Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Barkley is one handsome and adorable dog! Gentle by nature, he can also be a bit clumsy – he’s part Basset after all. Still, Barkley is a dream to walk since he is always checking to make sure you're following him or near him. He does not want to be too far apart from his human. Barkley does have hound tendencies with his nose often to the ground and an ear for squirrels. He loves a little bit of fetch with a ball or a stuffed toy.  Barkley is still learning basic manners. He knows to “sit” on command, but "four on the floor," is a challenge for him. With his 38 lbs weight and solid build, he needs a family without small children. Barkley has some separation anxiety and would prefer a family who will not need to crate him too often and will not leave him home alone too long. He loves other dogs and would be thrilled to have another canine companion to play with. Barkley is a sweet boy who aims to please. He’s looking forward to a family he can dedicate himself to loving and pleasing.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 5, 2025, 7:45 am

Story
Meet Maybelline or "May Mayyyy" as we like to call her, our 4 year old lowrider mix. She is known for her little legs and big heart, and she is sure to make you fall for her with all the love she gives! She also LOVES nothing more than to cuddle and ask for rubs... all day, everyday! Maybelline is currently living with another dog and has done great with him, given a slow integration period. She loves to follow her foster brother Cooper around and seems to really enjoy his company. Previous to being rescued, she was living outdoors, and since arriving to her foster home, she has shown some leash reactivity/excitability when seeing other dogs that results in her getting hyped up. She has struggled with initial meetings with unfamiliar dogs and requires slow and controlled introductions. Unfortunately we may not be able to have her participate in a dog-to-dog meet prior to adoption in a safe way. If her future home has another pet, we would suggest doing a very slow separation/integration in order to introduce and integrate her into the home with other dogs. She would also do just fine as an only pet! She is working hard with her foster mom with her leash skills, because she does get quite excited when seeing other dogs on walks. Maybelline was undergoing heartworm treatment, but has since COMPLETED THEM! She is no longer on restricted exercise and can continue to being a regular dog and living her best life! Maybelline is starting to attend some training sessions with her foster mom now she has recovered from treatments. Her future home will benefit from working on leash manners, relationship building and basic obedience skills and our rescue is happy to provide resources and financially support some training sessions for her future family! We think May May would thrive in a home that is lowkey and with a family that would spoil and love her endlessly She's a pretty quiet girl with great manners, and is looking to explore/learn a whole new world of love and adventure with her new family! Story
Sam is the most unique looking pup, he name stands for Short Adorable Mutt. It was love at first sight when we pulled him from Randolph animal shelter. He has the body of a basset hound and the head of a pitbull. He definitely has that hound bark which is so cute and he only barks to alert us of anything unusual. He is definitely a very large lap dog. He wants to be as close to you as he can possibly get. He is completely house trained and does well in his crate. He is not destructive except…he is a digger. He is also an escape artist if given the opportunity. He does however come back when he is done with what HE wants to do. He doesn’t seem to care about my cats but will give chase if they run or move quickly so I would not trust him alone with them. Although he gets along with most dogs, he is dog selective and extremely alpha so wish him to be with a one and only or tested with the other dog that would be in his home. He has been totally vetted and microchipped. He truly is a great dog, full of love to give. To apply for him please visit STFFAR.org for a online application February 1, 2025, 11:39 am

Story
We are looking for help in finding a new home for a sweet ~8-10 year old Beagle/Bassett mix, Chelsea. She is my mother in laws dog, and sadly she is in the hospital and will not be returning home. She rescued Chelsea in March of 2021. Chelsea is a chill dog who loves humans and is looking for her next family that wants to snuggle up on the couch! She is house trained and has also been trained to stay in the yard without leash. Chelsea needs to go to a home where she would be the only dog as she currently is afraid of other dogs (even small ones). She would get along best in a quiet home as she sometimes gets startled by loud or unexpected noises. Please let me know what questions we can answer about this sweet girl!
