Story
Mose is a 1 ½ year old Basset Hound/Cattle Dog mix with a natural bobtail, up to date with vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and weighs just over 30lbs. He currently lives with another dog, a cat, and three young children (10, 7, and 5) who he is fabulous with (slightly jumpy but calms quickly). He likes to chase the cat but all in play with no aggression whatsoever, just a lot of sniffing. He would do wonderful with another dog as he is buddies with the other dog in the home and got along well with new dogs when boarded recently. He is playful and active yet very sweet natured and likes to cuddle any chance he gets. He has had some training and knows, sit, stay, come, and walks well on a leash. For having short little legs he can manage to climb a 4’ fence so a 6’ fence would be recommended. Where he will need a little work is with his housebreaking. Due to the family dynamic this has not been a priority, so the effort was just not there to accomplish this. We do not need any judgment, just a home that can work with him on this and we all believe that given the proper amount of consistency and training he will master this in a very short period of time, especially given how treat motivated he is! He is still in his current home so if you are interested in adopting and have any questions please reach out to Travis, travisd8494@gmail.com, 973-440-7289.

Story
Meet Tracker. He came to us from an Alabama shelter partner along with his brother.  They were surrendered because the owner said his children didn't want to take care of them. Tracker is a very friendly and social pup.  We were told he is somewhere between 8-10 months old. Tracker is the bigger of the two at about 50 lbs. He is doing very well with crate training in his foster home and walking on a leash. Tracker does still have a lot of puppy behaviors like chewing and jumping up so he will need a home that has time for training. We don't recommend a home with children under 10 years old because of these behaviors. Knowledge and research of the breed is important because they can have health issues when they get older. Tracker is scheduled to be neutered on June 7, 2023 and will be ready for a forever home.  He is up to date with vaccines,  microchipped and tested negative for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $450.00. If you are interested in adopting Tracker, please visit our website www.LHARinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application.  ##1726928##

Meet Buddy. He came to us from an Alabama shelter partner.  Buddy was surrendered along with his brother because the owner said his kids didn't want to take care of them.  We were told they were somewhere between 8-10 months old.  Buddy is the smaller of the two. He is about 45 lbs. Buddy is very people friendly and he is learning leash manners in his foster home.  He is crate trained and will need to be in a crate when you cannot watch him. Buddy is still all puppy when it comes to chewing on things. He does jump up when he gets excited so children over 10 will be best. He will need a home that has time to watch him and train him since he still has puppy behaviors. He is scheduled to be neutered on June 7, 2023 and will be ready for a forever home.  Knowledge of the Basset breed is a plus as there are health issues that can be associated with this breed as they get older. He is up to date with vaccines,  microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Remember those Weeble Wobble toys that “wobble but don’t fall down”? That’s our Flynn, he weebles and wobbles and if he DOES fall down, he gets right back up again! This adorable 7-month-old Basset mix was born with a defect which sometimes makes his back legs a little wonky when he walks but he gets around just fine. He presently weighs between 20/25 lbs (40 lbs mature) and he runs, jumps and plays with resident foster pups. He’s a very friendly guy who loves everyone he meets- humans, dogs and cats- and he wears a happy smile all of the time. Flynn would be perfect for a family or an older couple who may need an easily managed pet.  (posted 4/8/23, RMc)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $375 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  June 1, 2023, 1:09 pm
