Story
Meet Thelma! She is a 1yr old beautiful golden eyed female Staffordshire Bull/American Staffordshire Terrier mix that weighs 36lbs. She came into the shelter on 10/2 as a stray. Reviewing her pictures through dog scanner, stated there may also be cattle dog in the mix. No matter, she is a very sweet gentle loving pup. She can be shy initially, but given some time she becomes your BFF. She walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and maybe housetrained. She has been very well cared for as can be seen in her clean, soft fur. She loves to be petted and loved on, will give you kisses on your hand, and will sneak a kiss or two on your face. She didn`t show much interest in toys, and the squeaky ones seemed to frighten her. As other dogs were barking at her, she didn`t show any interest, as she wanted to go out into the yard to stretch her legs. While out in the yard she had a burst of the zoomies, with her ears up and a big smile on her face. She hopes to find her own loving family soon, a secured yard to play in, but definitely be an indoor pup as she is a great cuddlebug! You couldn`t ask for a more loyal loving companion!

With a moderate energy level (around a 3 indoors and up to a 7 when it’s time to play), Scooby loves to be active but also knows how to settle in for cuddles and quiet time with his people.   This handsome boy is incredibly devoted and forms strong bonds with the people he loves. He’s happiest close to his person, whether that means soaking up belly rubs, nudging you with his nose for attention, or curling up beside you for snuggles. Scooby is affectionate, loyal, and naturally watchful over his family in the sweetest way.   Scooby already knows basic commands including sit, down, and wait, and he enjoys learning new things, making him a great candidate for continued training. He’s smart, eager to please, and very responsive. Outdoors, his athletic side shines—he’s fast, agile, and loves to play fetch, chase toys, and stretch out in the sunshine. He especially enjoys playing with larger dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion with a similar play style.   One of Scooby’s especially nice qualities is his calm nature during storms, something many families appreciate. While he enjoys activity and playtime, he also values comfort, affection, and simply being near his people.   Scooby would thrive in a home that can provide regular exercise, plenty of playtime, frequent potty breaks, and owners who are home much of the time. He’s looking for a forever family that wants both an adventure buddy and a devoted cuddle companion.   If you’re searching for a young dog who is loving, loyal, intelligent, and ready to become someone’s best friend, Scooby may be your perfect match. â¤ï¸   To set up an adoption meeting with Scooby please complete our application on the website below then   TEXT SARA:  214-549-9905   So I can check your application and get back to you!   www.dashdog.org General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Story
Meet Sebastian! He is a 2 yr old male mixed breed that weighs 69lbs. He is a very handsome boy and when using dog scanner it stated he may have a mix of Border Collie, Besenji, and Bull Terrier. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/27 as a stray. He has a majestic and regal look about him, but also a goofy side. With one ear up, long body and glossy coat he is a standout. He does need some manners training as he will jump on you, but with a sharp retort he was responsive. He also has his silly goofy side when it comes to toys. He would need to have strong rubber ones to play with. He does want to please and will sit for treats and take them gently. He didn’t show interest in other dogs, yet we do ask if there is another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. He is rambunctious, enthusiastic, playful, fun loving, joyful, and friendly. He has a semi-strong pull on a leash. He will need a secured yard for his playtime but wants to spend time in the house, enjoying his new loving family.

Shrimp is an approximately 1.5-year-old, 38-pound dog who is currently part of our Diamond Dog program, a designation given to dogs who have been in the shelter for over 90 days without being adopted. Shrimp is a dog-friendly, sweet, and gentle companion who is eager to form a meaningful connection with his person. He is still building confidence and will benefit from a patient and consistent home that can help him continue to grow and thrive. With the right environment, Shrimp has the potential to develop into a deeply loyal and loving companion. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and heartworm negative. His adoption fee is $75. Shrimp is ready for a fresh start and a home where he can truly belong. Story
Diamond Dog Alert - Meet Gator Gator has officially been named a Diamond Dog as of 05/04/26, meaning he has been patiently waiting over 90 days for a family to call his own. Because of that, his adoption fee has been reduced to $75 to help him finally get the fresh start he deserves. Gator is an approximately 1.5-year-old Shiba Inu/Shepherd mix weighing around 40 pounds. He came to the Rockwall Adoption Center with his brother, Shrimp, after their family could no longer care for them. While that chapter of his life has closed, Gator is ready to begin a much brighter one. He is a friendly, social dog who enjoys being around people and does well with other dogs. Gator is still building confidence in new situations, but he continues to make steady progress every day. He is currently working on leash training and improving with consistency and positive reinforcement. With patience and guidance, Gator has all the potential to grow into a loyal, confident, and well-rounded companion. Gator is neutered, microchipped, current on rabies and DHLPP vaccinations, and heartworm negative. If you are looking for a sweet dog you can help grow and thrive, Gator may be the perfect fit. Apply to adopt Gator at https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ . Gator has been waiting and is ready to take the next step with the right family.  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX.
