little continued practice, he's sure to become even more confident on walks. Chesney would flourish in a home with a young, active family, especially one where someone works from home or can provide daycare to keep him happily busy. Due to his playful exuberance, older kids are recommended to ensure everyone has a great time together. Chesney has "passed" his cat test and would be ok joining a family with kitties in their home. If you're looking for a lively, affectionate companion who will keep you on your toes and bring endless joy to your home, Chesney might just be your perfect match! As part of Chesney’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Chesney, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2392608##

Story
(DOB 10/04/2024) Chaz is the ultimate bundle of energy and happiness! This friendly, athletic boy is always ready for action and loves to keep busy. His favorite pastime? Pushing his big ball around the yard and playing fetch; he's a true sports star in the making! Super smart and eager to learn, Chaz would thrive in an active home where he can go for daily walks or run free in a spacious, fenced yard. Confident and engaging, Chaz gets along best with a submissive playmate or as the only dog, and he’s crate trained and house trained with a steady routine. He’s still working on his leash skills but is eager to improve! While he’s great with older kids who can match his energetic nature, no cats for this lively guy. He has a beautiful coat that is silky soft. His golden brown, light eyes just glow in the sun. He is a handsome boy that will definitely get some attention when he is out and about. If you’re looking for a joyful, energetic companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your days with fun, Chaz is ready to be your new best friend! As part of Chaz’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
