Story
Hunk is definitely living up to his name! This energetic boy is always ready for a game, a new adventure, or an opportunity to put his clever brain to work. He loves his toys, especially the ones that challenge him to think, and would thrive with a family that`s excited to keep both his body and mind busy. Whether he`s heading out for a walk, exploring a new trail, or settling in with an engaging puzzle toy, Hunk is happiest when he has something fun to do. He would be an excellent companion for an active family looking for a playful partner to join them on walks, hikes, outdoor adventures, and everything in between. As a young, energetic dog, Hunk is still learning how to play politely and express his excitement with good manners. Because of this, we are requiring that any children in his new home are age 10 or older so they can understand and respect his playful nature. Hunk may also do well with another dog in his new home after a slow and thoughtful introduction. If you`re looking for a smart, energetic companion with a big personality and a serious talent for having fun, Hunk is ready to join your team!Adoption Price: $150

Story
Monet is a sweet Belgian Malinois and Great Pyrenees mix. She was born around 4/2/2025 and currently weighs around 60 lbs. She is medium to high energy and is still very much a puppy. Monet had some type of injury to her tail as a young puppy which causes her to leak urine at times especially overnight. Her foster home manages this by having her sleep on pee pads at night. During the day when she is inside the house she wears a diaper. She is on medication which seems to help with the urine leaking. She enjoys being outside but she is not an outdoor only dog and wants to be with her people most of the time. Monet is loyal, affectionate, playful and smart. She loves romping around the yard with her dog buddies, playing chase and wrestling. She enjoys her stuffed toys and chewing on her bully sticks and other chewy bones and toys. She likes going for walks, swimming and hiking. She becomes quite bonded to her humans and will happily follow her people around the house and yard most of the day. She is an alert barker and loves a large yard so no apartments for her. Monet is crate trained, walks politely on a leash and knows basic commands. She currently lives with dogs of various sizes and seems to do best with medium and large dogs. She also lives with dog savvy cats but will challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. She would likely be too rambunctious for young children so only dog savvy, respectful children over 12 are recommended. Monet would do best in a home with a large yard and another young, active dog to romp around with and keep her company when her humans are away from home. An active family who wants to include her in daily activities would be ideal. She likely would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours. Monet is a sweet young dog who will keep you laughing with her silly antics. She is a joy to foster and is patiently waiting for her forever home. Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

Story
"Lulu" is an approx 60-lb, 2-yo spayed female Belgian Malinois mix who is super-affectionate, energetic and playful. She might be described as a firecracker--she has that fun, explosive kind of personality! Lulu is healthy, up-to-date on core vaccinations and microchipped. Lulu is an absolute sweetie with people, both those she knows and strangers as well. I have not observed Lulu around children yet, but I'm pretty sure she'll be fine with most kids. My only reservation is that Lulu still likes to jump up on me when she's excited, and this would be a problem for some kids. Lulu simply needs a little more training to overcome her jumping habit. Lulu is fantastic with other dogs, and in fact, I'd really like to see her go to a home with another young, playful dog so that she'll have a playmate with whom to burn off some of her considerable energy. She'd be fine with both a male or a submissive female. (See elsewhere on this page for a video of Lulu playing with Gretchen, a 3-yo female Norwegian Elkhound mix.) I have not observed Lulu around cats but I doubt that she will be good with them given her high energy level and the known prey drive of Belgian Malinois. Lulu is completely housetrained and non-destructive in the house (at least in the presence of other dogs). She is good on leash and has excellent off-leash recall. She's smart as a whip, which is characteristic of the Belgian Malinois breed. She's also fairly headstrong, which is more characteristic of the Terrier breed. For example, when Lulu is on my bed and I ask her to move, she will ignore me initially until I repeat myself a little louder--sometimes more than twice. Lulu appears to have received some basic obedience training, as she immediately sits on command. Lulu does have one behavioral drawback and that's her ability to scale fences. She can easily go over a 6-ft chain link fence. I'm not sure about a 6-ft wood fence, but if it has cross-rails facing towards the year, she'd probably be able to use them to scale the fence. Lulu will go right over the 6-ft chain link fence in a separate yard I've tried to keep her in previously, but she does NOT go over the 5-ft wire fence nor the 6-ft chain link fence surrounding my property. She simply wants to be with the pack, and I'm pretty sure she would not try to jump a 6-ft fence when left in the company of a compatible dog. Lulu loves to go for car rides and is a very good passenger. She loves to play fetch and to play tug-of-war. She can get a little mouthy when she gets really excited, but nothing out-of-control. GSRSV rescued Lulu from the animal shelter in Wasco, CA, on 11-13-25. She had been brought to the shelter as a stray in August of this year and was nearing euthanasia when I rescued her. Lulu is located in Pleasant Grove, CA. Her adoption fee is $300.

Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - Strand Hardware Store 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. All of our dogs are in foster homes and not in one single kennel location.  Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once. Kolton is a handsome four-year-old Belgian Malinois. He came from a shelter, so not much is known about his past. While it seems, he wasn't offered much training in the past, he is absolutely a quick learner. He has learned all the basics and continues to pick up more every day. He loves riding in the car and sticking his nose out the window to smell every scent the world has to offer. His other favorite thing in life is cuddling up and sleeping next to his person. He is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate all night long. He is a high energy boy and a bit of a Mexican jumping bean. He is exceptionally athletic and will need to be with somebody who will continue to provide him with the daily exercise and training that he enjoys. Kolton will do well with an active person who is always on to the next adventure. Level 3 Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. Additional Adoption Information For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state. Puppy Requirements We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy or email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information. Thank you for visiting! August 27, 2026, 9:49 pm
