Winnie is a gentle 13-year-old beagle mix we adopted from a Birmingham, AL shelter when she was 10, and she has been a truly special part of our family. She is incredibly sweet, loves being around people, and is happiest curled up nearby or napping in a cozy spot. She rarely barks unless she's excited to greet you and has a calm, affectionate presence. Winnie is house trained and has always done well with a consistent routine. She is not crate trained (and has never needed to be). At this stage she enjoys a slower pace; short walks 1-2 times per day and plenty of time to relax. As our home has become busier with a now-mobile infant, we feel Winnie would be much more comfortable in a quieter home without small children. This has been a very difficult decision, and our hope is simply to find her a peaceful place to enjoy her senior years feeling safe, loved, and right at someone's side. She truly is a wonderful companion.

Rollie was surrendered after his owner died. He had never lived inside until he came into rescue. He is now house and crate trained. He does love to run and play and hide his bones outside. He had very little socialization with other dogs and is a little dog selective (prefers females more than males). He's more of a loner than most. He has always been crated inside to avoid the mischief a beagle tends to get into with chewing items he isn't supposed to be chewing. It is more for his safety of not swallowing anything harmful. He will bark to let you know when he needs to go potty. He has been completely vetted. He deserves a home of his own to retire in and enjoy the rest of his life. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. Please let me know if you have any questions. This 3-year-old, 30 lb gentle soul came into the shelter as a stray, and the noisy, overwhelming environment has left him feeling scared and unsure. But underneath that fear is a very sweet boy who just wants to feel safe. Rich enjoys soft, gentle pets and will lean in quietly for affection once he realizes you mean him no harm. He may startle easily right now, but that’s simply because the shelter is a frightening place for a sensitive dog. Despite everything, Rich is dog friendly and walks well on a leash, showing that he truly has the potential to be a wonderful companion once he’s given time to decompress in a calm home. What Rich needs most is patience, kindness, and someone willing to give him the chance to build confidence and trust. Dogs like Rich often blossom beautifully once they are out of the shelter and feel safe again. Right now, though, Rich’s time is running out.
