Story
(10/04/2024) Chesney is a young, energetic dog with a heart full of enthusiasm and a love for the great outdoors. He's incredibly athletic and thrives on playing fetch and chasing after balls — he's always ready for his next adventure! Chesney is super friendly, eager to please his people, and loves being part of the action. He's food-motivated and responds well to praise, making training a fun and rewarding experience. While he's crate trained, Chesney isn't a big fan of the crate and is working on his leash manners — with a little continued practice, he's sure to become even more confident on walks. Chesney would flourish in a home with a young, active family, especially one where someone works from home or can provide daycare to keep him happily busy. Due to his playful exuberance, older kids are recommended to ensure everyone has a great time together. Chesney has "passed" his cat test and would be ok joining a family with kitties in their home. If you're looking for a lively, affectionate companion who will keep you on your toes and bring endless joy to your home, Chesney might just be your perfect match! As part of Chesney’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Chesney, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2392608##

Story
(DOB 10/04/2024) Chaz is the ultimate bundle of energy and happiness! This friendly, athletic boy is always ready for action and loves to keep busy. His favorite pastime? Pushing his big ball around the yard and playing fetch; he's a true sports star in the making! Super smart and eager to learn, Chaz would thrive in an active home where he can go for daily walks or run free in a spacious, fenced yard. Confident and engaging, Chaz gets along best with a submissive playmate or as the only dog, and he’s crate trained and house trained with a steady routine. He’s still working on his leash skills but is eager to improve! While he’s great with older kids who can match his energetic nature, no cats for this lively guy. He has a beautiful coat that is silky soft. His golden brown, light eyes just glow in the sun. He is a handsome boy that will definitely get some attention when he is out and about. If you’re looking for a joyful, energetic companion who will keep you on your toes and fill your days with fun, Chaz is ready to be your new best friend! As part of Chaz’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
Merle is a fun, smart almost 1 year-old pup who’s always ready for his next big adventure. With a mix of Aussie, Collie, Am Staff, and Beagle, he’s got the brains and the energy to match. He loves being outside and would be a great partner for someone who enjoys hiking, running, or exploring new places. Personality & Training: Merle learns fast and already knows his basic manners. He’s currently in a training program, and his adoption even comes with free sessions with his trainer plus 30 days of online support. He’s happiest when he gets both mental and physical exercise, so a family who can keep him active and stick to a routine would be perfect for him. Home Needs: Merle is being fostered on a farm where he’s around dogs, kids, and farm animals every day, and he handles everything with curiosity and confidence. Because he has herding instincts, he’ll do best in a home with older teens instead of young kids. He’d love an active family who’s ready for a fun, outdoorsy buddy. Health & Adoption Info: Merle is neutered, healthy, and up to date on all his vaccines. He’s located near Raleigh, NC, and we’d like to keep him close so he can continue working with his trainer. If you want a loyal, adventurous, and super smart dog who’s always excited to explore the world with you, Merle might be the perfect match.

Story
Meet Carmy! 🐻
Yes, that Carmy — named after Carmen from the TV series The Bear, because as you can see, he’s basically a tiny teddy bear in puppy form. Carmy is a playful and friendly yet independent little guy! He loves playtime — especially tug of war, romping around outside, and wrestling with his foster siblings. He also enjoys cozy naps (though usually on the floor or dog bed as he’s not a big cuddler), a good chew, and playing with toys of all kinds. He is happy to entertain himself with toys but loves to be near his humans! He’s working on potty training, and is doing well with crate training and settling when left alone. Like most puppies his age, Carmy is very much in the teething phase and is learning appropriate mouth manners with people and other dogs. He can be very nippy as he explores the world with his mouth, which may be part of his breed instinct and can be normal for a 10-week-old pup but may make a home with small children a little tricky right now as he learns and grows. Now for the question everyone wants to know: what breed is he?
Your guess is as good as ours! Based on looks (and his equally adorable siblings), his fosters personal guess for Carmy is a Shepnees (Australian Shepherd x Great Pyrenees). Though he could be a mix with Australian Shepherd, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundland, Collie, or something else entirely! Aka he is a dog with a whole lot of fluff, loyalty, brains, and potential size packed into one cute pup. What that could mean for his future family:
• He will likely grow into a medium to large dog
• He’ll need daily outdoor time and room to explore
• Smart, working or herding-type breeds thrive with training, structure, and mental enrichment
• He may enjoy having a “job” — hikes, exploring, learning new skills
• Early and continued socialization and training will be important as he grows • Fluffy coat = regular brushing recommended (worth it, we promise)
Carmy would do best with active adopter(s) ready to invest in puppy training, enrichment, and adventures. In return, you’ll get a loyal, affectionate companion who wants to be involved in your life and grow alongside you. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, and adorable floof who will thrive with guidance and love — Carmy might be your guy 🐾

Story
Zeus is a very sweet, affectionate dog who loves to cuddle and be close to his people. He knows basic commands and is very food motivated. He is a high-energy herding breed with a strong instinct to herd, and we are working on training. For everyone’s safety and success, he would do best in a home with no cats and no young children, or with an experienced owner who understands herding breeds and is committed to continued training and enrichment. He is not aggressive, however any small animals or children overstimulate him to the extreme. This decision is being made carefully and in his best interest as well as my cats. Please message if you think you may be a good fit and want more information.
