adoptaBull english bulldog rescue only adopts within our Midwestern radius. Our radius includes Chicago and suburbs, most of Northern Illinois, SW Wisconsin, and NW Indiana. If you fall within our adoption radius and are interested in adopting, please apply on our website: adoptabull.org. Following is more information about Portia. Portia is a puppy mill survivor. She is extremely shy because she was not people-socialized as a puppy and finds a lot of things scary. We worked extensively with her to get her accustomed to humans and routines in a house. Portia LOVES playing with other dogs. She also enjoys safe chew toys and her safe place (crate). She likes to be around her people but needs the freedom to do it her way--maybe a quick cuddle, maybe not. Her perfect forever family is extremely gentle and patient. They must be willing to work to earn Portia's trust and to reassure her that nobody will hurt her. They will be home most of the time, have other dogs for Portia to play with and a fenced back yard so she doesn't need to be on a leash that scares her.

Story
Hey there! I’m Enzo! Boy, I’m loving it in CEBR’s care but hey! I’m ready for my forever home! I’m a playful and snuggly little guy. I’m two years old, and pretty small for a bully- under 40lbs. I love people, and I enjoy running around the backyard, chasing balls, and going on long walks with my people. I’m really good on a leash and I will walk right by your side. My favorite thing in the world is chewing on tennis balls, they’re amazing! I was picked up off of the streets as a stray, and CEBR stepped up to take me in immediately. At that time, I needed an urgent (and expensive!) surgery to create a urethra, because I was born without a way for urine to exit my body. I’m not telling people about my life before that, but they think I was likely the product of intentional breeding for my “exotic colors,” and that I was probably discarded when it was discovered that I had other differences too. Although my beautiful coat is unique, and my eyes are striking (one blue, one brown ♥). Overall, I’m a really healthy boy, and I don’t take any medicines, but I do live with something called spina bifida. Although there are lots of levels of spina bifida, I’m told mine is relatively mild. I have no mobility differences at all (I love to run, jump, play, and can even do stairs) but I do wear a diaper because I do not have control of my potty. I also need someone to push on my tummy to help me empty my bladder a few times a day. I'm a very good boy and don't cause a fuss during this, I know it helps me. The vet says spina bifida is not progressive, so I won’t ever “get worse,” but I will be incontinent for life. It’s just who I am! In truth, the diapers are no big deal (and I’ll never piddle on your carpet or drag you out to potty in a snowstorm!) and are easy to master quickly. I stand there while I get changed and then I get snacks for being a good boy! But it does mean I will need a special adopter that will be committed to me for life and won’t be away from me for really long periods of time since I will need regular diaper changes every 3-4 hours or so when I’m awake (I am fine overnight). One more thing, I’d really prefer to be an only dog, so I get all of your attention to myself. I’m gonna go back to chewing my ball now! Bye! -Enzo Everyone at CEBR really wants the best for this little guy, he had a hard start to life and needs a ride-or-die person (or people) to open their hearts to him. If you think you might be a good match for Enzo start by viewing our Adoption Area Map (all applicants must live in the areas indicated). If you fall within the boundaries and are interested in applying to adopt him, complete an application by visiting www.ebullymatch.com If you would like to donate to Enzo's care, please go to our website at http://shopcebr.com/products/donation.

Story
Hi! My name is Chelsea Dagger (yes, Blackhawk fans, THAT Chelsea Dagger!). Chicago Animal Control found me on the streets and when they found me, I was super thin (under 45lbs), limping, and in all-around pretty rough shape. I had obviously been bred before being abandoned. I now look healthy! My limp is gone, and I love to walk, jump and play. I even do stairs well. You would never know I have arthritis if it weren't for my daily doggie ibuprofen! The vet says I’m about 4 years old, and I am doing really well! I must have received some training along the way, because I haven’t had any accidents in the house. I am doing great with sitting, learning to stay when doors are open, and my leash walking has improved. In short, I will do just about anything for a treat. I still need to work a bit on jumping up, but I get so excited when I see my foster mom and dad that sometimes I forget. Oh, and I’m quite the wiggle-butt! Although my tail is short and stumpy it is almost always wagging. I don’t mind going in my crate to bed every night, or when my foster parents are away. Otherwise, I like to be out where I can explore and be close to whoever is in the room. I love being near my foster parents and I’m very inquisitive and affectionate. I’m learning all the different sounds of my foster house and my neighborhood. Some of them make me nervous, and sometimes I bark at night – but usually settle down pretty quickly. My foster parents tease me that I really want to be a lap dog. I’m only 50 pounds (soon to be more like 70!), so I don’t understand what the big deal is. Oh, and when my foster mom and dad are in Zoom meetings, they keep me busy with bones and licking mats – so I like it when they have meetings. I also like joining their meetings on occasion and am always the star of the show. People love my little snaggle tooth that pops out when I smile. My foster family has another female dog, and I’m not too sure about her yet. Every time I go outside, I look around to see if she is there, and wag my tail a lot when we walk together. I think I want to be friends, but I don’t know how. Maybe it is the time I spent on the street and the way I was treated by other dogs, but I always feel like I need to defend myself. I’m still working on it. I haven’t been around any children – so I’m not sure how I feel about them. I’m also not sure what cats are, or how I would feel about them. I am really smart and would love a family who would play with me, give me fun puzzles and activities to do, and most of all Cuddle! I am a full body hugger and snuggle bug. My foster parents seem to think that I would be best in a home without any other dogs so I can give all the loves and get all the loves. They tell me I am very sweet, and they think I would make a fantastic only dog. Story
Woof! Hello! Hi! My name is Kedzie and I am a new addition to CEBR. I was one of 12 dogs recently surrendered by a breeder. I don’t want to dwell on my past but instead focus my 1 and 1/3 blue eyes on my bright, pawsome future! I’m an extremely shy, Olde English bulldog with blue and brown eyes, a tail that wags fast when I’m happy and the softest brindle fur you’ll ever pet. I’m 16 months old, and weigh about 40lbs. Since moving in with my foster family I started learning how to be a pet and enjoying the luxuries every bully should have. Initially I was afraid of everything and everyone. Even after a few weeks, I still scare easily and move cautiously. Each day gets easier but this life is new to me so it will take time and patience to be comfortable. I love having my crate with a soft blanket-that is my home and safe space. I go there when I’m afraid. As I get more comfortable, I spend less time in my crate and instead hang out sniffing toys, chewing bones and wagging my tail. Don’t forget, these luxuries are new to me so I’m still figuring it all out. I currently have my own space in my foster home. When given the opportunity to explore beyond my area, I venture into the next room and quickly return to my space. I’m not ready to explore much but I’m sure it will get easier with time. I am house trained. My foster mama says this is amazing and that I’m a smart girl; my foster bulldog brother calls me a show-off. I haven’t figured out how to say it’s potty-time but I’m sure we will figure it out together. Bulldogs love food and this blue-eyed beauty is no exception! It didn’t take long for me to love my food and treats wagging my tail non-stop at mealtime! I even leap around if I think it’s time to eat. I am currently on ear drops and my foster mama says I’m the sweetest girl for getting my medicine. I sit nicely when my eyes get wiped and my mini nose rope and folds get cleaned. Lucky for you and me, there is no tail pocket to keep clean. Did I mention I am a young lady? At only 16 months old, I am still a bit mischievous and may try to chew on something not meant for me. With supervision, patience and positive reinforcement, I will learn. I think the perfect home that is very quiet, with only 1 or 2 adults would be best. Wherever I live, everyone must be very patient with me so I can adjust to my new environment. Having another dog in the home may be good for me. A calm dog may teach me how to enjoy the dog life and make me more comfortable. There is a resident bulldog in my foster house. We are staying separate for now, but I am curious to see what he’s all about. If you haven’t fallen in love with me already, take a look at my pictures. My foster mama said I’m even cuter in-person. Thank you for reading about me. I will continue to learn and become more confident in my new world while waiting for the perfect family for me! Woof woof for now! Story
Hello everyone! My name is Lilly and if you like playtime, then I’m your girl! I’m about 2 years old, and weight about 50lbs- give or take. I was found as a stray in Chicago a few weeks ago and since then I’ve found my way to CEBR and have been living with my foster dad and foster dog sister, who is also a CEBR gal. Since moving in with them, I have found out about these things called “toys” and WOW am I absolutely LOVING these things! Hard, soft, chewy, squishy, cotton-filled...I love them all! My favorite are the ones that squeak! I’ll chew those for hours. I also love playing fetch (short distances only…I have little legs). I’m also an amazing cuddler. I enjoy resting my chin on your arm or leg and waiting for some pets. I’ll probably roll over at some point and want you to scratch my belly too. That is the best feeling! I’m very friendly and when we go outside for walks, I love saying hello to every dog and person. I love to run up to everyone and ask for pets. Meeting new friends is so much fun! I have a lot of energy so when I get excited, I have to be reminded of a couple of things- I’m learning that when I want your attention, I shouldn’t jump on you and when we are playing that I should only chew toys and not try to get your attention by licking your hand. When I first got to my foster home, I was missing quite a bit of fur. I was given these things called antibiotics and since then, my skin has cleared up and my fur is starting to grow back! It’s not all the way back yet, but hopefully soon! I also have dry eye and will have to have eye drops for the rest of my life. These don’t really bother me all that much though. I’m usually really good at letting someone put the drops in my eyes. My foster dad says that I’m really smart and have learned a lot in the few weeks I’ve been in a home. Sometimes, I still make mistakes and go potty inside, but these are few and far between now. My perfect home is one where the entire family is ready to play! Since I’m still learning some things, having a little extra patience until I master everything will be important, but I’m making great progress! Thanks for taking the time to meet me. I gotta run…there’s a toy over there I need to chomp on!!! Story
Hello! My name is Maggie. I was given that name after the main character in the Julia Roberts movie "Runaway Bride" because when I arrived at my foster, I tried to run away from everyone and everything – people, treats, baths, comfy beds – everything. I didn't know anything or anyone and I just wanted to be left alone. But I've learned that the right people will keep me clean and fed, offer treats (which I take very gently), and give me the attention I want on my own terms. Now instead of trying to run away, I look forward to putting on the leash and going walks all over the place. The vets say I’m less than 2 years old, and I weigh 42lbs. I just had my “cherry eyes” fixed, so when you see my pics, imagine me without those pink bumps on my eyes. I’m housetrained, and I'm super calm when walking around and am fine with other dogs. As for people, sometimes I'm a little nervous at first and will casually hide behind your legs, but that usually doesn't last very long. I really love people and will roll over for belly rubs pretty quickly for anyone being friendly. Birds and squirrels are evil though, and every time I see one, they have to be put in their place! I'll go from calm, well-behaved dog to a loud barker, pulling hard as I can trying to climb a tree if I see one of those small furballs scamper up a branch. Sometimes busy roads with big trucks make me a bit more nervous, but normal neighborhood streets are great, and for the most part I'm a quiet, loose-leash walking kind of gal. As I come out of my shell, I'm showing everyone I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I sort of know how to sit, and I love giving paw. I like snuggling next to you on the couch and will gently nudge you when you need to give me more pets. I'm fine staying at home alone and am not into destroying pillows or cushions, but if you're home and I'm not able to get to you, I can be super sad – and I'll let you know with some mournful whines and puppy eyes. All of that, plus my adorable floppy ears and my slightly smaller than average-bulldog sized body (I think I'm part beagle!), usually makes me irresistible. I'm fine with stairs, and even though I love the couch, I still remember how safe my crate made me feel during those first few days and will sometimes go sleep there. I used to be nervous when hands would reach for me, especially around my ears, but that quickly went away, and one of my favorite things now are head and neck scratches. I may have been named Maggie because I wanted to run away, but now I'd rather cuddle on the couch at home with you and yell at squirrels. If you would like to donate to Maggie’s care, and the care of dogs like her, please go to our website at http://shopcebr.com/products/donation or Venmo @ChicagoEBR HOW TO QUALIFY FOR A CEBR BULLY- To determine if you qualify to adopt one of our adorable bullies start by viewing our Adoption Area Map.
