Story
Howdy, I'm Roxy Jolene, a gentle soul with a knack for silliness. Sweet as I am, I still manage to find myself in peculiar places, like the shelter. Remember, I am a beagle, and the nose of a beagle (or any hound for that matter) can lead to trouble. It's probably my nose that caused me to stray and become a resident of the local shelter. Fortunately fo rme, a rescue team came along and bailed me out. I'm all about the love, folks. Adopt me and I promise to work more with common sense than with sense of smell. Beware though, I am just endless affection and a dash of my delightful goofiness! So, Come get me!If interested in adopting, please complete an application. An approved application from The Maggie Society is valid for up to one year. It is not necessary to complete additional applications for dogs or puppies of interest if you have already been approved. Please reach out to the Maggie Society or your adoption counselor for a meet and greet!

Story
BONDED PAIR. Needs to be adopted together to a home without pets. They are dog aggressive and scared of cats. Jax (GSP) has chronic ear infections and needs regular vet visits. Rubin (beagle) needs to continue to be on a diet to lose weight (he used to be severely obese, medicated food is encouraged.) They are very loving dogs and require a lot of physical attention and activity. They are very protective over their people and family. They have been the best dogs for me, I just cannot continue to financially support them. I’m not looking for any money, just the right home for my boys.

Story
This sweet girl was fostered from what seemed to be a bad situation. While fostering her, she spent most of her time in an open-door crate, finding comfort there. Within the week, this sweet girl was venturing into the room and eventually started wagging her tail more often. She will require lots and lots of love in the beginning. She is easily startled and will rush to her crate for comfort. She LOVES the fenced backyard and taking leashed walks by ponds. She walks well on a leash but will stop in her tracks if she does not want to go in a specific direction. Her tail is often tucked when she walks, but she calms down after going to familiar spots. She seems to be house-trained, had no accidents, and can go many hours without using the bathroom. She does not bark in her crate or in general. She has interacted with our two dogs, which has gone well, and she seems to be more scared of children in the beginning. She is a low-maintenance sweet pup who just needs lots and lots of love.

Story
Say hello to Orca! Her love for her family is deep, like the ocean, and this sweet girl promises she won't make too many waves in your household. Orca is a young adult female hound mix who has been with us as our foster for about ten months and has improved so much! She is house-trained, walks well on a leash, and is fully crate-trained. She is a very smart dog - but she does need to be crated if she is left unsupervised for any period of time, or she will make her fun that can result in some things being chewed up. She likes her crate and will go inside to relax or hang out. She loves toys and chewy bones and loves for you to chase her around the yard with a toy, too! She hasn't quite got the idea of fetch yet. Orca says her ideal match will have a canine playmate for her to romp with as she feels more comfortable with another dog in the home, and she loves cats as well! A fenced-in yard is recommended for her in order to experience her "Zoomies" in all their glory. She is shy at first and requires time, patience, and a calm individual to win her over, but she's worth it. She is a "Velcro dog" once you win her over, and you will have a devoted companion who thinks she fits perfectly in your lap on the couch. She loves outside and does best with adults, but she has not really been around children. Interested in adopting Orca? Head over to hsecarolina.org to apply today!

Story
Ju has updated rabies shot and recently visited the vet for an exam. Ju has a non life threatening fatty tumor on her belly. It is often looked at during vet visits. Ju is a sweet beagle. Her personality adapts to yours. She can be lazy or playful. It depends on her company. She does get attached. I recommend a country setting for a rehome. She gets upset when left alone. Her original owner did not tell me that fact. Original owner left out the fatty tumor too. I'm being honest so there are no surprises. I'm trying my best to avoid a shelter. I'm moving and pets are not welcome. I want what's best for Juno...love, care, attention, and a healthy home environment.

Story
Shelby is a 3-year-old sweet, gentle beagle mix. She was found as a pregnant stray and is almost ready to hang up her mama's hat. She will be ready for her new home starting June 30th. Shelby is timid and sudden noises startle her. She will need some time to adjust to her new home and feel safe. She has been fine with cats and dogs but has shown no interest in playing. Due to her timid nature, young children may be too much for her. She is your typical beagle with following her nose and investigating everything. She is highly food motivated so that will be helpful with training. If you are looking for a very sweet, gentle, submissive dog who will look to you as her protector, Shelby may be the dog for you.

Story
Baxter is THE sweetest boy! As a senior dog, his energy and outside needs (long walks are not needed) are low but he truly enjoys just rolling around in the grass and sitting in the backyard...as long as you're close. Baxter likes to be attached to you at all times. If you move, he moves right on with ya. He insists on many snuggles and constant love. So if you're someone who likes to sit on the couch with a furry companion, he's the dog for you! He will walk up to anyone and demand pets and no one can resist his charms. In true beagle fashion, he's quite stubborn.... he'll get up to move when he decides to! He's a great eater and will happily stare at you non-stop if you're trying to eat. He WILL cry when you leave the house but not for long and he will sing you a beautiful song of joy upon your return!
