Story
Melody is a lively, affectionate Beagle who came to us with Mikey and Melody. Her foster in Virginia says that she is a joy to have around as she gets comfortable with living in his home and with his Jack Russell. Melody enjoys her walks, does well on leash, and likes to nap in the sun. In a new setting, a structured routine is reassuring for her and will help her settle in. She does enjoy hanging out with another dog, but would be okay as an only dog wth an attentive owner. Melody likes attention and at times will seek petting and being held. She is largely housebroken if kept on a routine, and sleeps well through the night on her dog bed. Melody is about 6 yrs old and weighs about 23 lbs. Arriving in late February. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely yesGood with kids: Yes, dog-savvy childrenCrate trained: MostlyHouse trained: YesTracker is loyal, loving, curious, and always happiest when he’s with his people. This handsome boy loves to explore and (true to his name) track squirrels or rabbits, but he’s also happy to entertain himself inside. Tracker is looking for a family that’s familiar with hunting breeds and will help him feel safe and comfortable in his new environment.Tracker sometimes gets shy, especially in loud or boisterous settings, and hopes his new family will advocate for him to take introductions to new people at his own speed. Once he’s had a chance to get comfortable, he is ready for snuggles from anyone with an open lap! Tracker has done great with the kids he’s met and would likely do well with dog-savvy kids of any age who know to let him approach them for play or cuddles. He adores other dogs and would love to have a confident canine sibling to look up to and play with.Tracker has done very well with his crate training. He settles in quickly, and with consistency and encouragement he’ll perfect his crate skills in no time. Tracker is house trained and will go to the door to alert. He walks well on his leash and enjoys going for strolls. Like any hunting dog, Tracker has a “hunt” mode, but he’s been working hard to learn to redirect and focus even when there’s a squirrel taunting him. He has been learning “back,” “sit,” and “wait,” and this smart boy does well with the mental stimulation of training.Tracker is an easygoing boy who is ready to sniff his way into his forever home. Is there room on your couch for him? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org. Story
Rambo is an owner surrender from the south. He may have been a failed hunting dog. This friendly boy is about 2 years old and 23 lbs. He can be a bit timid and skittish, but is good with dogs and kids of all ages. Rambo's ideal home would be quiet and have a fenced in yard. This sweet little guy is vocal, medium energy, and crate-trained. Rambo is epileptic and will need to be on medication for the rest of his life. Medication will not completely resolve the seizures. The goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of them. Rambo is expected to arrive in MA by mid-March.
