Story
Kota is a magnificent 2-1/2 year old male Australian Shepherd mix who was surrendered by his owner on July 13, 2023. Kota has a stunning red/mahogany-and-white long smooth coat, a long fluffy tail, and a beautiful face with pale blue eyes, a white slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. These photos of Kota were taken on July 14th when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Kota for outdoor photos late in the afternoon. Kota was a bit nervous being in an unfamiliar place when he'd been accustomed to being in his own home, but he did amazingly well with Jared since he quickly gained Kota's trust. Kota weighs 79 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash for Jared. Kota has already been neutered. Kota is NOT good with children and is looking for a home where he would not have contact youngsters. Kota also has sensitivity issues about being touched on his head, ears, and feet.

Kota has a stunning red/mahogany-and-white long smooth coat, a long fluffy tail, and a beautiful face with pale blue eyes, a white slender muzzle, and short floppy ears. These photos of Kota were taken in late March 2024 when Kota was enjoying a relaxing siesta on his blanket-covered Kuranda bed on a rainy afternoon. Kota didn't want to get his long hair soaked and 'frizzled' in the rain, so he decided to take a 'rain check' (pun intended) and wait for an outdoor photo when the sun makes an appearance in the mid-Ohio Valley. Kota weighs approximately 55 lbs and walks well on leash. Kota is NOT good with children and is looking for a home where he would not have contact with youngsters. Groomers have learned that Kota also has sensitivity issues about being touched on his head, ears, and feet. Since Kota has already been neutered, he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application .. And he is also available for fostering with an approved adoption/foster application.

Story
Ford is a handsome 1-1/2 year old male Australian Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on April 13, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on State Route 339 in the Waterford Ohio area. Ford was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This good-looking Aussie boy has a black medium-haired coat with blue- and red-ticking on his chest/legs, a naturally docked tail, and a beautiful face with a narrow white stripe on his nose/forehead, dark brown eyes, tan eyebrows/muzzle, and short floppy ears. Ford has a happy, outgoing personality. He was quite smitten with HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee who spent time with outdoors on a bright sunny afternoon on April 14th. (And Ford .. We all love Madison too) Ford is a medium-sized boy who weighs approximately 50 lbs, and he walks fairly well on a leash. . In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Ford will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for this awesome dog.

Story
Callie (fka ASF Campbell) is looking for a new family. On her home ground, Callie warms to strangers quickly and will ask for affection. She is more shy around tall men, but if they come down to her level then she is all kisses. Inside, she doesn't want strange dogs too close at first, but warms up with a little time and will snuggle with them. When off leash outside, she ignores strange dogs but loves to chase and play bitey face with known dogs. She has worked hard on her leash manners. She used to bark and lunge at other dogs while leashed. Now her attention can be held when there's a treat to be had. She pulls on her leash when really excited, then calms down and is easy to walk. Her recall is 75-80%. She does not guard her food or toys. She will do 'sit', 'wait', and 'touch'. Inside she has torn up a few pieces of paper and some dog toys (and has been known to 'steal' an empty dog food bag). She can roam the whole house day and night. She doesn't take food from a kitchen counter but will eat anything on the floor or low surfaces like a coffee table. She is gentle when fed treats. She's not a fan of being brushed but will tolerate Furminator on her for 3-5 minutes at a time. She lets people wash and dry her feet. She has her claws trimmed by a vet after getting a few treats. Callie's past has had a direct impact on her reason for being returned. Callie was originally found in a field where she had dug a den and was raising her 9 puppies. Her pups were about 5 weeks old when they were all captured and brought into rescue. Callie had to do what she had to do in order to survive and keep her puppies alive. She developed a high prey drive that still persists. She will catch and eat birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc. She is absolutely NOT suitable for a home with cats or other small pets. Callie is approximately 3yo and weighs about 60#. She is on Proin for incontinence. (This can be purchased online or through a vet with a prescription.) Based on a few DNA tests done on her puppies, Callie has a lot of GSD and husky in her. She is spayed and UTD on all of her vaccines. She is on HW and flea prevention. The way to Callie's heart is through her stomach. She loves to eat, and loves treats. And she LOVES water, splashing in it, lying down in it, just being in it. Callie would love another confident, sweet and playful dog to play and run with. Although she hasn't been exposed to children, because of her sweet, loving, and playful personality, it's believed she would be wonderful with older children. She would love an active family to take her on hikes and adventures; this is her happy place. She loves car rides and rides wonderfully on short and extended trips. A fenced in yard would be ideal for her, to allow her to carry out her full speed zoomies several times a day when she can't go on hikes. Callie is being fostered in Jackson, OH. To fill out an application, please go to australianshpeherdsfurever.org/adoption-application. There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
