Bear is the perfect name for this love bug.  He's a gorgeous senior at 12 years old, and 54 pounds.   The perfect combination of Bassett Hound and Lab.  Beautiful red coloring. Bear is just a sweetheart.  No senior should find themself in the shelter.  We're happy he came into DRLA, and we told him his forever home is on it's way. He gets along with everyone...people and dogs.  Don't know about cats. He needs a home with a yard.  Not suited for apartments or condos. Sherlock was born in 2016, my family and I picked him up in July because the family that found him couldn't have a dog in their home. He likes to warm your toes up by laying on them and he likes warm sweaters. Even though he is 7 years old he still has the aloofness of a puppy. His new home should be able to give him long walks at least twice a day, he has a lot of energy. We haven't been able to figure out how to train him that going out for walks means walking and not sprinting. Sometimes he forgets he's not supposed to jump, because it's bad for his long body and for whomever he jumps on. But he loves cats, even if they don't like him. He loves children and other friendly dogs. His best friend (small shih tzu) died at the beginning of this year and he hasn't been the same. We bring him inside to eat with us or make sure someone is keeping him company while he eats, otherwise he won't eat. He deserves a loving family with lots of time and energy to keep up with him.

Bear is an adorable 2.5 - 3 year old, 50lb, Bassett Hound/ Labrador mix. We would like to put him in a calm home, with a secure, fenced backyard. He has short legs but he can jump high. He would be best as an only dog, or with a female dog that likes to play rough. He is healthy, neutered, current on all vaccines, and microchipped. Adoption only open to Southern California residents. We do not adopt out to households with children under 10 years old. An application needs to be filled out prior to meeting any of our dogs. Meatball is a 3-1/2 yr old Basset Hound/Pitbull mix that weighs about 50 lbs. He was brought to a shelter after being found as a stray in the Oxnard area. He is house trained, loves car rides. He’s a huge sweetheart who gives big kisses and wants to play all the time but gets tired pretty quick! He’s been at the dog beach, gone hiking and practiced off leash behavior in multiple outdoor settings. Meatball has a hard time separating from his current caretaker and will be working with a trainer who will help his transition into another home. He is crate trained and has a clean bill of health, is up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped.
