We rescued Honey from Riverdale Animal Shelter in Brighton in April 2022 at 6 months old. She’s very sweet and loves attention. Honey has enjoyed lots of physical activity and physical and mental stimulation. Honey has been the only dog at home until recently and would thrive again as the only dog in a home. Honeys love for everyone sometimes makes her forget she’s a midsize dog and she doesn’t know how big or strong she is sometimes and would need a patient home with older, no kids, or that’s willing to train with her for future kids. A new dog was introduced to our home and honey has displayed short bouts of aggression and resource guarding, and because of that and the toddlers we have in our home, Honey, needs a home more suited to providing her the best quality of life and care possible.

We can't talk about Stitch without first telling his mother's story. Poor pregnant Myrtle was caught as a stray on the streets of San Antonio and tragically found herself on the ACS (San Antonio Animal Care Services) euthanasia list. On the day she was supposed to be euthanized, a miracle happened and she gave birth, giving her additional time to be rescued. Her pup Stitch has a wonderful temperament and is super sweet! He is energetic, loves toys, chases balls, and is wonderful with other dogs and kids too! He would benefit from an active lifestyle and would enjoy play dates with other pups. Stitch is housebroken and crate-trained as well and just an all-around friendly pup!    Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2669152##

Hi. I'm Bill the Beagle. I'm a sweet boy. I sometimes take some time to get acquainted with other dogs, but once I do - all I want to do is play, play, play. I'm also special. You see, I have heartworms. Polk County Humane Society will pay for the treatment, but I'll need to have some special care for a few months (antibiotics, steriod pills, injections) and I'll need to be kept relatively calm after my treatments. I will be worth it and I'd even love it if you'd foster me during my treatment period. The injections will likely need to be done in Bolivar, MO, so might require 3 trips to the vet there. Just to keep in mind if you think I might be the best beagle in the world for you. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2815464##
