Story
(Amiri does NOT come alone. I implore you to read fully before submitting your app) Amiri weights about 80. He is a bigger guy but he thinks he’s a lap baby. He is so full of life and great cuddle buddy. He has being physically abused quite a bit. Sudden foot movements, brooms, mops, & yelling scare him. He’s actually afraid of a lot more as well. In very new setting he quickly finds a small place he can retreat to just in case he is in danger. He’s a gentle giant, but he’s been hurt a lot. Whoever is willing to take him must understand he comes with his 6 year old mom Chanel who has health problems. (Her profile is also posted) These two require a home with no other pets or kids so they can showered with love and affection, and with Chanel’s heart issues it’s best for them. They love their quiet times and their naps.

Story
Chanel is around 6 years old. She and her son have been heavily neglected and abused. She requires a lot of care as her heart is going into failure and she has been unable to get medical care for a long time. She very sweet and gentle but protects her son Amiri with all that she has left in her. Her care is several meds she takes in the morning and again at night. The heart/water pill does cause her to have frequent urination.

Story
The day we met Edwina, we told her she reminded us of someone...🦭 We tried posing her with traffic cones and every camera angle possible to capture her impressive, seal-like stature. This big lovable gal was surrendered due to skin allergies, but she's already healing and feeling better. She loves scratches, treats, tennis balls, and after a little time outside, she's ready to sploot. Eddie, as she's also known, prefers the A/C. She knows the assignment: stay cool, get loved, and find her forever home. Serving Neil the Seal vibes while waiting for a home. 100% dog. 12% elephant seal. 1,000% lovable. Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm. All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers). We recommend and can arrange dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog. Story
Hi! My name is Tank! Im a handsome beefcake of a puppy, and at just over 2 years old Im a solid 70 lbs, but my foster fam is getting me a bit trimmer. As I mentioned, Im still a bit of a puppy and I still have some puppy habits my foster family is working on. I can be a little play rough and sometimes think everyone (but mostly my foster dad) wants to be tackled! Im more gentle with my foster mom and human sister, but we are working on not being so jumpy and rough. When I want some love, I do sit nicely and wait for pets, I just get a little excited and dont always know what to do when I am getting pets. I love a good belly scratch! I have very expressive eyes especially when Im excited. I LOVE exploring. I have a long lead when I go outside and sometimes I like to go on adventures to the other parts of the yard, so I would probably love a fenced in yard. I dont bark, but I will hang out by the door when I have to go. My foster family is using a bell for me to let them know I need to go outside. I do have a pretty consistent post-meal potty routine! When Im outside, I know what to do! I have a few toys, and Im getting better at entertaining myself while foster mom works during the day. I play a little tug, enjoy chewing on semi-soft toys, and bones. Im NOT a fan of grooming! But Im working on it When I came in, I had a terrible tail infection, and it was so painful I wouldnt let anyone touch it! This made me very cranky about getting it cleaned up. But Im feeling better now and tolerate it a lot more than I did before! My foster fam has a system that involves lots of treats, sweet talk, and more treats when Im done. And I let them know when Im finished tolerating it. This works for me! If youre on the couch and looking for a buddy Im down for that! But I may need a hand getting up there Im confident, but clumsy! Once Im there, Ill sit next to you if you scratch my belly and keep the scratches coming. Im still learning about this thing called personal space, so I may stand myself awkwardly across your lap. And I will ALWAYS protect you from the dogs in the windows and mirrors theres a handsome one that just KEEPS following me everywhere I go! How annoying! I sleep in a kennel at night and am kenneled if everyone is gone from the house. It took me a minute to get used to being free range without supervision, but if the things Im not supposed to have are put away, Im surprisingly good at it. Thats not to say I dont get into things Im not supposed to have, so when in doubt, Im comfortable hanging in my kennel with some safe toys. I live with two canine foster siblings. They see me, but we havent mingled yet, since my tail was so sore my foster fam didnt want any accidental bumps or scratches that would make me mad. When they see me, we exchange barks and then Im over it. I have only been around big (13+ yrs old) kids, and thats safest for me. I am young, a bit jumpy, and sometimes think Im a linebacker so littles might get knocked over. Im not a huge fan of loud noises they make me run in the other direction foster mom found that out the hard way on my recent walk! Speaking of walks, foster mom is trying to get me to walk a little further each time, but walking is not my thing. I can be convinced with some treats, but I still dont get far. Im decent on the leash, until Ive decided Im finished. Then Im a big guy that wont budge. Guess thats why they call me Tank! Hellooooo, I'm Diesel. Im an English Bulldog and Boston Terrier mix, or so they tell me. Im on the smaller side (around 35lbs), and they think Im 4-5 years old, but who knows, because I have lots of puppy energy. Do you like to play, run, serve up delicious... FOOD? Then Im your doggie. I LOVEEE all of those things! I am the most active bulldog you will EVER meet (did you know they make bulldogs in that energy level? Because I sure didnt). I am a very nice boy but I will need training. I know sit and come though! I need help on not counter surfing, jumping, and other basic commands, I am VERY smart though and I pick up things fast. I hope youll teach me so I can be even smarter. I am a very handsome boy with a black and white coat, my ears are black, my head is white and the rest of me is black. My foster family says Im the best looking doggie on the block! I guess you can see that from the pictures though. I LOVE FOOD, however I can be quite possessive and rude to other doggos about it. I chew a lot too, so I need someone to help me get better about this. Or who is home a decent amount of the time to keep me from chewing or eating things I'm not supposed to. I am the sweetest guy you will ever meet and I am kind to everyone, and animals (at least the ones I have been tested with). There is another dog at my foster home, and I have no problems with her. I would love a large yard with a lot of space to run around and chew on my toys (balls are my favorite). I LOVE WATER!!!! I love eating the water out of the hose and jumping through it, I could spend all day doing that. My motto is hose play, eat, repeat! I would definitely like a hose to play with (my foster family doesn't know if I can swim yet but they think I would like somewhere to swim). Well I hope you consider having me for your personal shadow and forever buddy!!! with love and slobbery kisses, Diesel Please visit our website www.ebullymatch.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Hiya! My name isBuddy. Im a young, handsome bundle of energy and Ive got a heart so big it barely fits inside my chest. I absolutely cannot wait to find my "forever" human so I can shower them with all the love Ive been saving up! I like to keep a close eye on my people. I dont need to be sitting right on your lap (though I wouldn't say no!) but just being in the same room as you is enough to make me feel like the luckiest dog in the world. Dont let my energy fool you, when the sun goes down, Im perfectly happy snoozing away in my favorite chair in the living room. Im alreadyhousebroken(gold star for me!) and Ive got the basics down. I know how to"Sit," "Touch,"and"Down." My foster family says my tail wags so hard it makes my whole back-end move. I just cant help itI get so excited to see the people I love! Im also a very good boy about my gearIm not opposed to wearing my harness or being on a leash, though I'll be honest:I dont care much for walks.Im more of a "stroll to the car and go for a drive" kind of guy. And I do LOVE car rides!! My foster family thinks I would be a great companion for any frequent traveler. I'll be honest with you: I'm a bit of a talker! I like to bark to let the world know I'm here. Sometimes, meeting new people makes me nervous, and I forget that I'm safe. Because of that, my foster family has me working with a professional trainer to help me stay calm and quiet when I meet new friends. Im a fast learner, and I promise Im trying my very best. I just need a patient person who understands that Im alovable work in progress. Once I realize youre a friend, Im all wiggles and wrinkles! Miss Honey is spayed and fully healthy! She is up to date on vaccines. She is also microchipped!Miss Honey is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! 💧: Reliably potty trained and lets you know when they need to go outside. 🏠 : Prefers to be free-roam to a doggy-proofed area as opposed to a crate. 🚶: Will benefit from continued training. Tends to bark/pull/jump on leash towards other dogs and/or people and will benefit from a calm neighborhood and experienced handler, or a backyard. 🐶: Prefers to Be the Only Dog: Happiest as the center of attention and does best without other dogs in the home. 😺: Not Cat Friendly: Does not do well with cats and should live in a cat-free home. 🧒: Best with Older Kids: Would thrive in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can respect their boundaries. Miss Honey is the absolute best girl! She loves hard, and she will follow you all over the house, just wanting to be close to her people at all times. She plays hard, too! She loves to run around the yard and play tug with her people... but only for like 20 minutes and then it's time for a nap. She snuggles hard, and loves to park herself on the couch and get as much of her body on your body as she can. She's friendly with every person she meets and within moments of greeting you she'll show you her belly for rubs and will give you the sweetest, most gentle kisses if you'll let her. She would appreciate an adopter who can help her channel her energy in positive ways when she becomes overstimulated, to avoid mouthing and jumping behaviors. 🧬: This pet has not been DNA tested, we are unsure of their actual breed makeup, but these are the breeds we think they look like! 💰: Miss Honey’s adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous supporter! 🩷: Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/. Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org.
