Story
NAME: Bailey Sex: F Color/Pattern: black & tan Breed(s): Dachshund, Bassett hound, Chow Chow mix Weight: 36lbs Size: medium- small Coat length: med-short DOB approx: ~2012? Age at intake: ~10 yrs? Personality Bailey's favorite past time is napping. She is happy to put on a leash, and looks forward to walks, but doesnt want to go very far. She is very tolerant of all other dogs, but does let them know she is the matriarch and gets to eat first. She loves treats and is not picky. Hence her rotund physique. Crate trained and potty trained, she has a huge bladder unheard of in small breeds and can hold it long periods when she feels too lazy to go outside. She likes to explore the house and test out all possible dog beds, pillows, and furniture to rate them for nappability. She is gentle and quiet and well mannered. An easy- going, low-maintenance, good girl. Background Bailey was surrendered with her brother Blakey to Fort Worth Animal Shelter in early Nov 2022, by a relative of their former owner. Bailey and Blakey got separated at the shelter and when they called GNAR to tell them that Blakey was registered to the rescue organization, they neglected to mention Bailey! Blakey had been adopted from GNAR back in 2018, but Bailey was an unknown. So GNAR volunteers went back for her and picked her up 2 days after Blakey. They look so much alike, but the shelter says her microchip was originally given by Ftw animal control and was unregistered. She didnt even have her name recorded at the time they were dropped off. Both Bailey and Blakey have blue tongues and are middle aged, black and tan shorties. Compatibility Other Dogs - yes Cats - PROBABLY Kids - PROBABLY If you are interested in meeting me, please contact my rescue family at GNARHouston@gmail.com to arrange a visit at my foster home or local pet store!

Story
If you're looking for a calm lovebug who just wants to follow you everywhere, look no further! Rolo is an 8-year-old Basset who thinks he's just one of the humans. He has some of the Bassetiest eyes ever and, when he looks at you, you just want to give him cuddles. That works great for him because Rolo is rather low energy and would be content to simply lie on the couch with his head in your lap. He doesn’t have the best table manners and will take food off the counter if you aren’t careful, but his foster mom is working with him on only eating food out of his dish. Rolo gets along great with his foster canine brother and sister and will play with them, but given the option, will always choose to be around his humans. He's great with everyone, even the children. This sweet boy deserves the very best furever family. Could that be you? ##1657272##

Story
Snickers is a sweet senior who craves attention. He likes to sing the song of his people when he sees a deer or other critter running by. His favorite thing is belly rubs and ear scratches! Snickers can be particular about other dogs in the home, he would prefer to be the only spoiled hound! Snickers can be a bit stubborn at times, and gets a bit grumpy when startled awake from a good napping spot (who isn’t?!) Snickers is looking for a basset experienced home where he can be loved and spoiled as the only dog, and no young children. Snickers is now fully vetted, completed heartworm treatment, and is ready to adopt! ##1657271##

Elaine very  sweet, playful but little extra  energy   Elaine likes to cuddle and get belly rubs  Elaine  learns very quickly, especially if treats are involved.  Treats and praise  Elaine walks beautifully - she is a vision with his happy face and wagging tail.   Cold, rain, wind and storms - no problem.  Quiet on car rides.  Eager to please.  Elaine is very food focused   I would highly recommend he have basic and even advanced training to make sure he becomes the best dog he can be.  Elaine is almost done l with potty training and doesn't mind her  crate time. She is very healthy  and loves chewing bones .   She  plays happily in the yard as long as sameone is with her  June 2, 2023, 3:06 pm

Story
When I found this little guy, he was skin and bones and wandering but he constantly smiles! Should've called him Smiley. He is about 1.6 yrs.old. He loves soft toys that squeak, loves to play, loves to be walked on leash and is pretty good at it. He's good with my dog who's very chill. He gets a little anxious around dogs he doesn't know. He thinks my cats are for chasing, they don't care for that so, I separate them. He is very loyal, won't go far from me off leash. He's a good eater, loves his treats. My friends love him and have fun playing with him. He is sweet, wants to be a part of the activity. He's got lot of energy like a puppy. He feels safe now and likes his routine. He's wire crate trained with his blanky. He knows some commands and eager to learn. He's had all shots, neutering, and is on heartworm and flea protection. Unfortunately, on the street he got hearworms. He's being treated for that. Come and meet Buddy. HE IS SO TAIL WAG'N WORTH IT!! Lots of love in this pup❣

Story
Bugsy was adopted on July 3, 2020 at two months of age from a local couple who found him and his siblings on the streets of Houston. He is 3 years old. Bugsy is well-mannered, calm, chill, and loves to follow his owner around. You’ll often find him looking out of the window or rolling around in the grass. He is very independent and will grab toys to entertain himself but is always very eager to be with his owner and spend time with them. He loves being pet, going for walks, and being there for his owner. He hasn’t been around many dogs, besides his sister and other dogs in our family. He’s very protective of his family so we aren’t sure he’ll get along well with other dogs who are unfamiliar to him. He’s also only been around teenagers or adults—not small children. We are looking for owners who can dedicate a lot of time to Bugsy, provide him with a safe and loving home, and who do not have any kids or other pets.

Story
LET'S GO FOR A SWIM!  Est DOB 11/23/21, weight 51lb. Woof! Woof, everyone! I’m Max, a sweet, friendly, and outgoing Harrier Hound who’s perhaps mixed with a Catahoula because I have one blue eye and one brown eye. The Harrier is a larger version of its cousin the Beagle and was bred as a pack hound in England to chase hare. We’re known for our irresistibly sweet face and low-set, velvety ears, and I’ve got that Harrier look in spades. I’m a very active, playful fella who loves people of all ages, including kids, as well as other dogs. But keep cats away from me because I like to chase them (just like my prey-driven ancestors chased hare). I love to swim in the lake at the dog park as well as enthusiastically retrieve balls, sticks, or whatever you throw into the lake. I adore running, so being your jogging partner would help me burn up my energy. I’m a smart dude who’s learning commands such as “sientase” (Spanish for “sit” because my foster mom is bilingual!). I’m crate trained and still working on my potty training -- jusst read on to see why. I was adopted by a family, but when I was eight or ten months old, they dropped me off for boarding at the vet and never picked me up. Think about it – I was abandoned by the only family I’d ever known! I just kept waiting and waiting for them to show up again! I always wondered if they were overwhelmed by soaring inflation . . .  It was miserable to be an active puppy confined to a cage at the clinic for over six months. What a place to spend my first birthday – it may have been Thanksgiving, but I wasn’t very thankful . . . UNTIL my future HOPE foster mom found out about my plight and decided to spring me from my cage. She brought me home with her and promised me that she’d me find a wonderful forever home. My dreamy eyes glow with warmth and kindness, and my pleading expression will surely catch your attention. Arrange to meet me today and find out how irresistibly sweet I am! HOPE ID: D23-0211-0010 If you are interested in Max and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at HOPEDogCommittee@groups.io and a volunteer will get back to you. June 2, 2023, 11:23 am
