Story
Simone is a beautiful 3-year old female (possible) Australian Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 26, 2024 by a compassionate individual who found her on State Route 676 in the Churchtown area near Marietta Ohio. Simone was dragging an attached leash and, though she was obviously a very scared/frightened girl, she seemed to sense that this Good Samaritan was her guardian angel/savior .. And Simone jumped into her car and was driven to the safety of our shelter. Thanks also to the Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who met them at HSOV and took Simone into the Receiving area of our shelter and made sure she was safe for the night. Simone has a lovely chocolate brown coat with blonde shading, a long tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, blonde eyebrows, a liver-colored nose, and a long chubby muzzle. Simone has teeny tiny 'folded over' ears which suggest that she might have some Shar-Pei ancestors in her family background. Simone was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians on August 28th because she had painful burns/peeling on the pads of her paws when she entered our shelter. Simone is temporary listed as a "Special Needs Dogs" since she is currently on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory/nerve pain medications. Our HSOV staff/kennel techs are soaking her sore feet in an Epsom salts solution each day, and Simone will return to the veterinarian's clinic for a follow-up appointment in a week or so. These photos of Simone were taken on August 30th in the shelter bathroom where she is currently being housed. Simone has a rather demure disposition but loves soft/soothing conversations, gentle petting, and attention. She is enjoying a quiet blanket-filled room of her own while she recuperates from her paw injuries. Simone weighs 40.2 lbs and isn't a very large girl when you see her in person. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Simone was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership .. But nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl. Update: Simone's paws have healed up nicely, and she is no longer listed as being 'Temporarily Special Needs'. She loves taking walks these days and looks forward to being walked by our staff and volunteers. We've learned that Simone is not good with cats. Simone was spayed on October 1, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. Update: Simone went home with a foster family on December 28, 2025 so that she could enjoy a real home environment instead of a shelter kennel and will be with her temporary family 24/7 for companionship. Simone is still available for adoption. If you would like to give this beautiful girl a forever home, please complete/submit an HSOV foster/adoption application for approval so that we may arranged a meet-and-greet with her foster family.

Simone appeared to be housebroken when she was outdoors and quickly 'took care of business' the moment her paws were in the grass. Simone has a rather demure disposition but loves gentle petting and attention. Story
Oreo was adopted from us a few years ago but was sadly returned today 3/16/2024. She is a beautiful Pit/ Aussie mix that is now 3 years old. She is spayed, up to date and house trained. Oreo was returned because she started showing too much interest in the house cat and tried attacking it. She is also not good around small dogs. She lived with another bigger dog and did great. She is very sad and nervous being back in the shelter. We would love to find her a home with no little animals and possibly one other large doggy friend (meet and greet would be required). She absolutely adores her humans and younger children. She would follow them anywhere and listens very well. She loves to go play outdoors and go for walks. Would do best in an active home. Adoption fee is $100.00

These pups are in Marietta, Ohio too!

Story
Bandit is an adorable 4-year old male Border Collie/Spaniel mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 4, 2025 with several of his housemates (including Brutus, Molly, and Spot) for a heartbreaking reason. Their mistress had passed away recently, and there was suddenly they became homeless since there was nobody left to take care of them. This awesome boy has a white coat with black spotting, a long tail, and a beautiful black face with dark brown eyes, a white muzzle with black freckles, and large floppy ears which are fringed in wavy curls. Bandit has a happy, outgoing personality and wiggles his cute derriere the moment you make eye contact with him. Bandit weighs 44 lbs. Bandit will surely steal your heart when you meet him in person (smile). Bandit will be neutered before being officially adopted by his new family. He could be fostered-to-adopt while he is awaiting his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Bandit would love to be back in a loving home instead of a floor crate.

Molly is a beautiful 5-year old female Border Collie mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 4, 2025 with several of her housemates (including Bandit, Brutus, and Spot) for a heartbreaking reason. Their mistress had passed away recently, and they suddenly became homeless since there was nobody left to take care of them. This little sweetheart has a black medium-haired coat with a curly/wavy texture, a long tail, and an adorable face with hopeful trusting eyes, a black button nose, silver/frosty shading on her muzzle, and long floppy ears. Molly has a 'Type A' outgoing personality and literally begs for attention. These updated pictures were taken on December 12th 2025. Molly posed beautifully for several glamour photos in her floor crate, and she later enjoyed some one-on-one time with HSOV Kennel Tech Cheyenne Laskowski in the lobby of our shelter. All of the HSOV dogs love Cheyenne, so naturally Molly was over-the-moon happy soaking up loving attention from Cheyenne. Molly weighs 41.6 lbs. She walks fairly well on a leash. Since Molly has already been spayed, she could leave our shelter rather quickly with her new family. Please complete an HSOV adoption application for approval if you would like to foster (or adopt) Molly in time for the Christmas holiday. Molly would be ever so thankful to be back in a loving home.
