Meet Mahi! She loves to dance for attention and she’s so loving. She’s a dachshund or basset mix with maybe some shepherd in her. She’s about 10 months old and weighs 27 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Meet Sniffer, a 6.5-year-old, 60-pound Basset Hound Beagle mix with a heart full of love. Sniffer adores people and can't contain his excitement, wagging his tail like crazy whenever someone comes to see him.Recently, Sniffer had a large growth removed from his abdomen, and now that he's feeling better, his true personality is starting to shine. He loves pets and walks well on a leash. Sniffer enjoys his outdoor time.Sniffer prefers to have company even if you're not directly interacting with him. He loves walks and is excellent on a leash, making him a perfect walking buddy. While he tends to ignore other dogs, his focus is all on his human friends.Sniffer is ready to find a loving home where he can continue to come out of his shell and enjoy the companionship he craves.   Animal Profile: Bamboo is an estimated 4-year-old 38 lb neutered male Hawaii mixed breed (possibly Basset Hound with whippet... or something...) with the cutest stubby legs, joining us from Hawaii to Seattle area foster care on Tuesday July 9th. Bummer he has some fire ant damage to his right eye but his vision is not affected. This boy is wiggly but happy to go on walks and breezes right by barking dogs in kennels. He needs training on leash but is not reactive, wanted to chase a cat on intro but was easily called away, and rides well in a car. He did excellent for vet exams -- easy to handle and no resource guarding shown. He loves a kiddie pool and has a nice play style with other dogs and super friendly to all people. He would like other dogs who can tolerate some chasing and tumbling. More info to come as we get to know him in foster care.  Foster Update:  Bamboo is such a friendly pup! He wants to meet everyone he comes in contact with and is happy if he can give them a lick or a hug. He is energetic and athletic and loves long walks and even runs–amazing with those cute stubby legs! He will need continued work on his leash skills as he is quite a puller, especially when he encounters a squirrel or other small creature. Bamboo is crate and potty trained. He settles well in the house, but prefers to spend his time next to, or on top of, his people. Be prepared for a somewhat oversized lap dog if you are interested in adopting this snuggly guy!  Bamboo is gentle and doing well with the toddler in his foster home, though given his energy level will probably be best with kids who are used to having a dog around. He is friendly with other dogs, but doesn’t seem all that interested in playing so far. We think he would be fine as an only dog or with another pup to run around and get his energy out. This friendly guy will make a great addition to an active family willing to put in little leash training time. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Once we receive it a volunteer will be in contact with you via email.  This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cin c innati, Lexington KY,     or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225   . We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.
