Story

Stary was rescued at the 11th hour right before she was scheduled to be put down. This girl now has a second chance at life and we can't wait to find her forever family. Stary is estimated to be about 10 months old and is about 45 pounds and still has some growing to do. She has puppy energy, but is very polite and takes treats gently and is already learning commands! She seems to be friendly with dogs, but has not yet been tested with cats. She is treat motivated and was already mastering "sit" in the first 20 minutes! She gazes deep into your eyes and just wants to love and be loved. This little angel is currently staying at 2 Hands 4 Paws to get her leg back to normal! The shelter thinks she has some hariline fratures, possibly from being hit by a car, but you would never know it with the way she moves around. We are going to get her healed and taken care of and would love to schedule meet-and-greets for her future family. ##1972314##

Story

Boy oh boy, did we score when we said yes to rescuing Sergio from a very high kill shelter in Kern County. Turns out he was an absolute staff favorite and was being networked heavily. This boy is so happy go lucky, super sweet and playful. he is still a puppy and is inquisitive and happy about everything. Sergio loves other dogs, walks well on a leash and is a great cuddle. He would do great in an active family and would love opportunities to play with other doggie friends. He weighs 60 pounds. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. 3 1/2 year old female Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix About 75 lbs she's very timid, submissive, and shy. She LOVES all dogs no matter their size and always wants to play with all of them. She loves parks but will run away playing if it's not an enclosed park.She's very afraid of men but with patience she'll get used to him.Once she knows you're her person she'll sit on your feet and let you pet her. She knows some commands like sit, spin and shake hands. She had some leash training and walks well using the Gentle Leader. She'll do well with another dog as a companion for when you're not home. We don't have cats so we can't say how she would behave around them. She's very active and needs an active lifestyle. She needs at least 30 mins of walking everyday, or some other activities. She has mild kidney disease but she only requires special food. We'll gladly provide a month's prescription kibble, wet food and treats to the happy new owners.

FOSTER/ADOPT STRONGHEART *courtesy post for the amazing staff who saved his life This 5 year old baby is a victim of abuse He was dropped off at Ohana veterinary clinic to be euthanized by his “owners”.  It was all admitted to the vet that the husband of the household was an abusive alcoholic and would come home and act aggressive toward him and the wife. He would kick this sweet boy repeatedly. The wife said that when her husband would beat her, Strongheart would try to protect her…leading to him getting the brunt of the husband’s rage.  Anytime the husband would go near him, he would kick him. She admitted all of this at the vet.  The husband insisted on having her bring him in to be euthanized but the staff over at Ohana refused to do so and instead they had the owners sign over rights to them. There’s no way this boy’s story can end here.  Humans who were supposed to protect and love him did the opposite.  This is what the staff at Ohana say about him“He’s the best boy in the world! Super obedient, loves walks, and affection. However, he’s had so much built up anxiety being in the cage and isn’t doing well in there. He started chewing on himself, constant crying, and is losing weight from depression.But can you blame him? He’s wondering why he’s in a cage now.” Let’s please find this boy a home or a foster immediately   ##1616169##
