Hi, I'm Precious! I am a 5 month old Black Mouth Cur mix. I came to the shelter with my 7 other siblings! I'm still a puppy, full of energy and love. I love to play, and I'm always up for a good game. I'm sweet and cuddly, too. I love to curl up in a warm lap and give lots of puppy kisses. I'm a quick learner, too. I'm potty trained as long as I am kept on a good scheuldue. I am also crate trained, so I won't make a mess in your house. I promise to be a good girl and make you proud. Emma is a cuddle enthusiast, always seeking scratches and kisses. She's medium-energy, but equally content to spend the day lounging and recharging with naps. She's the perfect match for those seeking a young, calm and incredibly affectionate dog that adores snuggling, without the challenges of puppyhood. Emma's excitement is palpable—she showcases a happy wiggle butt when greeting you and flashes a toothy smile when she's thrilled. Outdoors, she unleashes her playful side with zoomies, but is also a fan of cozy cuddles and scratches. While she hasn't had extensive training, she's proficient on a leash and is fantastic on both walks and runs. She knows basic commands like “wait”, “sit” and “ok” and is fully house-trained and crate trained. Barking is a rare occurrence for her. She made an attempt to get help from all surrounding homes near the street she slept and not one person gave her a chance. That was until one of our Texas fosters came across her. She was so hungry she had to be given a slow feeder for the first week of decompression. She is a very old soul extremely loving. She's an older girl in her golden years she not the type to take long extended walks but she will keep you company while you watch a movie. We say that Elly is like a winter squash – she’s tender and sweet on the inside, a little bumpy on the outside. Her deep brown eyes and head tilt will capture any human’s gaze. She communicates on a level rarely seen in the canine species. She understands many English words and will respond vocally to you. (It’s really quite hilarious. She LOVES to talk.) Elly has been at headquarters for a couple weeks, and here’s what she wants in her forever life: “I’m Elly. I would like a place that’s safe and quiet, with clear expectations. I try to be flexible, but when things aren’t clear, I get a little stressed. In my new home, I would be ok with a doggie friend, but not too many of them. If there are soft blankets to cuddle on, and a schedule for going outside, eating, and playing, that will help me a lot! Please pet me all day long, and look me in the eyes and talk to me. I have a lot of thoughts about things, and it would just make my day to have a chance to discuss my deep thoughts with you.” This girl would love to be someone’s baby. She likes to wear shirts, jackets, Thunder jackets, and be wrapped in a blanket. Sitting on the couch next to you is one of her favorite activities. She’ll never complain about what you choose to watch on TV. Chicken and beef are two of her favorite foods. She loves a nice home-cooked meal a couple of times per week and has grown to love vegetables. When home-cooked food isn’t available she enjoys a good pate wet food mixed with her kibble. And while it’s not polite to talk about a lady’s weight Elly P. could lose a couple pounds. She is sensitive to pain, please don’t pull on her collar, or yell at her. It would break her spirit and make her cry. Elly P. really wants to be a good girl, so giving her small projects to build her confidence will be a great way to help her see her own best qualities.
