Story
(DOB 11/01/2018) Charlie, the bundle of fun and energy that’s ready to bring joy to any home! This playful guy is all about having a good time whether it’s running through the sprinkler on a hot summer day or chasing leaves in the back yard in the fall!  Charlie’s also super smart and knows a lot of commands, making him an eager learner. His cuddles are top-notch, and he’s a master of giving sweet, gentle kisses and deep, loving stares right into your eyes. He’d thrive in a home with a yard, or with an active family who’ll keep him moving if they live in an apartment. He’d make an excellent addition to a family with one or two other dogs, though he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only best buddy. We think he'd do great with kids, too! Charlie is playful, loving, and just plain fun—if you’re looking for a happy, energetic companion, he’s your guy! Charlie has a big personality in a compact size (~40lbs), especially when it comes to his interest in those other furries called cats! If he spots a cat, he’s very interested in giving chase, so be aware when you are out and about. He is also still mastering walking on a leash and still pulls but  working on it. Charlie sleeps in his kennel, and he has a nice cushy bed which he doesn't chew. If you have a fence yard and you let Charlie out to romp, run around, play and goof off, know he loves to dig. Keep him busy otherwise he could get into some mishchief. After a long and lovely romp, he likes to chill out in a big, comfy bed on his cot. Are you looking for a guy just like Charlie? Then get your application submitted! As part of Charlie’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Charlie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2239684##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Lucy – A Gentle 9Year-Old Basset Hound–Terrier Mix  Lucy is a shy, timid, and incredibly sweet 9-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who arrived at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after her owner entered hospice care. She and her brother, Ricky, spent their entire lives together, but sadly, not in a safe or loving environment. The family openly admitted that both dogs were hit throughout their lives as a form of discipline—and that no one ever stepped in to stop the abuse. They were surrendered when their owner entered hospice.  To make matters worse, not a single family member, including the owner’s husband, was willing to take them in. When they were surrendered, the family assured us the dogs were up to date on their shots, but we quickly discovered they had not seen a veterinarian in more than three years. Both arrived with severe dental disease, and Lucy was additionally diagnosed with a heart murmur. Now safe at Rainbow Bridge, Lucy is slowly learning that gentle hands and kind voices exist, and that she finally deserves the comfort and compassion she was always denied. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Lucy is the quieter of the pair, she is timid and flinches when you raise your hand to pet her. She’s gentle, calm, and enjoys spending her days lounging in soft blankets or quietly following her foster mom around the house. Life has recently changed a lot for her, and she’s still learning to trust and feel secure again. With patience, kindness, and love, Lucy’s sweet personality continues to blossom a little more every day.  She is potty trained but does occasionally have accidents.   Adoption Fee  $300 tps://rainbowbridgerescue.org/adopt/  Application must be completed Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2025, 6:10 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ricky A 14-year-old Basset Hound–Terrier mix who recently came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue after his owner passed away and none of the family would take him.  He arrived with Lucy and these two sweet souls have spent their entire lives together.  While we would like to keep them together, they are not bonded and can be adopted separately. He was hit by his owner but he doesn't seem to be as traumatized as Lucy.   Ricky, true to his namesake, is full of life and charm — friendly, outgoing, and always ready for a cuddle.   Thank you for helping us keep our promise — to care for seniors like Lucy and Ricky when they need us most. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Tarot is always ready for fun.  This 9-month old, male 40-lb pit mix wants to play all day.  Every morning since he was rescued from the shelter, he empties his foster family’s toy box and spreads the toys throughout the house and the yard.  His favorite activity may be to take a large stuffed toy, throw it up in the air over his head, and then chase it down.  He also loves to play with his foster sister dog and neighbor dog, running around the yard and wrestling non-stop.  Once he has exhausted himself from play, he loves to curl up next to you - or better yet on top of you - and get his cuddles. For a younger dog, Tarot is a very quick learner.  Other than a few small accidents on his very first day out of the shelter, Tarot has shown to be fully potty trained.  He sleeps through the night, snoring away.  He has learned quickly to sit when he comes inside from playing outside, and as long as treats are involved, has mastered lying down.  Tarot walks well on a leash and has shown no signs of being leash reactive.  He has also been very respectful of the “rules” established by his older foster sister, who does not always welcome Tarot’s exuberance.  He will do very well in a house with other dogs.  (We don’t know how he would do with cats.)  Tarot will also do well with children.  While he does not have young kids in his foster home, he was ready for pets from the young visitors at a recent meet and greet event.  Tarot is not left alone very often, but he has done well in the crate for short durations or when the family has been out for dinner.   Tarot loves every dog and person he meets and is always ready to play or snuggle. He is neutered and up-to-date! Tarot is ready to find his forever family! ************************************************************************ The adoption fee is $400, which covers food, vetting, microchip and the spay/neuter surgery performed by a rescue-affiliated vet.  All dogs receive a wellness visit and are up to date on shots appropriate for age.  Breed and size is Pawfect Match Rescue's best guess and not guaranteed. Please go to https://www.pawfectmatch.org/animals/search? and search on the dog name to see more photos, browse the profile, and complete an application Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 9, 2025, 2:32 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Liliana (Lily)! Lily is a sweet and spunky 4 year old 40-pound beagle/hound mix. She is completely vetted and healthy    Lily's Best Day Lily wants to be with her people and doing whatever you do.  She also has a TON of energy and will chase a ball around for an hour-- and wear you out just in watching her TV enthusiast – yes, she really watches with interest.  She currently is rewatching Gossip Girl with her foster mama.  She really **hates** the manatees screen saver on Apple TV and will try to chase She loves to chase the Roomba, although she knows 'no' when her foster mama tells her to knock it off.  Sometimes she will go and nose Roomba to try to get it to play Collector of dog bowls – she gathers them up and bangs them around like trophies Chases her Kong like it owes her money She gets a dental bone each night at bedtime and loves it   Training & Temperament: Loves her people – with proper introductions, she greets kids and adults with a happy tail.  But if someone wants to sneak into your house-- they won't get very far with Lily on watch.  She is VERY protective once settled and can snap if she thinks her people are at risk by an unsanctioned dog or person.  Given this, Lily would NOT be good at dog parks-- she would be in cop mode the whole time.  Foster mama walks Lily carefully and gives her distance from others on the street so she doesn't feel that her pack is threatened.   Food motivated – she learns fast with snacks as rewards.  She will sit for a treat in a split second.  She is great at catching popcorn or blueberries Must be introduced to other dogs properly. While Lily lives with 7 other dogs of all ages and sizes, she will get upset if another dog is in her face.  With introductions, she gets along with most dogs Easy to groom- you can wipe her with a washcloth Crate trained and sleeps through the night like a champ.  She has the full run of the house without being destructive Fully potty trained – no accidents here!   The Vibe: Very silly and finds creative ways to entertain herself Very protective of her people.     If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate pup who will make every day more entertaining, Lily just might be your Pawfect Match!
