Story
Brownie is such a sweetheart! He will appreciate an upbeat guardian that can be his cheerleader when the world seems overwhelming. He has lived with other dogs in the past and would likely do best in a home with another pup, so we are recommending a multi-dog home for him at this time. Bring your pup down to the shelter so we can set them up for a meet-and-greet to see if it`s a good match! Due to his tender nature, HSBV will only rehome Brownie to a family without children or with children over the age of 14.Brownie can be met with until 4:30pm so our Training and Behavior team can provide adoption counseling.

He’ll make you laugh, he’ll keep you active, and he’ll love you with his whole little soul. Breed Info Terrier mixes tend to be smart, bold, people-oriented, and fun-loving. Expect a dog who thrives on routine, mental stimulation, toys, training games, and staying busy. They are loyal partners who love being part of a family’s daily life. Owner Responsibilities – Provide consistent training and structure – Offer daily physical + mental exercise – Keep routines predictable for his emotional comfort – Socialize kindly and positively – Give him quality food, love, and vet care Even though he is healthy, take him to your own vet after adoption. Things to Consider Before Adopting – Landlord approval if you rent – Time for walks, play, affection, and bonding – Lifestyle stability — travel, moving, future plans – Financial ability for long-term care – Safe yard or secure leash walking – Terriers are clever — they need stimulation, not boredom – Are you truly ready for a lifetime commitment of love and responsibility? The 3-3-3 Rule The first 3 days are for decompressing, the first 3 weeks for learning routine, and the first 3 months for forming deep trust and truly blooming. He was returned through no fault of his own—simply because his previous home was not ready to commit to his needs. Despite that, Cosmo continues to love wholeheartedly, showing just how special and devoted he truly is. Personality Cosmo is affectionate, loyal, and very people-focused. He forms strong bonds and thrives on connection. He enjoys being close, following his person, and feeling part of a home. He is already trained and well-mannered, making him a wonderful companion with a solid foundation. Training & Behavior House trained Leash trained Understands home structure Struggles with being left alone (separation anxiety) Cosmo is still learning how to feel safe when alone and will need continued guidance and support in this area. Breed Info As a Black Mouth Cur / Terrier mix, Cosmo brings: Loyalty and strong attachment to his people Intelligence and responsiveness A loving, devoted nature This mix creates a dog who is deeply connected and eager to be part of a family, thriving with companionship and engagement. Ideal Home Cosmo would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time or willing to work with him through his separation anxiety. He needs a patient, understanding adopter who sees his attachment not as a burden, but as a reflection of how deeply he loves. Owner Responsibilities Cosmo will need: Consistent routine and structure Gradual training to build confidence when alone Patience and positive reinforcement to help him feel secure Daily exercise and engagement His adopter should be committed to working through separation anxiety, which may include training, enrichment, and possibly guidance from a professional trainer if needed. He will thrive in a home that provides stability, reassurance, and presence. Things to Consider Cosmo’s separation anxiety means he is not suited for a home where he will be left alone for long periods. He needs someone who understands that his need for closeness comes from loyalty and trust, and is willing to help him build confidence over time. Dogs like Cosmo often become the most devoted companions, but they require commitment, patience, and consistency.
