Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Pops finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Pops | ~7 y/o Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Beagle Mix | World-Class Snuggler Pops is a 48-pound bundle of sweetness who’s equal parts hiking buddy and cuddle champion. Around the house, he’s calm and easygoing, perfectly content to snooze at your feet or curl up under the covers at bedtime, where he’ll happily burrow into pillows and blankets. When it’s adventure time, Pops comes alive—he has the stamina for long hikes, energetic runs, and spirited play sessions, and he thrives with about 1–2 hours of activity each day. This boy is almost fully house-trained and excellent about letting you know when it’s time to go outside—he’ll whine, nudge, or wait patiently by the door. Pops knows a few commands like “sit,” “down,” and “wait,” and he’s working on leash manners. Walks can be stressful for him at times, especially when other dogs, people, or wheeled objects pass by, so his adopter should be prepared to continue his training and provide consistent structure. With patience and guidance, Pops has great potential to become a relaxed, confident walking companion. Pops adores other dogs, especially in off-leash settings, and he’s happiest when making new friends at the dog park. He sometimes barks—whether from excitement or anxiety—but has never shown aggression. At home, he’s quiet, affectionate, and a loyal shadow who loves to be near his person. He’s also a fan of toys, bones, car rides, and peanut butter-stuffed Kongs. The ideal home for Pops will be active and structured, with someone who enjoys outdoor adventures as much as he does. Because of his strength and occasional reactivity, an adopter experienced with handling bigger dogs would be best. Pops hasn’t been tested with cats or children, but he seems open and friendly to all people he meets. With his affectionate nature, playful spirit, and snuggle-loving heart, Pops is ready to be both your adventure partner and your bedtime companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! Story
Skippy is a young mystery mix with the biggest ears. He is around 15lbs, probably between 1-2 years old, and colored like a beagle though his bouncy steps have us thinking that he might be mixed with some sort of terrier or chihuahua too.  Squeaky toys are his favorite, and he loves to play with the dogs in his foster home.  He loves treats and attention, and wags so hard that his butt will wiggle back and forth too. He is a great companion, happy to follow his foster mom around the house, and enjoys curling up in a bed or on the couch in the evening. Skippy was found as a stray in Texas, but his owners declined to reclaim him, so he hitched a ride to Colorado to find his forever home. He is potty trained, though continue positive reinforcement is always recommended in a new home.  He walks well on a leash and is crate trained. He might bark a little at first but quickly settles down for a nap. He does love to play chase so is not recommended to a home with cats, but he would be ok in a home with respectful kids 10+.  He loves to wrestle with the younger dogs in his foster home and is also respectful of the older dogs too.  He is very affectionate and is ready to find his new BFF. If you are interested in meeting Skippy the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms  We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Skippy is neutered, UTD on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $375 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.October 2, 2025, 8:05 pm

Story
Ace has been living in a rural shelter in Wortham, Texas, for about a month. Unfortunately Ace, and all the animals at the shelter, have little prospects as the shelter does little to no adoptions. There is a small group of individuals in Wortham that work tirelessly to network (and vet, on a very limited budget) these animals to foster-based rescues in and out of Texas that are willing to consider them. Red Fern was contacted by one of these volunteers who together with her high school daughter, go to the holding facility every day to walk the dogs, socialize them, take them to the vet, and just spend quality time with them. Ace was an owner surrender from a home that had domestic violence issues and has been at the shelter a short time. He loves to run, play and get zoomies. He loves attention and kids. He does fine on a leash. He is a picky eater and struggles in a crate.  Good with other dogs? Yes  Cats? No Kids? Yes Potty trained? No  Crate trained? Does not do well in a crate  Leash trained? Yes  Special needs? He just needs his person.  Ace is still living in the rural Wortham, Texas shelter until we can secure a committed adopter or foster to welcome him into their Colorado home. Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2538010##

Story
Jack Jack is a 5-month-old, 30-pound lab mix with a gentle nature and a quick mind. He’s eager to learn and listens well; a simple “no” is usually all it takes to redirect him.  He’s crate trained, spending the night and short daytime stretches comfortably in his crate, and he’s house trained with no accidents at his foster home. Jack Jack enjoys his walks and does well on leash, only getting excited when he spots a squirrel or bunny.  This sweet boy loves being outside, playing fetch, and relaxing near his people. He would thrive in a home where he can keep learning, exploring, and being part of the family. If you’re ready for a well-mannered, loving young pup, Jack Jack would love to meet you! ##2536482##

Story
Meet Coco — your sweet, spirited adventure buddy! Coco is a young Beagle/Hangin’ Tree mix with a big heart and a nose that never stops sniffing. She came to us from Kansas a little underweight, but she’s thriving now with her love of food, sniffing games, and puzzle feeders. Smart and curious, Coco quickly picked up “sit” and “down” and comes running when called. She loves walks, toys, and exploring — but after a good romp, she’s happiest cuddled up with her humans or dog friends. She’s crate-trained, mostly quiet, and sleeps through the night. Coco gets along great with other dogs, gave a respectful hello to the resident cat, and has been gentle around kids. Like many pups, she’s still working on leash manners and learning to share space at mealtime, but with structure and consistency, she’ll keep shining. Coco is affectionate, playful, and full of joy — she even gives the cutest hugs! She’ll thrive in an active home where she can keep her clever nose busy and her heart full. Want to meet Coco? She’s ready to bring endless smiles, snuggles, and adventures into your life. ##2533854##
