Cookie is 1-2 year old Rottweiler/Lab mix that weighs 68 pounds. She was surrendered on 6/18 along with three other dogs due to the health of the owner. Her surrender form stated that she was an indoor dog and is housebroken. It also states that she gets along with children, dogs and cats. She’s very attractive with a glossy coat and a curly tail. It looks like she’s been well taken care of. She would explore the yard and then come back and either sit by me or stand and look over the wall. There was another dog walking outside the gate, and she became very excited. It was obvious she wanted to make friends. She’s very sociable, friendly, spunky, sweet and affectionate. She occasionally jumps on you but just occasionally. She walks okay on a leash. She did her business when she got out into the yard. She would love to get out and play outside or go for walks and then come in to spend family time with her new family.

Dallas has quite the story. We found him wandering near a dog park in Downtown Dallas with nothing but a bowl of water beside him. He was shy, timid, and unsure of the world around him. We brought him home to foster, and little by little he began to come out of his shell. Once he realized he was safe, his goofy personality started to shine. He became best friends with our dog, loves playing with other pups, and has turned into the ultimate cuddle bug. Dallas is sweet, affectionate, and happiest when he’s with his people. If he could live in your skin, he probably would. He just wants to be loved, played with, and part of a family. If you’re looking for a loyal, funny, snuggly best friend, Dallas is your guy.

Hi! I adopted Princess a few months ago from DAS. She’s super sweet and calm. She’s an old lady (almost 9), loves people, and she’s really curious. Princess is a great company for anyone who is looking for a first time pet, she knows potty time, and as long as there is a treat she will do anything. Super well behaved, she has never ripped off any of my clothes or furniture, she just loves to chill. Princess has been great company for me. Unfortunately, due to my health situation I can’t keep her. I’m looking for someone who can give lots of love to Princess, but most importantly someone who actually cares about pups.

Hendrix is a 3 to 4 year old 60 pound neutered Boxer/Bull Mastiff mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/29. He’s got a black but graying snout and his eyes speak to you. To me they seem to be saying “I’ve had a hard life so far. I’m a good boy and I deserve better.” He is curious as he investigated the yard. He’s active, spry, bashful, and very, very sweet. He needed a brushing and was very patient when I brushed him. He warmed up to me with TLC and a few treats thrown in! He walks very well on a leash. He did his business as soon as he got into the yard, and it appeared as though he may have saved it. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He’s deserving of a family that will treat him like royalty…that will take him for walks and exercise and then spoil him with cuddles on the couch!

Brandy is unique and that she has one ear that stands up and one that lays down. This gives her character. She’s actually quite cute. She is a 4-year-old 46 pound boxer mix that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/24 as a stray. She has rich brown coloring, a shiny coat, big brown eyes and is adorable! She is very alert. She has a moderate activity level. She’s calm and gentle. She sits for treats and takes them gently. She’s really a sweet girl with a loving nature. She walked OK on a leash. She showed no interest in the other dogs barking a her, yet we do always ask if you have another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. She would like to be your lifelong companion. She says it’s OK to be outside briefly in a secured yard, but wants to be an inside pup, where its cool and comfy, being close to her humans.
