Story
Meet Vance — A true head-turner with a heart as big as his paws! This 1-year-old neutered male Beauceron/Shepherd mix is a striking sight at 57 pounds and promises to be a magnificent adult when fully mature. He arrived at Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/6 as a stray and has charmed everyone with his happy, easy-going spirit. Vance is endlessly curious, exploring every inch of his surroundings with a wagging tail that rarely takes a break. He’s highly treat-motivated and shows off his eagerness by giving a little hop before sitting politely for his reward. Friendly, well-mannered, and affectionate, his gentle nature shines through in every interaction. This big-hearted boy may already be housetrained and can pull a bit on a leash with excitement. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs. Vance is searching for a rescue partner. His combination of intelligence, sweetness, and striking presence makes him an outstanding candidate for adoption or foster placement. Let’s work together to give Vance the second chance he deserves—he’s ready to thrive in a loving, attentive home!

Story
Duchess was in a small, high-kill shelter when we came across her information. Her eyes were so infected that she could not open them, and the shelter had posted her as being blind. Our vet discovered that Duchess doesn’t produce tears, and the chronic dry eye had been untreated for so long that her corneas were damaged and infected. This sweet girl was initially so shut down that she had to remind herself what a special dog she is. We are trying our best to save her eyes; she gets two types of medicated drops twice a day and artificial tears as often as possible. She has learned to let her foster clean her eyes and is good about getting her drops. She is now able to see, although not as well as we hope she will as we progress. She will need eye drops ongoing. Duchess now plays with the other dogs in her foster home and enjoys running around her yard. Her very favorite thing is getting attention and spending time with her humans. She wants to devote herself entirely to her family and take care of them. This girl is a wonderful Doberman and an ambassador for the breed. She is house trained, can use a doggie door, or ask to go outside if she doesn't have one. She is fine being left home alone or with her canine friends, but would rather go wherever her human is going. She’s great at going for rides and would be the perfect travel companion. Duchess is fully vetted, current with vaccines, spayed, on flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

Story
Nova was born on 01/10/2026 from an accidental litter. Her family reached out to Legacy Humane Society for assistance in finding her and her sister new homes. Their Mom has been spayed, and the pups are also spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and on heartworm prevention. Their adoption fee is $325. Nova knows how to sit and shake on command. She loves belly rubs, playing fetch and eating watermelon.  Puppies require someone with lots of time and patience to raise them to be the best dogs they can be. They will do well with dogs, cats and kids. Since puppies don't have all of their manners yet, they may be too much for toddlers and very young children. If you're interested in meeting them, please apply online and we'll be in touch: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. He loves to be around people and is kind of obsessed with playing ball...lol. He shakes hands, sits, and stays most of the time...lol. He will walk on a leash, but honestly has not done it a lot.
