Story
Meet Lottie, a stunning, resilient Malinois looking for her forever Home! Lottie is a positively breathtaking 1-year-old purebred Malinois with a heart as big as her spirit. Born blind, she may not see the world like other dogs, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit! Lottie has a zest for life, loves to explore, and even surprises everyone with her absolute love for swimming—she confidently gets in and out of the pool once she knows the steps! Originally found as a stray, Lottie was given a second chance thanks to a Good Samaritan and the wonderful team at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. She thrives in the company of other dogs, happily following a confident leader, and she’ll do best in a home with a friendly, well-balanced canine companion to help guide her. Like any young Malinois, Lottie has plenty of energy and loves to play—sometimes a little too much for small dogs, so she’d do best in a home with medium to large dog companions. While she may startle easily until she learns the routine, she’s incredibly smart, eager to adapt, and housebroken once she knows the way out. Lottie deserves more than life in a rescue kennel—she needs a loving, patient home where she can continue to blossom. If you have a big heart, an active lifestyle, and a welcoming dog to show her the way, Lottie just might be your perfect match. Are you the one to give this incredible girl the forever home she deserves? Reach out today and make Lottie’s dream of family life come true! She’s currently available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area. Please visit our website to complete an adoption application: https://jasonheigl.foundation/adopt/dog/lottie

Story
Meet Gracie! A vibrant and intelligent one-year-old Belgian Malinois mix currently in Santa Barbara, CA, whose essence is pure sunshine wrapped in a golden coat with a striking black muzzle. Gracie is the kind of dog who doesn’t just enter a room, she lights it up! From her earliest days as a spirited pup, she’s brought boundless energy, deep affection, and a spark of joyful mischief to everyone she meets. She was raised in a lively environment surrounded by nine other dogs, which helped shape her into a sociable, playful girl who thrives around canine companions. Whether it’s romping around the yard or sharing a nap after a busy day, Gracie understands the language of dogs and she’s fluent in fun! Though she has a strong and athletic build, Gracie has a tender side that shines through in quiet moments. She's happiest when curled up on the couch or snoozing near her person’s bed, always ready to trade belly rubs for love-filled gazes. She’s particularly gentle with children, forming a special bond with a seven-year-old friend who thinks the world of her. Her heart is as big as her energy, and she leans into connection with an enthusiasm that’s nothing short of contagious! Gracie is house-trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and crate-comfortable thanks to a successful board-and-train program. Her high intelligence means she learns quickly, but it also means she needs plenty of mental stimulation and structure. Her new family should be ready for an energetic, clever companion who thrives with activity, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement. While she adores other dogs, she can be a bit too exuberant for older pups or more sensitive pets. As for cats, she’s curious, perhaps a bit too curious, so a home without feline friends may be the best fit for now. Gracie is looking for a home that can match her heart and her drive. A place full of love, play, and plenty of adventure! Could you be the one ready to explore life with this brilliant golden girl by your side? If you're ready to welcome Gracie into your heart and home, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! What kind of adventures will you and Gracie embark on together? Story
Meet Duke! A gentle almost nine-year-old Belgian Malinois/Labrador Retriever mix currently in San Marcos, CA, whose tan coat, white accents, and striking black muzzle give him the look of quiet nobility and the heart of a true companion. Duke weighs 60 pounds and brings with him a calm, affectionate spirit. He’s the kind of pup who wants nothing more than to be your constant companion. Whether you're curled up on the couch or working from home, he’ll be right by your side with a soft nudge or a warm presence at your feet. With formal obedience training under his belt, Duke confidently responds to commands like sit, stay, come, and leave it. He’s house-trained, neutered, and microchipped, and while he’s past his puppy energy, he still enjoys chewing on toys and bones when relaxing at home. But Duke does have one very important need: he doesn’t do well when left alone for long stretches. Separation anxiety causes him real stress, and when he’s anxious, he may chew on things or try to escape. A home where someone is present most of the time (whether that’s a remote worker, a retiree, or a family with a flexible schedule) would help Duke feel safe and secure. Loud trucks, fireworks, and crates are also known triggers for his anxiety, so a peaceful setting with a consistent routine is key. He’s selective with other dogs, he used to attend doggie day camp and coexists with a dog in his current home, but he can be reactive on leash and isn't a great match for households with multiple pups. Duke is not compatible with cats, but he’s very gentle with children and thrives in homes where love flows freely and things stay on the quieter side. Cuddly, loyal, and devoted, Duke is looking for a caregiver who understands his need for companionship and calm. He doesn’t need a lot, just a peaceful place, someone to love, and the comfort of knowing he’s not alone. To learn more about adopting Duke, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! He and his brother Ping were brought to the shelter as young strays after being found dumped at a dog park at just five months old. Pong hasn’t let that beginning define him — he’s blossomed into a cheerful, loving pup. He enjoys playing in the yard, splashing in water, chasing toys, and going for walks. At the shelter, Pong loved greeting visitors and spending time with staff — he’s friendly, social, and full of happy energy. Pong is a fantastic dog who’s ready to bring joy and companionship into a home. He is available for adoption in the Greater Los Angeles area and can be placed separately or with his brother Ping.
