Adoption Fee: $150.00Weight: 61lbsArrival Date: 12/7/24Microchip #: 977200010650922Meet Millie – an incredibly smart and sometimes too clever dog looking for her forever home! This beautiful girl came to us with her litter of puppies, all named after characters from Wicked. Now, with all her puppies finding their forever homes, Millie is eagerly waiting for hers!Millie is a sweet and affectionate dog, but she’s also full of energy and needs a job to keep her mind and body busy. While we make sure she gets out to Play Group every day, her energy often builds up. When she’s done playing, she’s so clever that she uses the chain-link fence like a ladder to let herself out! Unfortunately, because of this, we can’t leave her unattended in a yard, so she isn’t able to burn off as much energy as she needs. She does great with other dogs in Play Group, but when walking past other dogs behind fences, she can get frustrated due to the lack of space to exercise. This frustration has led to some barrier reactivity, but she’s calm and happy once she’s in the yard playing freely.Millie is an incredibly sweet girl who would thrive in a home that can provide her with plenty of exercise, stimulation, and mental challenges. We have also been working with Millie on walking on long lines, keeping her attention on her handler, and using food puzzles to keep her mind working. If you’re looking for a bright and energetic companion, she might just be the perfect fit! While Millie continues her search for her forever home, we would love to place her in a foster home where she can receive the positive reinforcement training she needs. If you’re interested in fostering, please reach out to us at fostercare@safehavenhumane.com.Note: We recommend that potential fosters or adopters have experience with Malinois or similar breeds, as Millie’s intelligence and energy are traits typical of this breed.

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Milo – The Marathon Crasher Turned Cuddle Champion! Milo didn’t exactly sign up for a 5K, but that didn’t stop him from joining one! This adventurous pup trotted right into a local marathon and straight into the hearts of his future foster family—how’s that for making an entrance? Since trading in finish lines for fluffy beds, Milo has discovered the magic of toys (they’re amazing!) and developed a special bond with his favorite big teddy bear. He’ll wrestle with any toy, but that bear? Pure love. When playtime’s over, Milo’s favorite way to wind down is being cradled like a baby—belly up, paws in the air, snoring softly. Total goofball vibes. He’s fantastic with other dogs, crate trained, and working on perfecting his leash and potty manners. Smart, sweet, and full of personality, Milo is now looking for his forever home—a place with plenty of cuddles, toys, and maybe a finish line or two to cross with his new family. Ready to fall head over heels for this lovable lug? Milo’s waiting! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Lilo Layla may be a complex name for a simply happy puppy but it helps describe who I am :) i AM a happy/hoppy puppy, my foster mom says i have very high energy- which interprets as..... I need kids and other dogs to wear me out :) See?? Not so hard to interpret!! I am also called: sweet, stubborn, and finally ALL PUPPY!!! That likely doesn't need an explanation :D We believe I am part Heeler and Border Collie. I have serious puppy teeth so older kids better for my puppy teeth :) I am afraid of Cats, even though I want to chase other small animals, I got RESPECT for the kitties! I am crate trained, learning to walk on a harness and leash. She goes from 0 to 100- ALL PUPPY!!! So there you have it! I am the total package! 1) PUPPY, 2) very CUTE, 3) SMART, 4) GOOD WITH EVERYONE (except squirrrels, lol) and AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Rocco, 1 year old (DOB Feb 2024) male Border Collie💙 needs an active home or a working farm to help do chores. He would be a good herding dog, but would need some training. He is used to chickens that he herds. He is very lovable and loves to be petted, and he loves kids. He's housebroken and does not chew anything up as long as he has his chewing toys. He sleeps inside sometimes and sleeps all night. No cat history. He is a very busy dog and needs someone that knows the breed and wants a loyal buddy! Please apply at www.hopeshavenfriends.org

Story
BEAR~ needs to be in another home ~ Hi my name is Bear! I am a Border Collie mix. I was born on October 31, 2021 so I'm 3 years old. He is neutered and up to date on my shots, had a dental last February and am totally healthy. I love hikes and walks a lot, especially to go slow and sniff everything I can. I wear a gentle lead for my walks and I do great! I love to be right by my humans all the time but I can be left alone at home as well with no problems. I don't mind going outside but I don't hangout there too long unless I have some company. I love car rides and I am quiet and relaxed the whole time. I love dog parks but when there's a ton of dogs I get a little overwhelmed. I do like to chase kitties so it might be best for me to not have any kitty friends at my new home. I love kids and any strangers I meet 🥰 I'm pretty much perfect! Currently I'm in a tough situation because my older doggy brother has some bad health issues now and he attacks me every time he sees me 🥺 so we have to be separated all the time and it's been really hard. Even with different medications and training that my family has tried he still hasn't gotten any better. I would love to find an active family that would love a wonderful family dog 🥰 Apply at www.hopeshavenfriends.org

Story
Hi, I’m BJ! I'm 12-years-old with a cute face and big ears that turn heads everywhere I go. I know basic commands like sit, lie down, shake, and I (almost always) come when called. I do bark, but only when there’s something worth noting! Thanks to a Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant from Petfinder, my adoption fee is waived, and funds are also provided to reimburse limited post-adoption expenses to help me settle in. WOW! We learned from the vet that I am Lyme-positive.  He gave me two injections and that straightened me out for the foreseeable future. The good news is that I have the chronic type rather than the active type and I am healthy and symptom-free. I love toys and playing ball. And guess what? I hardly shed at all! People are always surprised by my youthful energy. I’m very popular at the dog park; I’m cordial with both the dogs and their parents and run to greet all the new entrants. Outside the park, though, I can be leash reactive because I take my job of guarding my person very seriously. Speaking of my person…I think all people belong to me! That’s where I run into trouble in a home with another dog—I get jealous. And don’t even get me started on cats—they really get me revved up! Because of this, my SDRO friends think I’d do best as the only pet. I’m a happy, curious guy who loves being by your side—so watch your step, I’m always nearby! I have some herding dog traits, so staying active keeps me at my best. When you leave, I might bark and whine, but I always settle down. At night, I sleep great—especially if I get to snuggle up with you. I am excitable in the car, but we're working on it. My dream house has a big backyard with lots of room to run. If you are looking for a loving, fun, and devoted best friend, I might be the one for you.
