Story
Lucy is a sweet, calm girl who loves people. She prefers to spend her days sleeping and being near her owners over playing or walking. She will walk very short distances but otherwise prefers to be in her stroller or on the couch. Despite being in a loving home for the past few years, Lucy was used for breeding in a past life and prefers spending her time now relaxing and receiving love and pets. Lucy requires an experienced bulldog owner. She has a history of chronic UTIs, so the perfect owner for her is home most of the day and has easy access to a backyard where she can go outside as needed. She has been pad trained and will use those when she cannot get access to outside. She has had a lot of veterinary care for her UTIs and has been well cared for but requires patience with her frequent UTIs. Her bloodwork and ultrasounds always turn out great so she appears to be healthy otherwise. When applying, please list your experience with bulldogs and urinary issues.

Story
Nike is a 50-pound, seven-month-old, happy, fun, snuggly and playful male Bulldog/Terrier-mix puppy looking for a loving guardian. Nike is such a good-natured dog and has no idea that he’s differently-abled. His legs are extremely bowed with a front limb deformity. That doesn’t stop him from chasing balls and rough-housing with dog friends. Because he can injure himself on concrete, he is best playing in a soft grassy yard. His walks on sidewalks have so far been limited. This guy is as sweet as they come. He just loves people of all ages, and other dogs. We think he’ll be about 60 pounds full-grown. He is looking for a very special family who will take him into their heart and home. He is smart, loving and very eager to please. He might enjoy cats, more than they enjoy him. Nike is housebroken when taken out regularly, crate-trained, and learning his commands. He is very food focused and just loves belly rubs. He’s currently doing physical therapy and massage in Chicago. He is not a candidate for surgery. But, he may at times wear booties and braces to protect and guide his legs into the right position. Nike is otherwise very healthy, vaccinated for rabies, distemper and bordetella, microchipped, fecal-tested and de-wormed. He will be neutered in the near future. His adoption fee of $500 benefits K9EI RESCUE. To meet and possibly adopt Nike, please fill out an adoption application at https://k9ei.dog/foster-adopt/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing info@k9ei.dog Nike is being fostered in Chicago, and must be adopted within 60 miles of Plainfield, Illinois. Currently, his therapy & orthopedic caregivers are located in Chicago.

Story
Hi! My name is Chelsea Dagger (yes, Blackhawk fans, THAT Chelsea Dagger!). Chicago Animal Control found me on the streets and when they found me, I was super thin (under 45lbs), limping, and in all-around pretty rough shape. I had obviously been bred before being abandoned. I now look healthy! My limp is gone, and I love to walk, jump and play. I even do stairs well. You would never know I have arthritis if it weren't for my daily doggie ibuprofen! The vet says I’m about 4 years old, and I am doing really well! I must have received some training along the way, because I haven’t had any accidents in the house. I am doing great with sitting, learning to stay when doors are open, and my leash walking has improved. In short, I will do just about anything for a treat. I still need to work a bit on jumping up, but I get so excited when I see my foster mom and dad that sometimes I forget. Oh, and I’m quite the wiggle-butt! Although my tail is short and stumpy it is almost always wagging. I don’t mind going in my crate to bed every night, or when my foster parents are away. Otherwise, I like to be out where I can explore and be close to whoever is in the room. I love being near my foster parents and I’m very inquisitive and affectionate. I’m learning all the different sounds of my foster house and my neighborhood. Some of them make me nervous, and sometimes I bark at night – but usually settle down pretty quickly. My foster parents tease me that I really want to be a lap dog. I’m only 50 pounds (soon to be more like 70!), so I don’t understand what the big deal is. Oh, and when my foster mom and dad are in Zoom meetings, they keep me busy with bones and licking mats – so I like it when they have meetings. I also like joining their meetings on occasion and am always the star of the show. People love my little snaggle tooth that pops out when I smile. My foster family has another female dog, and I’m not too sure about her yet. Every time I go outside, I look around to see if she is there, and wag my tail a lot when we walk together. I think I want to be friends, but I don’t know how. Maybe it is the time I spent on the street and the way I was treated by other dogs, but I always feel like I need to defend myself. I’m still working on it. I haven’t been around any children – so I’m not sure how I feel about them. I’m also not sure what cats are, or how I would feel about them. I am really smart and would love a family who would play with me, give me fun puzzles and activities to do, and most of all Cuddle! I am a full body hugger and snuggle bug. My foster parents seem to think that I would be best in a home without any other dogs so I can give all the loves and get all the loves. They tell me I am very sweet, and they think I would make a fantastic only dog. Story
Hi! My name is Murphy and I’m 7 years old, but my foster family calls me Big Murph, Big Moose and Big Mooseman Murph! I noticed they say “big” a lot, and apparently, I am. When I was surrendered by my last home, due to a work conflict, and I weighed in at 98lbs then, but I’m already down 3lbs and looking buff! The nice people at the Dupage Animal Services knew that calling CEBR would be a great choice because they know bulldogs best! I’ve been hanging out in my very own “apartment”, it’s pretty cozy down here. Sometimes I get a little sad when my foster family isn’t down here giving me all their attention but that’s because I’m worried they’ll leave me behind. It gets kind of hard when you’re not sure of your place being that this is my 3rd home. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. My foster family tells me I’m such a good boy and I think so myself! I’m really good at sitting for my eye and ear medicine and getting my wrinkles all wiped out. I just had an eye surgery, I swear I’m not vain! My super thick eyelashes were turned in so they were scratching my eyes, OUCH! I can see much better now and that is exciting! Speaking of exciting, guess what makes my tail spin like a tornado? Soccer balls, basketballs, tennis balls, kong balls, you name a ball and I love it already! I also have 2 foster sisters and I know I my strength so I’m a little more gentle when I play with them. I'm good with female dogs, but no male dogs for my please. There’s also a really howly guy, seriously he’s always howling, but also waiting on meeting him. I do get a super wiggly tail when we all talk to each other and I’m learning to sit when I see them past the gates. I’m hoping to be friends with them too! I’m totally potty trained, I like calming music on when I’m by myself, gentle for a big guy but mostly I just want to be loved and not move again! Story
Hello, I would like to introduce myself to you. I am Maddie, a 5-year young English bulldog gal with tons of energy and love to give. I came to CEBR because my owners wanted to make sure I could continue to get the good life that I deserve. When I came to my foster family, I had no clue what a crate was, but I am ok with it now. I think I would rather sleep in bed with you or on the couch at night but enjoy my comfy crate to sleep. Although I'm excited to get out of the crate between 6:00-6:30 am, I am still half asleep. I'm not a morning dog. I love a long full body massage in the morning and will happily give you my arm for scratches and lay on my side for a chest rub! I am slow moving in the morning, so I need someone with patience and time. I sometimes stop halfway down the stairs in the morning to sit and close my eyes—it's rough being up this early! I am fully house trained, and I’m smart! I can lay down, sit, and shake on command. Isn’t that cool? During the day when my foster family is gone, I can stay out of the kennel. I am a good girl. I don’t chew on things that are not mine. I mostly sleep on the couch all day but have been found in my kennel when they get home sometimes. As the day goes on, my energy kicks in full blast—especially in the evening. I love to play all the time!!! My favorite activity is tug of war. I am awesome at it. I love to be chased in the house and will dazzle you with my moves! I can run as fast backwards as forwards and will hop to keep my toy away from you! I'll keep you smiling and laughing—I bring a lot of fun!! Sometimes I just don't want to stop playing, like when my foster parents are eating supper or when I'm hot. We are working on playing independently during those times or relaxing with some cuddles. I'm slowly getting it, but you can't blame me for trying to play some more---it's just so fun!! I am a healthy girl, but my eye lashes are rubbing against my eyes, so CEBR is working to get that fixed for me. I do well getting my eye drops twice a day. For the first few weeks in my foster home, I barked into their dark kitchen in the evening. Now that they leave the light on, this behavior has almost stopped. I have a little anxiety, so I am taking a pet relaxant to help. I don't like thunderstorms, loud noises or some animals on TV, and hate the vacuum cleaner (even when it's not running). The perfect family is one that can spend a lot of time with me. I need to be the center of everything. I prefer to be the only dog and no little kids. I can’t wait to meet my forever family. That is all for now. I need to go play, so I hope to hear from you soon! Story
Hi everyone – my name is Meatball. I am a short little squatty “Micro-Bully” (the vet thinks maybe American/English Bulldog, a little bit French and a little bit mini pittie) and I weigh a diminutive 35lbs. Although I am small in size, I am big in personality. I love to play with and chase my foster brother and sister, Roscoe (a CEBR alum) and Layla, around the backyard. I don’t do very well catching up to them. They have much longer legs. Although I am fully grown, my foster parents think I am still very puppy-like in some of my behaviors. I don’t like getting my paws wiped when I come in from outside. We are also working on understanding what are my toys rather than my foster parent’s hands. I need some redirection. I also need to learn to take treats gently. I get so excited that did a good job and earned a treat. I sometimes forget to take it nicely. My forever family needs to be patient with me as I keep learning. Since I am only 1-2 years old, my foster brother and sister are being good role models for me. They taught me a lot about walking on a leash and going on a walk. I was mostly potty trained when I got to my foster home, but Layla and Roscoe helped remind me where to do my business. When CEBR rescued me, I came in with a skin condition. The vet gave me some medicine and it is slowly clearing up. I am doing much better. I do want a family that can give me attention. I will follow you around and be your shadow. Then, I will quietly go back to my safe place, my crate. I do love big fluffy beds too. As you can see in my pictures, I am cute and adorable. My little tongue is often sticking out of my face. I love to give kisses and I am looking forward to finding my forever family! I’d really like to have other dogs in my forever family! Meet a VERY handsome meatball sandwich named AMMO! This big guy has had a rough life & is looking for his forever family. He is a big, soft headed meatball with tons of love to give. He is toy reactive & cannot have them with other dogs. He just hates sharing but I mean can you blame him? He would do best in a stable home with adults & NO CHILDREN. He can be picky when it comes to dog friends & although he is fostered with cats, he would do best without them. He is a low, slow, guy with a heart as big as his head & deserves the best life. He does not need tons of activity & will do well in an apartment. For more information, email dtrafadopt@gmail.com

Story
Hi, my name is Honey. I'm about 1.5 year old Bull Dog /Pit Bull mix. I am looking for my forever home or foster to adopt home. My current foster family is going to be relocating soon, and I am looking for my forever family. Let me share what my ideal home would look like: an active family that will continue my training and give me regular walks. My new family will give me expectations and structure. I would also love a fur companion that likes to play. You see, I don't have a long list, but these are things that will help with my happy energy. I am housebroken and crate trained. I love to cuddle and be with my people. I do walk nicely on a leash, but sometimes I do pull when I see rabbits, squirrels, or another doggie I would want to play with. I get along with other dogs. I would do better with children 10 or older as I get excited and don't want to knock down smaller children.. I am current on my vetting- spayed, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordatella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, negative Lyme, and Erlichia. If you are interested in meeting me please go to the website www.atailof4paws.org and fill out the application. Your one application away from meeting me.

Story
Bertha is an amazing bulldog mix with red Merle coloring that is gorgeous. Bertha was found as a stray most likely after being used as a breeding dog. Bertha makes a great cuddle buddy on the couch, but she can also enjoy short walks with you. She loves to self entertain by chewing on her toys, she loves the simple things in life! This little potato (or is she a meatball?) is 2-3 years old and has a smile and a waddle that will melt your heart. She’s convinced she’s a lap dog, so get ready for some cozy cuddle sessions. Bertha enjoys short walks and loves chewing on her toys. Bertha would thrive with an experienced adopter, she can get a little territorial of her home due to her bulldog nature but she has been easy to work with through our trainer and would do best in a home committed to continual training. Bertha is crate trained and is learning commands like "wait" and knows how to "sit"! Her fosters describe her as a mixed breed of: rustic potatoes, meatballs, and tater tots. If your home is missing a gorgeous chunky cuddle monster, you've found her! Three words to describe Bertha? Affectionate, Super Sweet, and headstrong! Looking for a playful cuddle bug to complete your home? Jersey girl is a short stout with an outgoing personality. She is so funny. Loves kids and every person she meets. Needing a home with no dogs, she still is involved with pack walks and leash skill classes. Maintaining a good citizen, we believe she has had past trama so extended play with dogs gets her stressed and that is why we have required no dog home. Sadly that is why she sits in our facility so long. We really would love to see this amazing girl get the family she deserves.
