Story
Meet Bill 🐶 — a 3-year-old, 24-pound Beagle who’s mastered the art of being happy wherever his people are.Bill quickly learned the playground rules and can mesh with other dogs, but he’s just as content hanging out with people. Whether he’s nearby while you go about your day or stretched out in the comfiest spot he can find, Bill knows how to relax and enjoy the moment. He’s very treat-motivated (food is definitely his love language), and dinner time might be his favorite part of the day—except, of course, for a nice walk. With his gentle nature, easygoing personality, and love for both companionship and comfort, Bill is the kind of dog who fits right in and makes a house feel like home. 🐾💙 Did you know that when you adopt from the Maggie Society, your new family member comes with two copies of vet records. All Maggie dogs are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention prior to adoption. Your adoption fee goes towards the vetting of another dog or puppy in need. If interested in adopting, please complete an application. An approved application from The Maggie Society is valid for up to one year. It is not necessary to complete additional applications for dogs or puppies of interest if you have already been approved. Please reach out to the Maggie Society or your adoption counselor for a meet and greet!

Story
(DOB 01/15/2025) Raisin is a super friendly, happy-go-lucky pup who has truly never met a stranger. Whether it’s people, other dogs, or the guy delivering your packages, Raisin is convinced everyone is a new best friend. He attends doggie daycare often and has energy to spare, keeping up easily with all his buddies. Raisin thrives with canine companions and would enjoy a fenced yard to zoom around in, but he’s flexible! He can be an only dog and doesn’t require a fenced yard as long as his people are committed to giving him fun ways to burn off that joyful energy like daily walks, play sessions, daycare, toys, or simply time spent by your side all make him one happy Raisin. He’s working on his leash manners and will need someone willing to practice with him, but he loves car rides, adventures, and being part of whatever his people are doing. He’s also crate trained, which makes downtime and routines easy. Raisin gets along great with kids, though his enthusiasm makes him best suited for families with older, sturdier kiddos. We aren't sure about cats because he hasn't had an opportunity to meet any at this time. If you’re looking for a cheerful, social, and energetic companion, Raisin is the perfect pup for an awesome family! As part of Raisin’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Raisin, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2594280##

Story
(DOB 11/02/2025) Due to Rambo’s young age, he has not been neutered yet. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within a 1-hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Rambo is quite possibly the cutest puppy you will ever see, wrapped up in floppy ears, soulful hound eyes, and nonstop charm. This little guy is a classic hound through and through, and his future family will ideally be familiar with beagles or hounds, as Rambo brings all the energy, curiosity, and personality the breeds is known for. Rambo is a happy, playful, social butterfly who truly believes playtime should happen all of the time. He loves people, adores other dogs, and thrives on attention, pets, and praise. Toys are his jam; squeakers, chew toys, stuffed toys; you name it, he’s in. Even better, he shares his toys nicely, making him a joy during group play. He’s energetic, food motivated, a little clumsy, delightfully mischievous, and yes…talkative, because no self-respecting hound keeps all those opinions to himself. Because of his energy and antics, Rambo needs a secure 4’+ fenced yard where he can safely romp, zoom, and play with his two-and four-legged friends. A home with the time, patience, and commitment to ongoing training is a must as he grows into his houndy self. He’s doing very well with structured potty training and will need someone home most of the day; he’s simply too young to be left alone all day while the family works or goes to school. At night, Rambo sleeps in a crate and does a great job settling down after a few minutes. He currently wakes once during the night, takes a quick potty break and then heads right back to sleep like a champ. He will grow out of the mid-evening potty breaks as he gets older. Young puppies are wonderfully adaptable, and Rambo is no different. He is currently taking cues from the other dogs and cats in his foster home. For this reason, we do require at least one other playful and confident dog in the home for Rambo to bond, play, learn and grow up with! With gentle introductions and a cat that is open to adjusting, puppies typically do very well living with feline friends. Puppies are still learning about the world and can be bouncy, mouthy, and full of joyful energy. For this reason, homes with very young children may find the puppy stage a bit challenging. With loving adult supervision at all times, puppies and children can learn to grow together safely and happily. If you’re ready for hound humor, puppy energy, and endless entertainment, and you have the space, time, and love to guide him as he grows, Rambo is ready to fill your home with laughter, love, and a whole lot of tail wags. As part of Rambo’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Rambo, you can complete an application online for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2621422##

Story
Porthos is a 8 year old Beagle who is sweet but very scared - he has obviously been mistreated by humans, so we are going slowly with him to gain his trust. He will need compassionate and loving humans to help him get over his fear. HOWEVER - he loves, loves dogs. They are validating for him and he will need a home with dogs to loosen him up. He doesn't seem interested in cats, but does love dog friends! Porthos is hw-, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. **Extra bonus points if you get his name reference!** To adopt Porthos, please go to apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Looking for an adorable, laid-back companion? Waylon is your guy! He is easy going, friendly, and easy to please. Regular meals, some bones to chew on, a lap to curl up in (he is a world-class snuggler), and belly rubs are all this older gentleman desires. In return he will be your loyal, loving best friend forever. He quickly settled in with his foster family's four big dogs and bonded with their people. While he will occasionally follow and play with the other dogs, he mostly prefers doing his own thing and being near his person. He's a good boy that does well in his crate and enjoys going for walks. He does need a little time to adjust to a new home and surroundings (who doesn't?! :), so he would love a patient forever family that keeps him on a bathroom routine while he gets comfortable. If that's you, consider opening your home to give sweet Waylon the good life he deserves!

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE ONLY FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Meet Kellam, a gentle young beagle mix with the softest long ears and an incredibly sweet soul. When she first arrived in foster care, she was quite shy, but she has truly blossomed. These days, she frolics in the yard, bounces with joy, and happily squeaks her toys like it’s her favorite pastime. She adores people she knows and will gladly roll onto her back for belly rubs once she feels comfortable. Kellam can be timid with new people at first, but she’s learning to warm up more quickly every week. She has even met her foster’s neighbors’ young children (under 8) and, while a little cautious, was very sweet and allowed them to pet her without much introduction. Her sweetness level is truly off the charts — she’s an avid snuggler who loves sleeping next to you or curling up in the last warm spot you left. Her activity level sits on the higher end of medium. Kellam absolutely loves to play with her foster siblings, happily matching a rough-and-tumble play style when invited, but she’s just as content dialing it back with a gentler playmate. She also enjoyed a four-mile hike with friends and, once her energy is out, is perfectly content to nap for the rest of the afternoon. Kellam does wonderfully with other animals. She’s curious about cats but has never barked at or chased them, and she’s politely submissive with the resident dog. While she doesn’t always need to play, she coexists peacefully and confidently in a multi-pet home. She has not had a single accident in her crate and is learning the basics of leash walking. Loud, sudden noises can spook her, especially in busier neighborhoods, and she tends to prefer the safety of being indoors. She’s more confident when walking with her canine buddies and continues to improve every week. While she’s still polishing her house-training skills, she does seem to understand basic “gotta go” signals. A home with a fenced yard or easy access to quiet, low-traffic nature trails would make her transition much smoother. With her quiet nature (she hardly ever barks), gentle heart, and loving personality, Kellam will thrive in a patient, kind home willing to give her the time she needs to settle in. She’s an absolutely delightful lady who is sure to complete one very lucky family.
